I like Garden of Life RAW Protein. It's made mostly from sprouted seeds. Very tasteless, unless you choose the vanilla or chocolate one. I tend to go for the plain and use it in smoothies.

How well I know that. I found a formula, don't remember where now, for vegetarian or vegan diets. I have to edit my nutrition goals every so often because the database changes it to omnivore settings.

most nutrition trackers, especially the one on SP, assume an omnivore's diet and list much higher protein intake than actually needed

Thanks for the tip Alan. Being Vegan, I have problems getting enough protein, according to what my nutrition tracker says I should have. I'll be adding more raw unsalted nuts to my daily regime.

Thank you HABERGIN...I will definitely look for it. Your smoothie sounded a lot like the one I had this morning. I mixed a banana, frozen strawberries and blueberries, spinach, ground flaxseed, a splash of almond milk and a touch of agave. I think the recipe calculator said it was 380 calories.
I prefer my exercise in the morning so the protein smoothie will be a nice bonus for that. emoticon emoticon

I found it at my local vitamin shop, but it is available online as well. They have several flavors. I like the vanilla it is good base for smoothies. My favorite smoothie recipe.
2 cups spinach
8oz almond milk
I blend just these to together to break down the greens. Then I add.
1 frozen banana
1 scoop of protein powder
1 tbs of chia seeds
1 -2 tbs of peanut butter.
It is slightly under 500 calories so I drink it for breakfast. Its more than half of my daily protein so I don't have to be to concerned about what I am eating the rest of the day.

Unless you're an Olympic athlete only a few grams of protein (above and beyond regular intake) are required after a workout. This amount is easily achieved with the consumption of genuine whole foods like nuts, seeds, vegetables and fruit.
wish you all the best with your goals,
Alan

HABERGIN where do you find it? Does it come in different flavors or just kind of neutral?

BILBY I can see where that could be a consideration. But, for myself....I want the extra boost and a vegan protein powder option is one I am choosing to take. It will be nice to have some to add to my smoothies after a workout.

Protein powders don't meet my criteria for 'whole food'.

Good morning everyone!! I was wondering if any of you have found a good vegan protein powder you use? It is so hard to know which to buy because some reviews mention some nasty tastes with some of them. I figured I would come here and ask the tried and true people that share here at SP. emoticon
