Can I borrow from your lists? So far my list says think of things to do so I won't eat when I am stressed. Cleaning the litterbox is a good one-that really doesn't do much for the appetite. emoticon Another that comes to mind is gaming. Can't munch when I'm trying for a new high score on tetris.

Very interesting ideas can't wait!

Nothing lasts forever, so live it up, laugh it off, avoid the crap, take chances, & never have regrets, because at one point everything thing you did was exactly what you wanted-take the good with the bad, smile when your sad, love what you've got, and remember what you had-Always forgive but never forget, learn from your mistakes but never regret, people change, things go wrong-just remember-life goes on!

These are all great ideas! I am going to use them. Another trick that is helpful (but almost dangerous) that I do is drink a couple glasses of water, then get out my cookbook or go online and start planning a HEALTHY dinner for me and hubby to enjoy. Water fills me up, and I am taking control of what i put into my body by planning. Just don't eat during the planning and preparing or it isnt healthy anymore.

WTG Suna!!!! And thanks, Irene. =)

Ya know, I didn't end up doing the extra cardio...I opted to lay on the couch and watch TV with hubby. It's his only day off this week and I did work hard this week, doing extra cardio, so I don't feel badly.

Hugs,
Dana

Hi everyone. There are some great ideas here. I have been slacking off the exercise the past few days, but as soon as I get my energy back, I'll get on it.
Good luck with the jeans, Dana.

LOL SUNA!!! I LOVE that last idea..."look at clothes I want to be able to wear and then do the exercise video AGAIN" HAHAHA

In all seriousness, that does motivate me. Today is my exercise day off, but I'm gonna do cardio anyhow because I want to fit into my jeans that are a size too small right now. =)

I did this today, I have gained quite a bit of weight over only a year on my 5'1frame. i tried my favorite pants on and couldn't button them, that made me not hungry, but motivated me to stay on track so I can wear them again. maybe just taking a moment and looking at those jeans, visualizing yourself in them would help you keep on track and not start mindlessly eating.

I'm 5'1

I'm not a very good list maker, but here is a few ideas!

1. check your e-mail to see if anyone has posted, and reply (that takes up some time)

2. watch Disney channel (for those with younger kids)

3. clean the bird cage, or litter box .. or fish tank (whatever the case may be)

4. write a letter to someone you haven't talked to in awhile

5. and i know this is really mean, but I like to clean out the fridge and cupboards of all junk food items

6. go for a walk outside, or if it's raining - just stand out on the balcony and enjoy the fresh air

7. go visit someone (it's not like you're going to go in their fridge and eat something)

8. take pictures!

9. catch up on DVR/TiVo recordings

10. READ!

"Sometimes losing is really winning!!"

I also not only put a list somewhere close, but I have a picture of myself at my peak on the refrigerator. Every time I see it I sures heck do not want to eat. Also, I drink lots of water, it makes me feel full.

Great idea, Sarah!

Here's a few things:
Organize a closet
Declutter ______ (ie. bookshelf, phone/computer desk)
Research some new healthy recipes
Do your nails
Have a bubble bath
Take a nap
Do something nice for someone
Start a craft project
Work on Christmas gift ideas/cards

hugs,
Dana

ooh ooh, I like this idea - I too am a list-maker! Okay, here goes. Instead of eating when I am not hungry I can:

1. Call my best friend and catch up (you already have this one, but I think it bears repeating!).

2. Treat myself to a trashy magazine and read it cover to cover.

3. Knit (I am a knitter and I have found that sometimes when I am bored and I want to eat it is just because my hands need to be occupied. If I am busy knitting I can't be eating!).

4. Go through the clothes in my closet (I can get rid of things that are old/don't fit -- and in the process of trying things on, remember WHY I don't want to eat when I am not hungry).

5. Put on some great music and dance around.

I'm a "list maker" - so I thought it would be good to make a "list" of things to do instead of eating when I'm not hungry. After I get the list done, I can type it up and keep it on the refrigerator...
So, can anyone out there help me make my list?
This is what I have so far (all of which I have read on various topics in this group...)

1. write down the emotion I am feeling (angry, depressed, etc.)
2. fold the laundry
3. walk
4. ride the exercise bike
5. do crunches
6. clean the bathroom
7. call a friend
8. pet the dog - focus on nothing but loving on the dog for 10 minutes straight
9. try to memorize a verse
