As other people have said, maybe you could try a hobby. I do all types of needlework, (quilting, knitting, crochet, counted cross-stitch, sewing) so I usually have some project or another to work on. You can't eat if your hands are busy! Suzy
A lot of times I will exercise for a little while (tae-bo or walk away the pounds) but I do it for about an hour. It's the rest of the night I have trouble with. If I thought I could get off of third shift I would but since I just transferred to another department overnight I can't move anywhere for 6 months. I used to work second shift and didn't have this problem...I also had lots of friends to hang out with then.

not sure if this would help.. but maybe you need to invest in an exercise video that you can put in and work on... you dont have to have the bouncing all over the place one.. just get one that helps you stay focused.. i had slepp issues the other night and i put on my exercise stop on tv and i worked out for a bit.. i may not have done alot of it but it sure helped me burn energy to go to sleep...

Have you thought about doing a hobby at night, Angla242? Perhaps scrapbooking, writing, handiwork, etc...anything to keep those hand busy and not eating! The other thing might be to save for a treadmill, and do some walking at night... Karla
For me, the more structure the better. Literally pencil in plans hour by hour as well as plan out your food intake. Find a book to read or write a letter or study a foreign language or learn a craft project. Whenever I have downtime I try to structure both my eating and activities. Hope this helps!
well I dont have any friends that are awake at these hours. They usually go to bed around 9pm and wake up between 7 and 10 am...which are the times I am usually waking up and then going to bed. Not that I have many friends anyway..just a couple. One doesnt even have a phone yet! I usually exercise once my parents leave for work around 8am because I don't want to risk waking them up or having them watch me work out...I hate that. I like to read too but I can't do it for hours at a time. I will just have to try to pace myself...or eat something a little healthier if I am gonna snack.
I'm a night eater too. I try to do anything except watching tv. That makes me want to eat big time. I read alot and exercise and I just got a cat. Maybe you develop some other hobbies. Talking to friends on the phone helps to cuz I don't want to chew in their ears. Good luck with everything!
I hear what you are say n I stay up alot at night from insomnia, so all I want to do is eat myself sick. I was reading your sp page an we like alot of the same tv programs. My honey works off shore so I ahve the house all to myself so I usually stay on the computer when I cant sleep. My honey works nights so sometimes I call him jus so I can have someone to talk to besides myself Halla if you need...
hey everyone. well I work 3rd shift and on days that I work I can usually control how much I eat...but when it comes to my nights off I am in trouble. I basically spend my first night off sleeping for a couple hours and then just sitting here in my room watching tv and going online. I usually end up eating a few things here and there. On my second night off I have to spend the whole night up and I usually end up pigging out on stuff because I am so bored. Only things to do around here in the middle of the night is go to Wal-Mart (which is where I work so I am NOT going there), going to Waffle House, or Wendy's. Don't eat at either of those places so I am safe when it comes to that. I just get so bored and can't find anything to keep my mind off of food. this really sucks.
