Anni, I wish you great success on your yard/craft sale! I need to get some pareos as they sound like something that I would wear.
Hubby and I cleaned the yard up somewhat yesterday. We moved some plants around and I repotted/planted some. He found a dead possum in the dogs' yard. Ugh. I think it's possible it was responsible for killing our baby chicks along with the rats. We just put them up at night until they are bigger.
I smoked a brisket, and it came out pretty good. Hubby and my son raised the smoker up so I wouldn't have a hard time using it. I had to bend over and my back didn't like it. They put it up on cinder blocks, and I love it.

Denise, love grilling out!! Especially grilling veggies. It's Hot and Humid here too. You'd think the mountains would be cool to some extend but the valleys trap the heat and hold it. I dug out my Pareos and have been wearing them to stay cool, since they can be worn is several different ways.
Taking a break from the team. We have a lot to do getting things ready for the yard/craft sale, banquet and ritual for the Summer Solstice.

Still hot and humid. LOL Hubby and I shopped today. Bought groceries and other odds and ends.
Had a late lunch so just fixed sandwiches for dinner. Tomorrow being Father's day we'll probably grill out.

Denise-Good to see you posting. Was wondering where you were. Not a fan of the heat either. Things will work out with your Mom. Know it's hard to do, but think Positive about the situation. At least you have time to regroup, think things over about possible solutions and make a decision.
I think the Wheel of the Year turns a little slower during the cold of winter and the heat of summer.

It's been hot and humid here. The heat index is over 100 degrees. I don't really do well when it's that hot. I like the cold, and so does my body. When it gets hot I tend to get rashes in delicate places mostly because of my belly overhang, and being obese. I finally discovered Monkey Butt powder which hubby bought for me as a joke. It really works. LOL
My daughter said that my mother is going to stay until mid July at the nursing home. I actually think she'd be better off staying permanently but I have no say. It's been nice not having the games she's played before.

So is love why the boys are exhausting me??? The little one is climbing out of his crib now and so I have to stay in his room until he falls asleep...about an hour of telling him to lay down and go to sleep...ok so today's nap only took me 15 minutes or so, but I am still exhausted.

Still working on prepping the house for sale...you have to make it look move in ready. Not many people want a huge project just to live in a new place. Not that my house is junky now, but there is plenty I need to do to make it look better. I think I could get it done if I focused better, but I have 2 very big distractions in my life right now...Thing 1 and Thing 2...LOL...but they are just as busy and good at making messes.

I really like to know who I angered. Yesterday, I got in my car, turned it on, rolled down the windows to air it hot since it was really hot inside. I turned on the ac and let it blow for a bit, and then rolled up the windows. Well, my car door's window didn't roll up. I heard some weird noise, and hubby told me we have to take it to get fixed. Ugh. I think it's over $300 to fix it. At least it's ready now. Maybe I'm just getting all of the bad stuff at once, and then I'll have a period of peace. LOL

A suggestion for the team...another team I am on gave me a bronze medal goodie for being third on the leader board for the team in points. They also sent out a team email listing the top three leaders in points and fitness minutes for the month of May...it was actually rather motivating...I am gearing up to try and get in lots more fitness minutes for this month so that maybe I can be leader in that area. This could be something the leaders here can do for us as well...it was a surprise to me when I got the goodie, as I never check that info out, but I will now.
I will be packing up more of the house to be put in storage so we can put the house on the market. Hope you are all well and I will try to check in when I can.

Okay the latest on my mother is that when she is released from the hospital, when ever that may be, she will go into a nursing home for rehab. Now if she gets to where she can take care of herself then she can go home. If she can't she will probably stay there. Hubby and I will probably have to pay the $75 a day that her insurance doesn't cover. sigh.
On the plus side, I am doing better with eating, as I am thinking before I eat. Like if I'm really hungry or just stressed.

Denise, Sorry to read about your Diabetic scores being so high. Your body will come around to what it needs, just tune in more to your body, listen to what it is telling you. Several of my friends are diabetics and for some reason in the last 18 months their doctors have reduced their daily shots, cut out the shots all together and replaced it with a pill. One is even using that Flex Pen, which she's getting use to. They all seem to be doing just fine.
Got to run storms are breaking dangerously overhead, and we have a funeral and graveside service today.

