Day 15 of no night time binging. Feeling better mentally, physically and spiritually. Keeping my goals in mind and asking God for help. Transitional prayers are helpful . I ask God to help me be satisfied w/ each meal I eat. When I am tempted I ask God for strength to say no to the desires. We can't get down on our selves when we struggle/slip. We have to accept His grace and cooperate w/ him to better.

Praying for us all that we will be released from this bondage. He is bigger than our food problems.

Lord, what you are commanding me today is not too difficult for me or beyond my reach.

Sabrina, it's so good to see you back here, I miss you when you aren't around. You were one of my main supporters when I started this thread, two years ago. If you look back over my posts, you will clearly see that there isn't anyone who messed up anymore than I did. I do not consider that failures because I keep thinking that I haven't really failed until I fail to try again.

So you know where you have messed up, now pull yourself out of it in baby steps. (That's what I am doing. Don't expect too much at one time and don't beat yourself up for not measuring up to where you want to be. Any small change you can make for the better is a dozen baby steps. Look at a small child, how many times does he fall down; but he gets right back up again. Each time he gets a little more strength in his little legs, he gains more confidence and his fear of not accomplishing his goal of walking vanishes. That's how I see you, me and the rest of us here. As well, we have to think positive, and talk positive. That is how we overcome in the Spirit realm. Christ won all our victories on Calvary. yes, we may lose a few fights; but, the battle is already won, He won it for us. Now by faith see yourself back on track again and with God's help, you'll accomplish it. Draw close to God, tell Him your struggles. He already knows them; but, He desires His children to have close fellowship with Him, daily.
My prayers are with you and with everyone of the ladies here. I believe we are going to report miracles, many have been delivered here already!!! God is definitely in this.

God bless each one of you,
Love in Christ,
Auntbee

We haven't failed until we fail to try again!

I just posted this in a team I joined a week or so ago:

I'm Struggling.

I'm annoyed with myself because I keep going in circles. I'm finding myself getting bigger and bigger again. I'm lost and can't seem to find my way. What am I to do? Sometimes I feel like giving up but that's not who I am. The last couple of days I've cried because I feel so helpless. One of the things that keep me trying is remembering being 305 pounds and how sad and depressing that was. I'm afraid of going back to that but that's exactly where I'm headed if I don't pump the brakes on what I eat and how much of it. I probably have eaten out everyday this week so I'm DONE with that for awhile. I bought groceries yesterday and finished shopping this morning so there's plenty of healthier foods in the house. I know that's a start. NOW, if I can get motivated to work out it would be great. In May I was 190 pounds and now I'm 227. That's 37 lb emoticon 6 mos. I'm going to try to keep it simple and lose the weight I've gained prayerfully. ALL support and encouragement is welcomed.

AUNTBEE~You're right we do need each other. I just feel like a failure and I know I'm NOT. Thank you! emoticon

Day 14 of no night time eating /bingeing. At midnight I came close to eating. I thought about you all. I decided I wanted to be able to say it had been two weeks more than I wanted the food. It felt good to wake up and not have given in to fleshly desires. Glad I have this group!

Hi again ladies,

wonderful dog walk. The tree leaves are finally turning so it is glorious to walk and gaze upon them. I am so grateful my dogs like to stop and sniff. I am blessed with lots of time to enjoy the marvelous color show Mother Natures provides us with at this time of year. It rained yesty so the trees are sparkly clean in the sun today. Very sweet to enjoy.

I have a suggestion. Building upon my earlier observations about choices, I would like to offer a shift in perspective for you. How about if, for tonight, you make an intention to focus on your choices. Just observe them when you make them or as soon as you become aware of them. No judgments. Simply observe them. An impassive observer, if you will.

It may go something like this. I want to eat. Choice comes in now. What are you going to choose to do about this desire? Just observe the process. If you choose to eat, that is your choice. If you choose to have hot tea. That is your choice. NO judgments. Just observe your process.

Remember, whatever your choice is, just observe it.

What do you think about this suggestion?

Each day we begin again.

Hi Ladies and blessings to you all. Each of you can will overcome this challenge!

Paula, I have a degenerative spine also and find ginger and turmeric and white willow bark take care of the stiffness, pain, and inflammation for me. Of course, daily movement helps also.

Auntbee, thank you for your kind words. Yes, I am no longer eating at night. But, this thread is my favorite of all so coming here and offering what I can is a Joy for me. I know all too well the ups and downs of this habit and rejoice with each success and feel compassion for each choice made.

We progress choice by choice. Simple as that. Before each action is a choice. Becoming aware of the choice making process and having alternative choices readily handy to boost our healthy decision making process is part of the path to success. If I reduce the process to choice making, it is easier for me to persist with my intentions. I am not convinced delving into my emotional past is important for success. Maybe it is but I am doing well sticking to momentary choices so will proceed on this path for now.

