we have little notebooks that are actually sold along side water at our box. Every time we work out we are told to write things down, that way we can see where we've come from. Not only do I do that, but I take pictures of the WOD white board & any other board up with names and times. You can get a iPhone App WOD book as well.

When you join our CF you get a binder with the Paleo diet, some information stuff and log for our WODs. We keep our binders there so everytime we are done with a WOD we can log it in. Makes things very easy and we can refer back to them when needed.

I've always kept a binder and write down the entire workout, the date it was done, my time and how many reps and always keep the weights.
That way the next time I try that wod, I can see if I've improved! I LOVE beating old times, weights or reps!

The trainer suggested I keep a log of my workouts so that I could track my progress as the workouts move forward. He said most people don't, yet it is a good idea so that you can remember the weights and reps to compare in the future.

This actually turned out to be a pretty good idea. Not only did I log the details of the workout, but I also put down what I thought was going well (even in the warm ups and stretches) and what I felt I needed to improve upon.

I think the best doing this, as a beginner, was that it boosted my confidence level. I have been frustrated and so concentrated on what I can't do, that I didn't take time to reflect on what I could do. Forcing myself to write it down made me see that there are things that have improved over the last couple months and that I shouldn't be so negative and down on myself.

Thought this idea might help out someone else.