Denise if you have the Spark Solution, they have a menu plan and grocery list in the book for you. It is a great way to not have to think about what to cook each day.
So sorry your mom is still in the hospital, but it is a good place and she will not be able to play her games as readily there either. You can rest a little easier in that knowledge.
Anni, you do have a wonderful coven and group...sounds very nice. My group is great as well, though we are not as active. I have family restraints that keep me from being more active...toddlers and in-laws who don't know about my religion.

Update on my mother. She's still in the hospital. They don't know what/why her tail bone area is still hurting. She'll be there awhile until they figure it out.
I went to the doctor's on Tuesday. And my test results for my diabetes, A1c, went up higher. Not good. Now I am on insulin twice a day, and am taking another pill that's suppose to flush extra sugar through my urine. I have got to do better. More exercise, and vegetables & fruit.
Anni, I wish I lived close to you, so I can join your coven. I don't know any pagans here. It sounds like fun with your activities.
Tes, I don't know why mushrooms only bother you sometimes. Are they the same type? Allergies can be hard to figure out.
I am going to sit down and figure out my menu for next week with all meals planned. Hubby and I go grocery shopping Saturday morning, so I'd like to have the list and coupons ready.

Tes-I'm a retired baby boomer, as are most of the Coven members, live in a small town, population less than 1,000, in a county that my Mom's family settled back in the early 1800s, and Gateway to the Ozark Mountains. All of the women in the Coven live within 15 mile radius of each other. Our boyfriends/husbands are very, very, supportive of us practicing the craft of the wise. We even get them involved when we get our phone tree going, trust me you don't want to know about the phone tree. I have blogged about that here at SP. What we do we give back into the communities that we live in and it usually comes back to us three fold in many positive ways. We're now getting ready for our Summer Solstice Yard Sale, Craft Sale, and Banquet to raise money to help families pay their utility bills for the summer. We're even going to set up a couple of tables for Card Readings. This will be the 3d year for this activity. We set a goal last year to finish within the top 1/4 at the Race for the Cure and we did, all 28 of us!! The ages of our group are 55-67 the youngest being my neice who is in her 20s and second generation pagan. We have no gripes with each other, problems or anything like that. One of the things we do at ritual be it New Moon, Full Moon or Sabbat is pass the Speaking Stick. Passing the Speaking Stick works well for families too. We've all worked, gained knowledge and gaining more knowledge to pass on. It has taken at least 3 years for the town to get use to me let alone the group but we are a bit more visible now since we wog (jog + walk) each morning, celebrate our rituals in my front yard, and eat lunch at least one day a week at the Senior Center which is directly across the street from my home and losing money fast because so many of it's members have crossed the Rainbow Bridge to the Summerland in the last year.
All are welcome, no harsh words to be spoken, and if you want tarot card reading that works too.

My only vacation is with family, not just hubby and kids, but his mom, brother & his wife and kids. While I don't mind too much, I cannot be myself around them...pagan. Sometimes I wish I had waited to marry someone who was also pagan, not catholic. My hubby is supportive of my religion and understands it, but his family isn't understanding and doesn't know. So I can't be myself. Also his mom has an issue with us moving out to the farm. So I can't talk about that either. Grrrrrrr........
So question? Why do mushrooms only sometimes bloat me up like a toad and put me in a lot of pain?

In a bit of a crappy mood. Didn't get a good sleep and find out the cottage we were going to rent wants another $450 as damage deposit. We don't have it so will probably be cancelling. I want some time in nature. But my hubby said we could get some cots and go camping instead. So that would work. I need a break!

Oh...summer solstice...I wish I was going to our local Midsummer Gather...I miss the spiritual time.

Tes, so glad your deck is done. I bought the Spark Solutions book and am now reading it. I need a good jump start.
I have a doctor's appointment this afternoon. My yearly, and I'm probably not going to like my tests results.
Well my mother is in the hospital. She finally did an MRI and they found an infection on her tail bone area. They are going to do a biopsy on it. Right now she's getting a strong antibiotic. If she had just listen to me and went to her doctor instead of cancelling the appointment. Plus it doesn't help that she usually plays games, so it's hard to believe her when something is wrong. UGH!

We completed our deck today... I am so glad it is finally done. Should have been done 7 years ago, but you know how it goes. only gets done when you need to sell.
Still sticking to the Spark Solution plan...but need to go shopping and won't get that done until tomorrow.