Dog walk is way late so we are off! Have a great day all and CONGRATULATIONS Auntbee for your successful night!

Yes I myself am trying to not eat at night time. But it gets hard when the hubby doesn't get home until 6:00 at night-then want to fix something for supper and he takes off to walk the dogs-so supper waits till he gets back. I just have to cut what I eat clear down so he feels I'm eating.
I also like herbal teas. Mostly Chamomile, It has a natural anti-inflammatory that helps my back with the arthritis.

Hey-We all need help!

Good morning everyone and a big hello from Canada!! Just thought I would drop in this morning and post my record on Night Time eating; but most of all to say a BIG thank you to everyone for your caring and encouragement. It amazes me how you take the time out of your busy schedule to say a few kind words to spur us on. I really appreciate you!!

Thanks NESARIAN for the hint on herbal teas, I must see what I can find. ( I would like to say a special thank you to you my friend. You have overcome the temptation of Night Time eating, yet you stay around to help us. You are one special lady.

Here's my record:

The Gift
TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
“Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring.”
(Proverbs 27:1, ESV)
TODAY’S WORD from Joel and Victoria

Do you see every day as a blessed gift from God? Many times when we hear this, we may be tempted to brush it off and say, “Yeah, yeah, I know. Every day is special.” But truly it is! God ordained this day before the foundation of the earth. He has already ordered blessings for you. He has already orchestrated the right opportunities for you. He has already made the right connections for you. On top of that, the air you breathe, the food you eat, and the sunshine on your face are all part of the great blessing that God gives us daily.

Remember, we’re not promised tomorrow, so why waste a single moment living life defeated and depressed? Our attitude should not be, “I have to take care of the kids,” or “I have to mow the lawn today.” It should be, “I get to take care of the kids God has blessed me with,” or “I get to go out and mow the lawn today. That’s part of the house that God has provided.” See every opportunity as a gift. Count your blessings and watch Him multiply them exceedingly all the days of your life!
A PRAYER FOR TODAY
Father, thank You for giving me this wonderful day. Thank You for every blessing You have prepared. Strengthen me with Your joy and fill me with Your peace as I keep my mind stayed on You in Jesus’ name. Amen.
— Joel & Victoria Osteen

Yay for buddies! Auntbee, I like many herbal teas. Any of the mint teas are tasty to me. Just be sure the tea is decaf. Herbal teas usually are but green tea has caffeine so it needs to be decaf. I am not fond of green tea either and have to mix mint and fresh lime juice to make green tea palatable.

I am not sure what brands your island stores carry but Celestial Seasonings has a large variety of yummy herbal teas. You could probably go online and order them that way. They have sampler packs that could be a good way to try some. Choice is important to me so I keep a large variety at all times.

I am excited for you both! Hugs and many blessings to you both!

Good morning Ladies. Wonderful day we have to enjoy.

{{{Bre}}} This is a process. Today is a new day. Each day we begin again.

Auntbee, I enjoy your devotionals and am so glad you are sharing them. Each morning, I look forward to seeing what you have posted.

Auntbee, I think you hit the nail on the head. If we do not eat enough during the day, of course our nutritionally deprived body is going to send our a desperate SOS to get food. My ideal way to eat is to not eat til 3pm. Then, I don't quit til midnight. I just do not care to eat or make or think about breakfast. Funny thing is, when I do eat 3 meals in a timely fashion, I feel so much better. Doing it is another thing. My work is cut out for me. emoticon

Enjoy your day all and make conscious food choices. I am going to make breakfast now...

Each day we begin again.

Day 13 of no night time/ binge eating. Concentrating on the success :) not the negative thoughts.

Auntbee: great scripture/devotional. I can relate to not eating enough calories during the day and then over eating in the evening. I' ve done that a lot so it is a good reminder to all. That's why I like it when we are honest w/ each other- because we learn from each other. Have a great day and especially evening!

Lord, what you are commanding me today is not too difficult for me or beyond my reach.

Closer Than You Think
TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
“Do not cast away your confidence, which has great reward.”
(Hebrews 10:35, NKJV)
TODAY’S WORD from Joel and Victoria

Have you been praying and believing for something that seems like it’s taking a lot longer than you thought? Many times, people can miss God’s best simply because they give up before they see their “due season” come. Don’t let that be you! Be encouraged today, your answer is closer than you think. If it seems like things are getting more difficult, remember, when the intensity heats up, that means you are closer to your victory. It always seems darkest just before the dawn arrives.

