I repeated my 20 minute weight circuit today plus 30 minutes of rowing. It was easier this week than last week. I am starting the Concept2 Rowlympics on Friday, July 27 until Sunday, August 12. I have a couple of challenges to being able to row one hour every day. One, I haven't done this for over a year (rowed for an hour everyday) and I'm taking a class all day on this Saturday and Sunday and I'm going out of town the week before the competition ends. All I can do is take one day at a time.

I'm doing better eating mostly raw foods and I lost 3 pounds since last week. One day at a time!

I did a 20 minute Circuit Weight Training and followed that by a 30 minute row. Since I had not worked out with weights for 77 days, it was hard to do the same number of repetitions as before but at least I was able to do a basic set at the same weight level. I followed this by 30 minutes of rowing despite the protestations of my legs and arms. I completed with a short stretch and now feel the ache of aliveness. It is all good medicine!

I'm finding it harder to get back into my old routine and the scales at the gym are testifying to my missing the mark. I'm upping my daily rowing and rowing more days a week. Fortunately the bounty of summer fruits is here, but I'm not being as consistent as I need to be to show real results, but I must remember that I'm making a permanent lifestyle change and not opting for a quick fix of a "diet" solution that will cause me to rebound. Patience is called for!

Day two of getting back on track. I had a retirement luncheon to day for the head of the Master Gardener Program in San Diego. I went to the gym early this morning and navigated the lunch line with care. No bread, no chicken, mashed potatoes, gravy, or prime rib. I just had a plate of greens with some cooked vegetables on the side. I did have a candied walnut garnish, a fruity salad dressing with strawberries, and horseradish on the side with the vegetables. It was delicious. I passed on dessert, but did eat a few more candied walnuts. Not perfect, but not bad, considering my choices. I even passed on the vegetarian pastry. It looked good, but not very healthy.

Time to get back to basics. My dietary choices have strayed from Live, Organic, and Vegetarian, but I'm finding my way back. I gained 45 pounds with this little detour over the last year and I can really feel how it limited my ability to do all that I want to do. Climbing mountains and steep hillsides is where it really hit home. Time to change! Today is the first day of the rest of my life! Let the L.O.V.E. begin!