We are working in the yard and grilling today. My son and his wife are coming over to help both in working and eating. LOL
At least for now my mother has settled down. My daughter went over there last night, and is going over today. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Vent all you need to, Denise...we are here for you. That is such a struggle, when a parent resorts to those types of games.
FYI: I decided to get on the scale again this morning just to see if the weight loss shown yesterday was a farce...well...I was down another 4 more pounds...WOO-HOO!!! I am so loving this change...will be interesting to see if my family notices changes when they see me next. The only people I have told is my mom and daughter, though neither know about the current 4 more pounds.

Tes, Way to go!!! I bought the book, and I should get it today.
I am trying really hard not to blow up at my mom. I have done pretty good so far. My daughter went over there last night and she found out that my mom is giving a neighbor her debit card so he can buy her cigarettes and pick up her meds. My daughter told her she would pick them up. This weekend we are going to discuss what we'll do with my mother, so that we'll be on the same page. We hate that she's playing games with us. I want to put her in an assistant living home so she has help 24/7 but she says she won't go, and I can't make her without going through courts. One of the things that's helped me from blowing up at her is posting here, so I hope you all don't mind. At least I have my hubby, and kids.

Denise, Moms can get that way. Just remember the good times y'all had together. That's how I got thru the same thing with my Mom.
Tes substitutes are sometimes more healthy for you that what's on the diet.
Memorial Day weekend is here. Tomorrow, we go down to the park to decorate the floats for the parade thru town and around courthouse square for the parade on Monday.

I wanted to try everything on the menu at least once, sometimes our taste buds change and we like foods we didn't before, or if made in a new way we like them better...I can certainly substitute as needed...I am allergic to milk so have been substituting the milk and cheeses as well as other foods I don't like or am allergic to.
I can't wait till we move out to the farm and I can plant a garden again. Working on selling this place so am not planting foods this year.
Denise - so sorry your mom is stressing you...just remember our time on this Earth is so short and to cherish the time you have with her...I lost my dad suddenly about 1 1/2 years ago due to a heart attack. It was best for him to go that way, but it is still sad to be without him. Be thoughtful in your reactions/responses to her and be content with yourself at the end of each day in case you wake to her gone tomorrow.

Ugh, my mother is such a pain in the you know where. She's playing games and it's stressing me out. Today I am taking her to her doctor, so I hope we can get some things straighten out.
Tes, I like oatmeal and love putting fruit in it. But I found out if a plan has food in it that you don't care for it won't work in the long run. Will it let you substitute something else?
Anni, blueberries are one of my favorite fruit. In fact I'm planting a few bushes.

Ok so I could only stomach 2/3 of the oatmeal...seems to be a textural thing for me, the flavor is fine especially with the blueberries in it.
The curry tuna sandwich was tasty, could do that again. I posted a picture of lunch on my blog today.

Had a great first day on the Spark Solution Challenge. Today's menu will be a bit of a challenge, but I am willing to give it a try. Don't care for oatmeal, almonds, or curry.
Doing my exercise with my 4 yo and while the little one was napping worked out well. Will do that again.

I have lots to accomplish today. So will not blog long...SP Challenge so far so good. Breakfast was wonderful, I am allergic to milk and don't drink coffee so I saved a few calories this morning. I do drink tea and always drink it without sugar or creamer, so had that instead. I already got my weight and measurements done as well as bathing both boys and breakfast...it is 9:30 here. So I have gotten in some NEAT for the day already. Need to go shopping with all three kids soon and change out baby's bedding.
So I guess I better get going...see you all later...I usually check in around meal time as my lap top is on the table so I can log my foods and other activities.

I was a solitaire for many years, but felt i needed to join a group to have others to practice with, more than anything else. I personally work mostly with the Egyptian Pantheon, mostly Isis, Horus, Osiris, Anubis, and lately Sekmet. She came to me for my first degree initiation. What a lovely goddess!!
Well I should get the little one to bed...then the granddaughter will head to bed in another hour or so. Had to put my older one to bed early...acting up and not feeling well...

