Welcome. I also journal a lot. This year my family have been going through several crisis situations and it has given me "the excuse" to eat. Right!!!! I am back on track right now and am losing a little of what I gained back. Hang in there. You will get past it. Jude

RATZLAFF: I blog when I'm on computer and feeling need to; journal on paper other times; am going to now keep my journal in the kitchen rather than my bedroom, as this is where I think I need it handy when feeling those overwhelming urges to eat!!

Being southern, I was born with the "need to feed" others and myself. I'm a good cook from a family of good cooks so in addition to the emotional eating, social eating is a big part of my life. I'm doing pretty well this week but next week who knows?

Question: I notice encouragement to journal. Does writing a blog work just as well? I have never tried that, but now that I am SP and am on my computer alot I wondered if that was a good substitute.

Hello and Welcome, I realized that I am an emotional eater as well. Just last month my aunt passed and that month I gained six pounds because I could not stop eating. I think the key to controlling your eating is to try to get in the habit of writing everything you put in your month. Another thing that is helping me is writing in the journal to let my feelings out and last do not buy any junk food so if you do have a bad day you are not eating junk just healthy foods.

Hello and welcome. Hope that today is a better day for you with eating healthier. Write down in a journal what you eat, the time you eat it and how many calories. I would also note what type of mood you were in at the time of eating. This might help.

I joined this group a while back and thought I had my eating under control until I recently hit some problems and starting eating the wrong things and too much of them again (I had changed my eating habits to healthier foods over the past 6 months).

I'm going to start reading all the posts now and try to get back on track.
