This is not a journey to weight loss; it is a journey about choosing life one day at a time.

!KNOH - I'm on vacation and am NOT carrying scales. I am keeping track of my food and I've been at the high end of my calorie range two of the past two days.

The last 2 days have reached 100, but it's been a dry heat - not bad at all. We got passes for the pool today, so there is a possibility .....

Adorable? Not since I was three when I won some sort of Little Mister San Gabriel and rode down a street on some float.

Since I was a teen, the kindest word I have heard spoken was "average", along with "funny" and "has a great personality" (now you know all about my social life in high school).

Popeye, My scale performs almost always like a surly juvenile delinquent refusing to obey commands. Today it was lulled into submission but I think it's been exhausted by running riot and thumbing its nose at authority figures.

Usually the performance is ghastly.

I liked the half-capitals for the half-pound.

I also wanted to be the first to "slander" you with the "adorable" adjective, because I know it will set your teeth on edge. lol

HOnk! Half a pound down.

Doulton - I don't think I have introduced myself to you. 'I' am PopeyeTheTurtle and I would like to say. "Hello".

If you're a new member, welcome. If you've been here for some time, my mind is so full I have forgotten you - anything after 1500 is affected by a short in my short term memory, not having a RAM upgrade since the original model came out.

Your scale performs for you? I bet that's pretty interesting. If you feel comfortable sharing with someone, is the performance dancing, speaking, singing or ? And where can I purchase one? I would love to be entertained - my current scale is sooooo boring.

Tomorrow! Tomorrow. Tomorrows the day I weigh.

Don't bother applauding. If my singing voice was any better, I might make the elementary school chorus - there the teacher would be instructing me to sing "so-low" (I couldn't be heard).

I don't know the answer to that, Popeye.

But I feel certain that YOU will be the one corpse that can do it, if any.

The men who are able to drop poundage quickly usually aren't Insulin dependent diabetics (Insulin side affects include a steroid type response that tends to enlarge you rather than let you shrink).

Nor do they have two broken vertebrae in their upper back nor three disintegrated discs in their lower back (two running steps cripple me for at least a month). Thank goodness at this time of year there is my swimming pool.

I guess the two open heart surgeries with a total of nine bypasses don't really help, nor does the defibrillator if my heart starts to ratchet up. The stent does provide some help with increased oxygen content to my 1/3 remaining heart muscle.

Sleep apnea robs me of strength to push myself very far. I once fell asleep on my way to the gym.

Testosterone isn't very affective if you can't get that metabolic activity up high enough to get the full affect.

The other side of the coin is I could be dead. How sarcastic can you be as a corpse?

I'm actually surprised, Popeye. Men are always dropping poundage in extreme amounts.

It's why I hate competitive co-ed dieting. The testosterone-endowed always lose twice as much as the estrogen-disadvantaged.

However, I, like you, only weigh once a week. Saturday is quickly approaching.

Five pounds!!

Did you have to cut off an arm or your leg below the knee?

The only time I lost five pounds was when I was in Basic Training and caught spinal meningitis. With a temperature of 102, I still had to run 6 miles back to the barracks.
When I collapsed and passed out, one of the Lieutenants decided I wasn't faking it and sent me to the hospital.

Someone was nice enough to clean my weapon. At that time they didn't know if I was going to live or have to recycle.

Much to their consternation, I not only lived, but because we were at the beginning of weapons training, I got back in time to qualify. Even weak and shaky, I shot Sharpshooter (subsequent qualifications were at Expert and I shot on the US Military team against the German, French, English, Austrian and Swiss teams - taking Second in Combined Arms - M-16 rifle, .45 caliber automatic handgun and M60 machine gun).

The second was behind another American - I was a 21 year old 2LT, he was a 42 year-old, 22 year lifer Master Sargent as old as my Dad. I was not a happy camper, grumping about for days. As far I was concerned in those days, second place was only the first of the losers.

Come to think of it I still pretty much that way but realize at my age if I can even make it to the fourth of the losers I'm doing pretty darn good.

I'll measure Sunday.

You can not change yesterday - it's done.
You can only dream of tomorrow.
The only day you can change is today.
What are you going to do today to reach your goals of tomorrow?

It's supposed to be hard. If it wasn't hard, everyone would do it. The hard is what makes it GREAT

Didn't lose an ounce this week.

OTOH, I didn't gain an ounce.

I am going to have to say "beep". If I lost any it would be so small that my scale did not register it, but I have remained the same, and that is okay!!!

Keep Sparkling!! Hugs! Shannon

My horn shall remain silent this week. And yet, I do not despair. Had company last week, and who wants to count calories during 'vacation'?

HONK But this is an embarassing honk because last week I gained weight and this week I've been diligent about the exercise and food intake, but I haven't made any major negative changes, just losing my mistakes.
