Were you able compete all of the marathon?
Sorry about sitting on the side of the road in the end, life just got to much to try to juggle diet in too. It was good for me to keep me on track and make me think about the foods that I was eating.

Life has been so busy... Sorry I haven't got to the computer for a while.

I was helping my daughter baby sit at the fair and our car was hit - no one was hurt, but they were saying it was our fault and we were parked. So for the past few days it has been trying to fight with insurance company. They finally ruled the other guy was at fault.
We have also had family in, then they headed home and husband wanted to pick berries so we were up in the woods one night, then more family.

Life is just tooooo busy.
I have been eating pretty well. I will try to do another marathon when things slow down. I finished up with eating clean, but not able to calculate any. I would love to set up a menu and make sure i am getting all the nutrients that I need, but I will have to wait till the big kids go back to school, and I get the babies into a schedule.

How did your weight in go?

day 24 25 and 26 went well, except that on day 24 we went out to eat and I had some processed foods and a diet coke. It's that pesky .2 of the marathon that was the hardest. I ate good food today, just too much of it. I guess I did OK for the first .33 part of the day, so was it my post-race carbo loading?? Hope y'all have a better go of it.

day 23, doing good! except that for the last several days I haven't eaten anywhere near the minimum amount of calories. I am not hungry, I think it is because I have been eating more in the morning and eating barley for lunch. It is very filling.

I think you are going to finish before me. I am having a hard time getting going with having a full run of kids during the day and redoing the play room as well as fair in the evenings, and this weekend. I keep starting over with my rice in am... but then I grab nuts to get me through the day as I wasn't taking breaks the past few days then try to grab rice on way out the door, but in the evening I have been starving so I have been having a brot.
Will try to pick up on day 24 again tomorrow.

Day 24 and 25 I sat beside the road, will redo. I had a some coffee, and to many nuts and chips. Even though they are healthy i am finding i have more sores on my feet and allergy symptoms, as well as back hip and neck pain.

I will start with a fresh pot of rice this am.

I am doing heavy sorting/ cleaning, and changing both play rooms around. I am going to be having all 6 daycare kids 3 and under so we are deep cleaning and putting out more baby stuff and putting big kids items into the storage. It will be nice when it is done but it is taking me at least 3 days per play room and i haven't been washing any toys yet, just walls and shelves and floors.

Hope to get stricter today. Good for you not having the unhealthy foods about. My family eats a bunch of unhealthy foods and i find little bits left here and there so it is very tempting. Especially some nut clusters... even though it is healthy foods it still has sweeteners.

I am off to start my day 24 over. No more sitting beside the road....

Good Job Sparkbirdy. I am not sure what day I am on I think around 22. I had a few harder days as my neck and shoulders were off pretty bad. So when the chiro sets me I have a lot more pain. But I have been eating pretty good, not balancing as well as I should.
My husband thinks I am so tired from not eating a good diet, he doesn't agree with this one. But I think it is from the bigger bunch of kids this summer, as well as being busy a bunch of weekends and the pain also seems to make me tired.
But the weekend is coming and I think we are home this one.
I will try to map out a few days of eating and see if I am in line with the dietary needs.
Have a great day.

Ya vacations are tough. Getting out of routine and not having all the foods handy you normally eat, or ways to fix them.

I was at daughter tournament at the lake for 3 days. I ate my rice that I had taken at weather temp, had rice cakes and miso and tahini, Grabbed a little fruit as I was tightening down way to much. But finally Sat night I had hamburger pattie. I also ate more cherries than I should have, but being outside for 3 days and nights it helped balance me.
Last night I was so tired after day care that I didn't take the time to fix a very good supper just grabbed some meat and corn. But back at the oatmeal and rice this am.

emoticon After you recoup from vacation you will get back on track.
Sounds like vac was great. emoticon

Day 15 and 16 a little shakey as i had some sick kids, and the one special need child was really challenging one day. But with a bite of there foods here and there most was macro.
Day 17 - day 19 I will be gone for the weekend for daughters tournament. I am packing packaged miso soup, my cock pot, oatmeal, rice cakes with miso and tahini to put on them, as well as some cooked rice and vegies. I plan a little bit of fruit for my treats as it is suppose to be in the 90s

day 13 and 14. I stayed on my plan, but I feel fatter. After this challenge, I will go on the calorie cycling again, because I seem to lose weight better on it. It is just nice to take a breather and just eat without thinking so much about it.

