We are getting tons of rain here today. It was a dark and stormy night... you get the picture. A day meant for curling up with a good book, or watching a black and white classic movie. When I was a kid, my family used to gather together on Sunday evenings to watch Family Classics. The best movies! Oh, to be young and innocent and arthritis free again! emoticon

I think when you listen to your body you are being wise. Hope the headache has faded away to a distant memory. Sal

Sal, you're funny!

I didn't make it to the Alzheimer's support group. I had such a nasty headache, and the temptation to kick back in the recliner and relax was irresistable. emoticon

I don't go to any. I am not sure why. Well, honestly I have a sneaking suspicion that it is because I was always afraid it would depress me. Now that is uncharacteristically not like me to duct from knowledge but the truth is the truth. emoticon SAL

I don't, mainly because I don't know of any active groups specifically for caregivers...and I live in the capital city of my state.

I do belong to a group for families of adults with developmental disabilities, but most of what they talk about is Medicaid/ services for their family member (and in most cases, it's for an adult child). Which is great, but sometimes it would be nice to have someone in person to talk to about the caregiver side of things.

Teams I am on:

Boise Sparks
Idaho Living
Caregivers support (leader)
Celiac & Gluten Free
Frucose Intolerance
Leaving 210- ville
LDS Ladies
Love Kids, Just Don't Have Any
One Person, One Dream (pay it Forward)
People w/ Cerebral Palsy
People w/ DIsabilities on Fixed Income
Plantar Fasciitis
Sleep Apnea
South Beach Diet
Tall Ladies

Hi,

I was wondering if any of you attend caregiver support groups. If you do, do you like them and are they helping? If you don't, why not?

I'm going to be attending a support group for Alzheimer's on Tuesday night (I've only been to one a few months ago), but I think I'll check with our local hospital, too, to see if there is a more general caregiver group in my area. Sometimes living in a small town limits my options.