We serve a faithful God, and He’s working behind the scenes on your behalf. Don’t cast away your confidence today because your reward is coming. And just like a new mother forgets about her labor pain once she is finally holding her newborn, you’ll forget about your struggle when you are holding on to your promise. While you are waiting, keep an attitude of faith and expectancy. Wake up every morning and say out loud, “I’ve come too far to give up now. My due season is coming. I will reap my harvest.” Stay in faith and look for His hand of blessing because He has promised you victory, and it’s closer than you think!
A PRAYER FOR TODAY
Father in heaven, today I stand believing that You are working behind the scenes on my behalf. Give me Your strength to stand in faith until I see every promise fulfilled in my life in Jesus’ name. Amen.
— Joel & Victoria Osteen

Had a bad night last night; but I know why, and I will do better tonight. I didn't eat enough during the day and had to eat something. Of course once I started eating, it was straight back to the old habit of shoveling it in.

Hope everyone is having a FANTASTIC day!

Thanks my dear friend, NESARIAN!!

How about we focus on adding joy to our day and share how we do that:

For me, joy is to be able to get out of the bed in the mornings, to have good health, a wonderful family, a loving Heavenly Father, and to make someone happy that I am alive. I want to touch some life everyday for Jesus!

Excellent effort!

I like what you pointed out about achieving success but not feeling joy about it. SP often talks about rewarding ourselves along our goals. I am not in the habit of stopping and celebrating my successes either. I do have the habit of my comfort routine at night of lighting candles and enjoying a mug of herbal tea. That could be reflective time to go over my successes during the day. Thank you for the idea.

Auntbee, I am so happy to see you back here. We do not have to be perfect here. Just authentic. Reading about another person's struggles can be helpful with our own.

How about we focus on adding joy to our day and share how we do that?

Congrats to all for your efforts and learning from your step backs. Whoo hooo! All for one and one for all! We can do this!

Each day we begin again.

I feel joy for you, I can't wait to get that far.

I can fully understand you having success but not experiencing the joy of it. I too suffer with anxiety from time to time.
The secret to overcoming anxiety?? You already answered my question when you posted this comment, "struggling w/ surrendering some issues to God. ".
Sometimes surrendering is easy; but, the struggle comes when we pull it back from God and try to work it out ourselves. He wants us to totally surrender all. It's like taking your pot off the front burner and placing it on the back burner and leaving it there. Yes, we care about the situation/situations but we don't have the answer; so we give it to God and He does work it out in His time, usually when we least expect it, and usually when it's the last thing on our minds.
I am here for you!! Feel free to inbox me, I have a good listening ear and of course it will be in confidence. I will share it with one other person ONLY, the Lord Jesus! And He already knows about your struggles, and He cares very much! He will give you the desires of your heart, just remain true and faithful to Him!
God bless you,
Auntbee

Well . . .it is day 12 of no night time binge eating. Having said that, I am having a lot of obsessional thoughts about food. Experiencing anxiety and struggling w/ surrendering some issues to God. However, I am committed to not eating over it!

Good scripture today. Funny, that I am having success but not experiencing the joy in it!

Good job you guys! There is a lot of progress being made in this group. Keep it up. One night at a time.

Lord, what you are commanding me today is not too difficult for me or beyond my reach.

Here's GREAT, positive words for all of us:

Remember Your Victories
TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
“Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph...”
(2 Corinthians 2:14, NKJV)
TODAY’S WORD from Joel and Victoria

When you think about your past, what events do you remember? What memories do you allow to play over and over in your mind? In the Old Testament, they had what they called memorial stones. These were used to remind the people about the good things God did in their lives — their victories.

Today, we need to remind ourselves to focus on our victories, too. Sure, we’ve all had setbacks, but when you meditate on your disappointments and failures, it only drains you of valuable energy. It steals your confidence and joy. But when you focus on your victories, it builds your strength and confidence. It feeds your faith. It gives you a reason to give God praise.

I encourage you today to get into the habit of focusing on your victories. Remember, every good and perfect gift comes from Him. As you praise and thank Him for His favor and victory in your life, He’ll pour out His blessing on you. He’ll open up supernatural doors for you to move forward in strength to fulfill the dreams and desires He has placed in your heart!
A PRAYER FOR TODAY
Father, thank You for Your goodness and faithfulness in my life. I choose to focus on my victories and let go of any negative experiences in my past. I bless and praise You today in Jesus’ name. Amen.
— Joel & Victoria Osteen

SLIMDOWN31 that is AWESOMEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

BRE keep up the good work...You'll make it. Remember baby steps are better than no steps.

NESARIAN I like the way you are so organized in your eating habits. I had a yogurt with 2 teaspoons of flax in it, for my snack after dinner and it kept me feeling full.

No, I don't find it more difficult this time of the year. When you are addicted the way I was, it's difficult all the time. Having said that, I am very happy to say I had another good night. I did eat a couple of candies; but I am not counting that because that is nothing compared to the HUGE piles of food I use to shovel in..LOL...I still have to be careful because even eating candy can become a habit and may make it easier for me to give in and eat all those carbs that I use to crave.

