Girl, I feel your pain. I HATE to exercise - I think I am against the idea of sweating... ever...

I am on my treadmill every second day for 1/2 hour... and the only reason I do it is because I get to watch a show on DVD or listen to my favorite radio program that I burned from online... make it a treat for yourself and you might want to do it more.

Hi jennyb15,

Maybe wearing a gadget that tracks how many steps you take a day would help. Even if you don't literally exercise every step you take counts for something. Exercise on the days you feel and slowly build up the time you spend on it. Even cleaning your house burns calories.

Jenny,
Your 13 year old son can be the one who gets you started. Schedule a time to walk, play frisbee, etc. with him each day. Then you spend time with him and get your exercise without seeming like exercise. I know I look forward to playing in the pool with my 10 year old nephew and he really gives me a workout!!

Lainie-maybe buying a fun DVD or video you could do indoors? Maybe one set to your favorite music, or that teaches you a dance you've been wanting to learn? That way you could do it in the privacy of your own home.

Any suggestions for getting me motivated to exercise. I try everyday and I just put it off. The only thing I have managed to do is park farther away from my spot and walk further whenever I am at the grocery, mall even at work. Lately it has been so hot that walking outside is not an option. Let me know if anyone can suggest something.

Every day I say I will exercise today and I don't. I am hoping one of these days I will return to exercise. I used to exercise all the time that I burned out. Now the thought is draining. I am so glad that there are others who do not exercise.

Remember to always be kind, compassionate, and gentle with yourself

Thanks for the ideas!

My 13 year old son just asked me if I'm walking today and if so if he could come with me! Guess what I'm going to do right now? Thanks goodness the heat wave has broken a bit.

I totally know how you feel Jenny! I haven't exercised yet this week! What I've decided to try though is to find things I find fun to do, that can also be counted as exercise. For example, I am going to start trying to roller skate again, play tennis, etc. Those things are fun for me that I don't mind doing. Maybe that will work for you?

I've gone to yoga and done 30 minutes on the treadmill this week but I just can't make myslef do anything else. I know I should do 10 minutes of cardio everyday (at least) but I'm resisting like a defiant child.

This is my first week and I'm concentrating on tracking my food and water right now. Small changes are the best but does anybody have any ideas on how to overcome exercise resistance?
