The Christian walk and the diet walk are so much alike! I read on one of the blogs about the discouragement that some gals get from friends and family about their dedication to their diet or exercise. If fact, I myself, have I think, discouraged others unknowingly. It is so important for us to stay close to the Lord! We are so vulnerable to outside influences that may be wrong and harmful. It happens in the diet and in our faith. Let's stay close to the One who knows what we need and knows our bodies and our mind and our spirit. It is God and our savior Jesus Christ who will carry us to success. Let nothing persuade us otherwise. Our power comes from God our Father and our true Friend!
I want to share a bit about the power of God. God is good! I had the "feeling" that I should write to a friend about Christ. She is in very ill health and is afraid to die. I wanted to write to her but I remembered that when her brother was very ill the other family members were told NOT to share the Gospel. I gave up the idea of writing so that I would not cause family problems. Last week my friends sister asked me to please write to her sister and share the gospel and please use scriptures. The other family members were in agreement with her and even asked to be the one to read her the letter!!! I prayed and then I wrote that letter! I want to thank God for his loving care for my friend and that even when I did not listen to my "feeling" he had other plans and let me know his will. God is so good. My friend is not going to make it but she will have the love of her family and my letter to comfort her. God is the master of comfort and he is able because he knows just what she needs. I guess she will "make it" Heaven is her home.
Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me...Matt 11:29 "to those who have no might He increases strength" Isaiah 40:29 Listen to Oswald Chambers, " No power on earth or in hell can conquer the Spirit of God living within the human spirit; it creates an inner invincibility." We are strong when we are yoked with Christ!!! Chambers says, "Commit to God whatever burden he has placed on you. Don't just cast it aside, but put it over onto Him and place yourself there with it. You will see that the burden is then lightened by the sense of companionship." Do you see the yoke in your minds eye? Yoke yourself with Jesus in this struggle and you will find rest for your souls. When I pray for myself, I also pray for my sisters in this walk.

You know, gals, that when we renew our minds as in Philippians 4;8-9 the Lord sees the desires of our heart and knows the faith that we are moving in. Sometime it is not easy to stop and redirect our thoughts. Sometimes our thought pattern has been engrained for years. Isn't it good to remember that Christ makes us new? We no longer have to believe the old lies that have defined us. We are new creations in Christ and we can put the old thoughts aside. They are not relevant anymore!!! I am learning this every day as I try to take control of my mind. God takes our effort and gives us the power through his spirit. What a glorious victory we have in Christ. What power. Remember this too, when we mess up we have a Lord who forgives us. So lets forgive ourselves and pick ourselves up and take control of those thoughts because we have the power of God on our side!
Here is a verse that sustains me in the hard times: " Not by might; nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the Lord Almighty." If we know Jesus Christ as Lord of our lives, if we call him our Lord, we have the Holy Spirit. Here is our power. Here is our strength. We are victorious in Christ!
