I used to eat A LOT during the middle of the night. I think it's how I gained a lot of my weight. I had to force myself to stop when I had gestational diabetes, as eating in the middle of the night would affect my morning blood glucose readings. I made it through the last trimester of pregnancy that way, but after my son was born I relapsed and started again.
Jacob is just 2 days from turning one year old, and I have again successfully broken the night eating habit. First, I simply closed my bedroom door. That is a visual cue to me that if the door is closed, the kitchen is closed. I take a bottle of water with me to bed, and drink it if I wake up. I also take an OTC sleep supplement called "Midnites" which helps me stay asleep so I don't wake up, hence I don't have the problem.
I also can't stop eating during the night, and when I wake in the morning first thing I do is eat more. It's crazy I feel uncomfortable and mad at myself. Why can't I stop it?? I am alone at night, and wonder if I was in a relationship and had someone with me at night would I still eat?
it seems like in my silly head.. its like calories in the dark dont count or something. i read about night eating disorders and its kind of like that... sometimes when i wake up i forgot that i ate... or what i ate. but when i am eating i am conscious.
i cut aspartame from my diet. its def not physical hunger... its just.. silly hunger. idk how to describe it.. its just really odd and strange. like i almost look forward to it.. but then get upset about it after

have you journaled about it? What are you hungry for? Is it physical or emotional hunger? Do you use products with Aspartame in them? Aspartame increases hunger and cravings for carbs as it crosses into the brain.
