i agree with the fact that it all depends on how u react to the numbers on the scale.

i weight almost everyday because its true it gives me an idea of how im doing. if i wait 1 week to weight i'll be expecting a few lbs change, and might get disappointed. weighting everyday i see a slow progress (sometimes youre stuck) and gives me an idea of how im doing and maybe realizing im eating too much, etc

Depends my mood. I do weigh myself at least 1xweek. If I don't keep track, I lose my motivation.

I go back and forth... sometimes I'll weigh myself several times a day, and other times I'll go weeks because I either forgot or don't want to know...

Wherever you are, be there totally. If you find your here and now intolerable and it makes you unhappy, you have three options: remove yourself from the situation, change it, or accept it totally.

I can't bring myself to weigh myself at all. I know that I need to so I don't estimate where I am. I too am above 200 lbs and can't wait to see below that mark. Where did you get the weight tracking graphic that I see on so many messages?

My Goals: Lose 1-3 pounds per week and run 6 days a week!
Feb 28=195
March 31=180
April 30=170

Hi - I weight myself about 4x per day.. way too much. Tomorrow, I am starting a once-a day plan where hopefully I can get to once per week.

My best friend - very slim - has her scale right out in her room and I think she would trip on it before she actually gets on. If we asked her today what she weighed she'd have no idea. I know to the 0.01 of a pound... hmmm.. and who has the weight problem?? Me, of course.

Gladys, I noticed that your starting weight is SO close to mine and so is your goal. I am excited to see below 200... this has gone on long enough.

I can totally relate to your post. It seems my life revolves around thoughts of food, weight, how my clothes fit, etc....It's an endless cycle for me. That is one reason I quit hopping on the scale daily or even at all. Why do I define myself by a number? Whether it's the scale or my clothes size.... emoticon

Do any of you feel that your thinking about your weight consumes most of your thoughts? I think about my weight all the time. Almost as if my life evolves around it. It's either skinny or heavy, good or bad, all or nothing. I need to learn to balance my day/life. I want to enjoy life not be consummed with losing weight or exercising everyday I want it to be able to make these thoughts and actions second nature and not worry about them. I'm not sure if I'm explaining this correctly. Maybe I need to realize this is who I am. emoticon

I weigh weekly, Saturdays. Even that can be frustrating some weeks. I am trying to go by my measurements more than the scale. Inches means loss fat. emoticon

I used to weigh every day, but that seemed to do me more harm than good. If I went up a pound I would get discouraged and then just seem to eat more that day. I find my weight flucuates for different reasons. Honestly I haven't stepped on the scale in almost a month. I go by how my clothes fit. Yes I do need to lose about 30lbs. But for now the scale is a hinderance for me instead of a help.

I think it depends on how you respond to the numbers on the scale. It can be discouraging to do everything "right" only to see the scale stay the same or even move up. On the other hand it can be good to see what you did to yourself if you ate too much the day before.

I weigh every day in the morning but I'm also using my measurements and how my clothes fit to help me judge my success.

My nutritionist and my body trainer both recommend weighing each day, in the morning, before eating. I've been doing that and along with tracking my food and exercise each day, I get a very good idea of the relationship of calories in, cals. out in exercise, and the result on the scale. I've never weighed every day before, because the scale had so much power for me and could send me into a funk for days. But that isn't happening this time around.....praise God!

I don't know what the actual rule is but I weigh about every 3 days, I want to make sure I am headed in the right direction. I have found that first thing in the morning is the best.

How often do you weight yourself? I used to weigh myself everyday then once a week. I've heard to weigh yourself first thing in the morning before you eat breakfast.