I am coming down on the scales too emoticon
I have made Sunday my weigh in day because that is when I started again. I will let you know this coming Sunday how many pounds are down the sewer emoticon

I am so pleased with how you are all doing. Let's keep it up ladies, I see a bright light at the end of our dark tunnels.

Here is my record:
emoticon emoticon emoticon

Hope you all have a FANTASTIC day!

This is exciting!!! We each in our own time and way, can say goodbye to night time eating. It is exciting to get that first night behind you and it is a huge accomplishment. And it doesn't matter if you get 5 days in a row and then slip. You evaluate it, learn from it and start again. Each time you do you can go longer and longer. Eventually, night time eating will be the exception rather than the rule. Lets go! I'm on day eleven!

Lord, what you are commanding me today is not too difficult for me or beyond my reach.

BRE! I am behind you all the way. Tonight is your night! Whoo hooooo!

Auntbee, you are such a love. I would truly enjoy a yam over tea. If I could just find my travel machine, I would set a date with you!

I am curious. Does this time of year become more challenging for night eating? It does for me. It is dark by 4:30pm so dinner is early and I find I am hungry again. I have been saving fruit and yogurt and nuts to eat about 7pm and this seems to help so far. My tea saves me about 9. By 9:30, I am yawning and ready for bed. I sleep much better this time of year. How about anyone else?

Congrats Auntbee! emoticon emoticon Whoo hooo to you!

Looking forward to celebrating with others tomorrow!

Hugs to all!

Morning all! Auntbee, I am not sure what your emoticon is saying. Smiley face so I am guessing it is encouraging. 2 steps forward and one step back, maybe? All my steps back have been learning lessons so I have learned to look at them as messages from my higher self.
When I pay attention, I find I really know what I need to do. Doing it is another thing. emoticon

Off to walk dogs so will check in later.

Hugs to all! emoticon

Thanks my dear supporter & friend, NESARIAN. You are a treasure you know!!! I appreciate your patience, the time you give us and your words of wisdom. Wish I could sit and sip tea with you and have a good old yarn...(Chat),...Maybe some day, who knows emoticon ..

Just look at you SLIMINDOWN31, 10 days/ nights ..That is AWESOME!!!!
I like what you said and it is so true, you said, and I quote, "Really had to tell myself that I would feel worse if I did eat. I have to remember how good it feels when I don't give in and stick to my goals." ...I'm going to use that approach tonight as I aim for night two. Thanks for the incentive!! Thanks for the Goodie, how thoughtful of you!!!

Praying that all you ladies have a WONDERFUL evening.

Big hugs,
Auntbee

Day ten of no night time binging! I really wanted to eat last night. I felt a lot of anxiety and wanted to eat over it. Really had to tell myself that I would feel worse if I did eat. I have to remember how good it feels when I don't give in and stick to my goals. I have a very short memory when it comes to food : {

Great morning to you all! I see congratulations are in order for Auntbee and Bre. Great job ladies! Build on your success and enjoy it.

Auntbee, thank you for your honesty about why you have been missing. I think it took courage to say such and I applaud you. Speaking for myself, I do not see your struggles as letting anyone down. We all are struggling here and I find it helpful when others share their struggles and what they find works or not. It is final;y cold enough for me to enjoy hot tea at night so I am drinking tea in lieu of eating. My hubby has hot spiced apple cider. I just sniff his and enjoy the fragrance. I enjoy my tea and feel good about my choice.

Auntbee, thank you for the morning message. It spoke to me today. I really needed to hear it too.

Congratulations ladies! emoticon emoticon

Here is part of my morning devotion, I feel it is so fitting and PERFECT TIMING on God's part:
Trust His Timing
TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
“My times are in Your hand...”
(Psalm 31:15, NASB)
TODAY’S WORD from Joel and Victoria

One thing I’ve learned is that God doesn’t always work on our time table. In fact, He rarely does. But, in a single moment, God can change your life! All throughout scripture, we see examples of how God was working behind the scenes and instantly turned things around for His people. Scripture tells us He is the same yesterday, today and forever which means if He did it for them, He can instantly turn things around for you, too!

You may be going through some difficulty today, but be encouraged because your times are in God’s hands. Trust that He has your best interest at heart. He wants to pour out His favor. He wants to take you further than you dreamed possible and work in your life in ways beyond what you have ever imagined.

Let this truth sink down into your heart today. Resist discouragement by speaking His Word over your future. Keep standing, keep hoping and keep believing because He is working behind the scenes. Have faith because your times are in His hands, and He will lead you in the life of victory He has for you!
A PRAYER FOR TODAY
Father, today I humbly come before You giving You all that I am. I trust that my times are in Your hands. I trust that You are working things out in my favor. I set my focus on You knowing that You are working things out for my good in Jesus’ name. Amen.
— Joel & Victoria Osteen
