With the help of a wonderful therapist who wrote a book on emotional eating and evaluating the layers of my mind from past to present.....I have been in a position of being powerless for too long and am finding out how to manage my negative chatter box which leads me to the light in the fridge instead of to my own internal light...

HAPPY SUNDAY! Hope you're all having a great weekend. This year is almost gone and we have a brand new year to reach our healthy weight loss goals. What will you be doing to reach yours? For me, I'll be doing low carb, and I'm cutting out all artificial sweetners. Bob and I have also joined a fitness center and will be going there 3 times a week. It's only a 5 minute drive from the house so no excuses not to go. I don't know how much of the 65 lbs I'll be able to lose in 2013 but I'm going to lose just as much of it as I possibly can.

I am so grateful for my neighbors - one of them snowblowed my driveway. I had gone out to clear the steps earlier - it snowed a little more and he even cleared what fell.
I did pretty well until this evening.

I got back on track the other day.........well kind of.............by days end... my will fell apart........same story for the next day.
Weigh- in tomorrow and so be it. You have to be a ''diet saint'' to get through the holidays without a gain........but then, again there are those who manage to maintain.
Once all the ''none for me foods'' are out of the house, it should be clear sailing.

Good morning, everyone.
I'm staying in today, really sick, which means its going to be hard to resist snacking all day. Plus, I'm at my parents house dog sitting, and they have soooo much food here. Luckily they don't buy junk food or sweets, but there's enough cheese, crackers and stuff like that I can do damage with. I'm planning to run to the store soon to get some calorie free drinks. Any tips greatly appreciated.

Glad everyone had a nice Christmas. Bob and I gave each other small gifts but we also joined our local fitness center and will go at least for the next 3 months. Bob got a medically necessary doctors script so it won't cost for him to go for the 3 months, but I'll be using my pocket money to cover my dues and enrollment fee. But it's something we both need. Bob will mainly use the pool to make it easier on his legs but to help strengthen his heart and I use the machines. He plans to use the recumbrant bike once in awhile too, like I did yesterday. He spent 15 minutes in the pool while I used the bike. I did 3 miles in 15 minutes. It's a good start for me. And I'm willing to do just about anything to keep Bob going. He needs this so badly to increase his heart strength.

I'm not doing great - foodwise. I'm really fine in other areas. I know people will say that can't be because it's not what you are eating but what's eating you. Having said that I feel very content.

It's going to be a nice Thursday I think. It's 69 degrees already and supposed to get up to almost 80 for the high. My kind of weather. I'd be interested in hearing what food plans each of you are doing? Are most of you doing low carb, or eating clean, or just calorie counting, etc.? I still say you're doing great. Most places say to only change your oil every 3000 miles. We traded in our last car after 18 months and only had 1781 miles on it. And they gave it 5 oil changes in that time frame. With our lack of travel time in the car, you'd think 1-2 times a year would be more than enough.

To date I have lost almost 60lbs but I try to keep my focus on each quarter thus the 18lbs, I mentioned.
This sounds profound but I lost almost a foot around the hips, 11 inches.

Good Morning. Just got back from going in to get our first oil change in our new car. They want us to bring it in every 3 months. We get 4 free oil changes per year. But in the 3 months we've had the car, we've only put on 585 miles, so we don't go places very much. I don't think we need an oil change that often, but were told to bring it in every 3 months anyway.

I just put a huge London broil in the crock pot and in about a hour I'll add potatoes and baby carrots to it. That's going to make a nice Sunday dinner for today and for next Sunday too. I freeze the left overs and then next Sunday I just thaw and reheat. But since the potatoes don't do quite as well after being frozen, I'll make a beef stew out of it so the potatoes will thicken the broth up.

Spent another 2 hours painting today but this time it was edging along the ceiling/walls of two rooms, a hallway and painting the ceiling completely in the hallway. We have two more rooms to do tomorrow and then we'll be done. Wasn't as tired today but was wearing about as much paint on me as the walls were. I accidently upended the paint tray onto myself. LOL! After getting cleaned up and having a small lunch, I went on to the library like I had planned yesterday, but didn't get to. I was just too tired and sore yesterday but it was easier on me today for some reason. Hope everyone is having a good day.

You can do it. I don't knw if you track your food on this site. However, maybe bring along a small memo pad and do as much food tracking as you can.

Just need to say this and get it out there instead of holding it in ... I am going away for a few days with out computer access and am very nervous about staying on track. I just recently got back to working toward better health and I am afraid this will set me back again. Hoping that voicing my concern will help me face it and help me do what I know I need to do. I had the same situation. Now that we both follow the same game plan it makes things 100% better. We are on the same page and we look out for one another. He does not have a weight issue. It all about better health.