I am a solitaire not by choice but because I haven't found anyone else around here. There was a metaphysical shop but it closed down after a few months. It would be nice to sit around and actually talk to someone else.
Hubby left this morning to go up to Marietta, GA because he has to take a test for a certificate he needs for work. DD will be gone today for a get together with her friends. I get to enjoy being alone on a Sunday which doesn't happen. I am staying home and repotting some plants I bought, and moving them around. It's a hot and humid day, so I should work up a good sweat.

We may have it going on...but there are only 7 of us...we used to be close to 13, but have lost 3 members in the last year...and a couple before that...it sucks that we are so small, but then it makes it cozy too.

Tes-sounds like you and your coven have it going on. There's 28 in the one I'm in. We stay pretty active, we've been practicing for well over a year now and we're getting ready to do a Hunger Run in the next county over. In the last couple of months The Spiral Dance by Starhawk has made the rounds of our coven. We've been inspired and work more closely together.
Well another weekend and the Capt'n goes back for a week of work on the Gulf Coast. Going to spend some time with him today. One thing I have noticed: he is always working when we are casting, conjuring, and just generally having a good time at ritual.

Doing better today...it is raining here, so hoping it will dry out later for DH and I to complete the deck project...then all those tools can get put away, so maybe next week I can work on the rock removal when it is dry.
Had coven gather last night and it was good. Somehow I think we are getting a bit off track. Our group has been trying to connect with the original gods of this area. We have made some inroads and connections. Last night the 3 that designed the "ritual" (and I use this term loosely) decided we would have a picnic and share stories...though it was great bonding with the group in a new way, it really didn't seem like a great way to connect with the gods. I am part of the planning group for next month and one of the other planners wants to do a walk to connect with the gods in a different part of the city. While this is a great idea...I still feel like there is something missing. I have no trouble speaking up and voicing my opinions in the group or with an individual member...I am just a bit unclear as to what I think is missing here.
A little background: we are an eclectic group, none of us individually works with the same gods/spirits we came together to practice together and grow together. We are not a teaching coven. For the year we decided to learn of the original gods of this place as a way to make the group more cohesive and have a more clear direction of what we are doing/where we are going.

The Pico de Gallo is pretty good though I think next time I'll add a second jalapeno in it. I like a bit of heat, but not too much.
Tes - I know the feeling of having to move things just to do a project. I'm guilty of it, and I know it's frustrating. Hang in there.
Anni - I love thunderstorms! For me they are calming. I use to have a tape that had thunderstorm and classical music that I used to help me calm my mind down so I could fall asleep.
I am just going to do a few things and a couple of errands today. I hope everyone is doing well.

Just a short one today.
Tes-Know the feeling about cleaning tools before working with them. When you have to clean them just to work with them it does make things somewhat grrrrrr as you write.
Listening to the rain, it's the front end of the storms that hit TX last night. Doing a crock pot supper tonight and doing online readings in between.

Yeah...the dining table...that is another issue at my house too...I did manage to get all the dishes done yesterday and all but 3 loads of laundry done as well. No rocks removed...oh well. So today...a minor bit of morning dishes, finish laundry, and rock removal. I also read the last of the Spark Solution so am nearly ready to start the challenge next Monday. Need to review the grocery list and pair it down to what I actually need.
I have my little snuggle buddy on my lap this morning as I type. He is such a cutie. He is running a fever...thinking he is cutting teeth...but we have been thinking that for a while now and no teeth have come through. So let's hope this time it will happen.

My hubby swears I'm adopted. My mother is something else. LOL Oh well.
I made some Pico de Gallo yesterday, and I think it came out pretty good. It should taste better this morning. I like putting this over rice and other things for a low calorie flavor burst.
I am keeping the kitchen clean so it's nice to go into first thing in the morning. Now if I can keep the dining table cleared that would be awesome. LOL

I tried getting dishes done every night so I would have a clean kitchen in the mornings...yes it was very nice, but I got tired of doing dishes and so it too has fallen by the wayside...with DH working 80 hrs a week I am stuck doing everything around the house all the time...let me tell you it gets real old.
Sorry you are having issues with your mom now. Denise...always willing to lend an ear or advised as needed.
Anni - I don't think I could keep up with you...though I do my own thing that other people say they couldn't keep up with either. I will get the rocks done...plan to do a couple loads each day starting tomorrow as it is supposed to be 90 degrees today. I did manage to repair one of my deck chairs (my fingers are very sore from the hand sewing) and I repaired the basketball hoop net with zip ties...that one was easy.
