I did a "max" workout on alternating crunches on Monday the 24th. Tuesday, as expected, I had to roll out of bed and anything dropped on the floor stayed there.

Wednesday, I still couldn't get out of a chair without pain in my upper abs.

Today, after Thanksgiving Dinner, I couldn't get up out of the chair - but I don't think the crunches had anything to do with it.

I figured the cardio needed to work off the calories from today?

I'll have to walk an extra 20 miles (at 2.5 mph) before one day of falling off the wagon will be accounted for!

Maybe by Christmas?

If I can have an assistant, i insist that our positions be changed slightly.
I'll lie on the floor (at least to start), but he must be OVER ME.
Let him do push ups andlet the crunches worry about themselves!

Would you like some cheese with that wine, Mare? Mmmm ... cheese ....

(That's a pretty good goal, though. I have both my God-given hips and I rarely ever get down on the floor!)

A resident masochist. Yeah, that's what I need.
Let's see- what would get me doing crunches... hot, fresh from the oven....nnnnnnoooo, don't go there!
Sparks has had some cool articles about the need to work on your strengths the most, as when you only develop your weaknessess, you end up with lots of crummy weaknessess.
But, I so good at ignoring what is hard for me!
Actually-----
I had written as my goal the desire to be able to sit on the floor and get up again. I had it in some challenges, I had it as a 'get on the floor one time a day' for ....for about 7 months. For the last 10 months, I've been getting down on the ground every single day. It is a major victory, and I've been so happy being ABLE to do it...but it's probably time to add more work to it.
Sigh. Get good at something, then add more difficulty.
Easy to forget to add the difficulty.
Even easier to forget to celebrate the changes.
I'm a titanium hip wonder, and I still notice things that I can do now...but I need to add more.
Whine.
Ok, we're back to the whine.

Want to do better with crunches?

1. Have an assistant tie your hands behind your back.
2. Lie on your back on the floor.
3. Have your assistant hold a (twinkie, reese's cup, chocolate, whatever) over your face, just out of your reach.

You'll have rock hard abs in no time!

Do not try and think outside the box. Instead, only try to realize the truth. There is no box.

I'm not sure I can handle this.
The SA thread is going to start talking about being healthy, moving, exercising, taking care of ourselves?
Shudder.
What happened to our wonderful team? What happened to this inspirational fest of silliness? I'm stunned.
Since, as you can tell, I am the absolute goddess of health and well being.
Yeah.
Well.
(I sneak out of the thread for a long walk, muttering over the degenerating of the SA thread......)

I just got Wii Fit and found that doing the strength as part of the daily thing will work for me. I do 2 things from each section each time I work out and I'm trying to work out 3 times a day (60 minutes or more). prior to that, it was just walking the dog at a slow pace a few days a week... this is 100 percent more than before! Once I get to the point that this is no longer hard, I'll get another workout to work with... need to have it fun or I won't do it!

Okaaaaaayyyy, you guys are making me feel guilty.

A few months ago I did a 4-week challenge on another team, and part of it was to do 50 crunches 3x/week (or was it 4?). Anyway, I actually kept up with it, and I was pretty proud of myself ... then it was over, and I stopped entirely. Dumb, I know.

Why is it that I have no trouble doing cardio every day, love it, feel good when I do it, but I can't seem to get a strength training habit going? It just doesn't give me that same OOOMPH, somehow.

After you get up to 2-3 sets of regular crunches, try those alternating crunches.

After a couple of sets of those babies, I need help just getting out of the chair. The next morning I have to literally roll out of bed because I can't sit up.

I did 2 hours of non-stop martial arts last night, and helped lug a 300# treadmill up the hill to the house this morning. It's just now 30 degrees outside.

I get the feeling I'm going to be whimpering pretty bad by tonight...

I always enjoy the after exercise day of not being able to stand up in one motion. Sometimes it takes like 30 steps before everything starts working right. I'm like 'walk this way' Igor. I look so suave. Hunched, creaking, knees wanting to fold under me.
Oh, bliss, getting older is so much fun.

I'm still trying to wrap my brain around the 2 hours at the gym. Kudos to you for that. The most I can get out of me is about 45 minutes then I'm panting like a big dawg.

And talk about sweat, heck my eyelids are sweating when I'm done.

Ok, so last week I (finally) started doing Strength Training as well as Cardio. Mind you, I usually do about 2 hrs of Cardio a day, 4-5 days per week. That's a LOT of time at the gym, going to the gym, coming home from the gym, you get the gist. And my ever so wonderful wiff Ezzie, is actually supportive of all that time I sacrifice from her too!

So now that I've dropped 18 pounds, time to get serious... and crunch them abs. I had one of the gals at the club create a Strength Training module for me, and then even added some Ab work on my own. so far so good...

until late one night....

when I tired to get up off the couch...

holy crap Batman! This s#it f#Ęking hurtz!

I might not ever get to the gym again...
