thanx

this is just one of those ugly things that only time will tell

but i also have to make sure- somehow- that i'm not already getting my head the excuses to fail

so i'm working on it

this next month- next 10 lbs- is very key for me

but then, aren't they all???

i wish someone had some easy answers here!

i do the same thing, every single time

i'm just about to the same weight i got to last summer- after dieting
and the same weight the summer before, after dieting

but it's been a million years since i got much lower

so i'm scared, nervous... and also afraid that i may be intentionally quitting in my head to set myself up for not succeeding

so i believe this next month is crucial to me

but i blow my own goals too often

i'm struggling to get through this

I hear you! I lost 24 pounds about a year and a half ago and gained that back plus some. I got comfortable with food too much and reverted back to my old ways. No my body is paying the price. I am determined to surpass the 24 pound mark this time around. My immediate goal is 20 then 25. I am taking it slow right now because I have a really severe love/hate relationship with food. I love to eat it and it tastes sooooo good, then I hate it because it drew me in once again to sabotage my weight loss. I am trying to get a handle on it though.

JulieBird23, I think you said it for everyone, I was just thinking the same thing yesterday, I have a great week, overeat on the weekends, and then weigh myself on Sundays and the scale hardly if at all moves.............I for some reason am really good at doing this to myself, and am really looking at what I am doing and when to try to change my thoughts and ways of handling life. Dont give up the fight...........

I have never lost more than 20 lbs without gaining back that 20 and usually more. I have tried so many times. I have gotten so close again and find myself going back to the old habits. Even though I want so badly to continue on, I can't help myself. It must be a self-esteem thing....maybe we could get a group rate with a analyst!!
All we can do is try...try...again!! hang in there!!

Wow, I'm glad I'm not the only one going through this. I usually get that way when I get to 199. I have done it time and time again. I'm at 204 right now and I am trying not to weigh in for the next couple of weeks. Good luck to everyone.

I dont think I can help on this one but i can relate. After I had my daughter i went on weight watchers and got down to 127lbs - i was in heaven - but wanted to loose like 5 or so more - well my daughters 1st bday came and i had cake and that was the end of that! After that day I just kept gaining weight even though in my heart i wanted to loose - so i certainly sabotoged myself.

Colleen, You said it - Several of my ex's cheated on me and I think I feel that if I am heavy & he cheats then there is an excuse. Stupid reason, but can't shake it. But you are right, it really helps to talk about it with people who understand!! Thanks for being there and being willing to share.

Hey Julie, I'm on Weight Watchers too and so is the friend who stopped weighing herself when she'd start the sabotage routine. You don't have to weigh in when you go to a meeting. And if you do just have them fold the card back up and DON'T LOOK!!! Good luck... emoticon

I know exactly what you mean but I am not sure I have any answers. I think with me it has something to do with a fear of being hurt by a potential "boyfriend". As long as I am heavy, nobody will be interested. If I get thin, there is the potential of somebody actually showing some interest and I will just get let down again. Even understanding these feelings does not help me overpower them, but just talking about it helps.

Wow, I don't know why I thought I was the only one. I can do great for about 2 wks. I'll lose 10-14 lbs and then just crash & burn. I don't know that the scale is the problem, cause I can go weeks without it. I think maybe SMITHETTI called it for me. Maybe I'm afraid of getting thin again or maybe somewhere deep inside I think I don't deserve it. Anyone have any suggestions on how to deal with those emotions??

I am having trouble staying away from the scale! Seems that it is just calling me, even when I know that I shouldn't be weighing in. I am trying to limit myself to twice a week.

I been saying that I should throw that stupid scale in the same closet with the mirror. My plan is to be healthy first....the weight will be a bonus. I agree. I will try not to weigh myself for a couple of weeks and let you know how I do....thanks for that tip.....

I have the answer!!!! A friend of mine and I have gone through this and finally found the answer. Stop weighing yourself. Ha! When you're close to a goal don't weigh yourself for a certain amount of time. You're going to be pretty paranoid that next time you get on the scale it will be a big nasty surprise and it will help keep you OP. Make it two or three weeks and stay positive. Make it personal between you and the scale. Fight for those couple pounds and beat that scale!!! You can do it, we all can!

I am right there with you...we are so close to saying goodbye to 200 (also at 201). My only sugestion is to take it one day at a time. If you have to, one minute at a time. Remember, the ultimate goal is health, weight is just a fringe benefit.....if you don't look at the weight, maybe you can get past it......no?

I am so good at self sabotaging, its so silly. Its like i get so far with weight loss and then i start eating rubbish again. Its like i get scared of what being slim will be like....or perhaps dont think i deserve to be thin unconsiously that is! but yeah id like to know if anyone knows how to prevent this happening x

I sabotage myself too whenever I get close to a goal. I am close to reaching my first 20 pound goal right now and all I want to do is eat, and I am really grumpy too! I am so far not eating, but I feel hungry even when I know I shouldn't be. I am relying on distraction for the time being.

Hi everyone!

I've noticed a pattern with myself. Every time I get close to hitting a new goal...I start sabotaging myself. I am THIS close to getting into Onederland and I've been going over points and not exercising. I gained 0.4lbs this week, which I thought I got off pretty easy. I always get back OP, but I wish I didn't ever get off plan to begin with. Does anyone have any good tips on how to prevent this? And have you noticed patterns with your own weight loss?
