I do have 2-3 cups of green tea at work. I have to get into the habit of having it at home on weekends.

My problem isn't that green tea is bitter, it is that it doesn't have much taste at all. I am enjoying a box of yogi tea I picked up from Trader Joe's though.

My cousin lost 25lbs just by switching her daily drink to green tea (from sugar laden juices). She did a lot of research on it as well (she has Crones disease). When she tried to get me to start drinking I told her that I found green tea to be too bitter so she suggested white tea (which apparently is green tea only matured). It should have all the same benefits and it has a milder taste. I love the new teas that are infused with different fruit flavors like Lipton mango peach white tea .... mmmm!

Hey! Great to hear that green tea - garlic connection! I'm going to try that since I love garlic and it sticks with me for quite a while.

BTW - when a person adds ginger to their tea, is it fresh ginger or from the spice aisle?

Hi there!
Glad to read this info to re-enforce the facts :-) I really like to get a combo tea...a green tea base with ginger or orange blossom or jasmine......
I really really like yogi tea. They have so many variations and they never bitter on me. I get mine at whole foods and now find a couple of them at Trader Joes.

Love this team. I dont post alot, as I feel im always learning from you all and dont have much to contribute in this way. I really like the things Im learning tho and like to hear what you all are doing.
Happy Friday!

Decaffinated doesn't have the same benefits, FYI; I'm a cup a day green tea drinker and I switched to decaf when I got pregnant but I was pretty disappointed to learn a lot of the benefits are lost when they decaffinate it.

I need to drink more, but I always forget and to tell you the truth beverages like tea, coffee, and sodas scare me a bit. I'm so afraid that it'll stain my teeth. And yes, I know the upsides outway the downsides.

I love good green tea, too! Most of the commercial stuff is lame but Tazo's teas are usually pretty good. Best yet is getting served it at a good Japanese restaurant.

Got rid of the ticker cuz my scale decided to flatter me unduly. I haven't re-gained, just got a better, honest, scale.

Just because you steam it, doesn't mean you can't add herbs and spices. (A gripe at those insipid restaurant "healthy choice" menu selections.)

I love green tea! Over a year ago drinking it helped me get rid of a serious diet coke addiction! For those who don't think it has enough flavor, there are a lot of brands out there that offer green tea with pomegranite or other flavors. Also, fresher loose leaf tea makes a diff. Finally, if it's bitter make sure your water isn't too hot. I take the kettle off the burner and let it sit a couple of minutes before pouring.

You can crush green tea into a powder and sneak a half-teaspoon into anything like sauces, soup, and baked goods, without changing the taste.

Drinking green tea before or during a meal may also mitigate garlic breath, as the polyphenols reduce volatile sulfur compounds.

Thank you for the information! I LOVE green tea. I drink at least 1 cup per day. Actually I love tea in general. I'm not a coffee drinker so tea is it for me.I'm glad I'm doing something right.
For those who find there is little taste, they do have green tea infused with fruit and other flavors. Try adding some pure honey and a little lemon!

Green tea DOES have a taste to me, so maybe this won't help.... but try a loose leaf green tea with jasmine. Not only tastes better (I'm not really a tea lover), but smells heavenly. And it makes you feel very virtuous. (smile)

I also like lemon in my tea as well, and lemon or lime zest works also because that is where the essential oils of the fruits really are contained.