Day 14: ate my rice for breakfast then miso soup and rice with vegies on the side for supper. It is alittle harder. I had a lot of pain in my one ear, I tried reflexology and it let up for a little while then came back so I headed to the Dr. to make sure it wasn't infected. They said it was just liquid so had me take sudafed. I hate taking medicine but needed something to be able to lay down.

I am not sure if this is just another discharge as my teacher use to say. But hoping that is passes quickly.

Day 15: Today was rice with oatmeal, and a few cranberries. We found some at the good food store that didn't have sugar added.
Lunch rice tortilla, with miso and tahini on it.
off to P.T. tonight then supper. Rice stir fry.

Hope you all have a great day.
Kathy

Day 13:
I ate my oatmeal with rice and then was craving my latte, so I had a few cherries and that took my craving away. It is high 80s and 90s here, so i am finding I need a little bit of fruit so I don't get to tightened down.
Went to the good food store Husband helped me find some dried fruit with out sugar. so I now have a few cranberries, apricots, and plums that I can have to add to cereal. Also go some pumpkin seas, sunflower seeds, and almonds, and tahini (sesame butter) it is great mixed with a little miso and spread on rice cakes.

We will put corn on cob and fish on barbecue for supper.

Day 10, I am dragging. I think they say you hit a wall in a marathon... I think I found a wall.
But I ate whole grains, and rice mixture for breakfast. Then started to get really busy with day care. Had an extra big kid here that usually isn't here. So it was trying to keep her busy along with the other 5. Grabbed a little tofu on the run for lunch and plan on stir fry with rice and veggies for supper.
Hope to get to bed early tonight. Have only 4 kids tomorrow, so it will be an easier day.
SPARKBIRDY Sounds like you are doing good getting back on track when you get off. emoticon
That is what I am finding too. I am not perfect but by keeping track of eating here, I am doing a lot better on hard days than if I wasn't posting. I find I have to readjust a bunch.
We are doing it one step at a time!!!

The first day, I ate beyond what I should have, and I know I ate more than the limit on the tracker.
Day 9 was better and I ate less than my limit.

Day NINE:
What a day. I had our food program visit today, so I was trying to get the kitchen cleaned and food organized then the kids some exercise before.
SO breakfast was grabbing few little bites of the rice at room temp.
Then our pup got the kennel cough... so I had to run him to the vet after day care... didn't get to eat till after 7pm. I was starving. So I took my rice and scooped out the veggies ( Kale, and onions) out of soup in crockpot and put it on the rice.
It worked. Stayed in guidelines all day.
Good night.
Kathy.

I stayed within calorie range or a little below, and eating only when hungry. I do need to work on eating more slowly. I feel thinner and others have commented, but I am not weighing myself just yet.

Last night I had a treat of rice dream. It is allowed, once in a while. It was great, but didn't sleep as well last night. Need to be careful not to have to often.

This am started with rice with a handful of oatmeal mixed in.
Off to work outside. emoticon The DEER GOT IN MY GARDEN AND ATE THE TOPS OF BEAN PLANTS AND CORN How flusterating, if only they could choose the weeds and leave my food alone. That would be great.

Day seven.
Last night I started itching really bad all over my body. I think there must have been something in my food that I shouldn't have when we ate out. Even though I thought I was eating healthy, that is why they recommend you do the cooking in your own home. You never know what is in the foods that others prepare.

I started day with steamed rice with a handful of oatmeal, and Then I had miso soup with winter squash and diakon radish. To night will be a kale, onion, carrot and rice stir fry

Day SIX : started with warming up rice, and throwing in a handful of oatmeal. Then we went up to check huckleberries. Then out to lunch at huhot. It lets you pick what you want cooked on the grill. So I chose tofu, small amount white fish, lots of brown rice and veggies.

Today was a hard day for me as well. I have been so tired without getting a good nights sleep. I sorted a big drawer of Day care paper work.Took me several hours. Then ran some errands. So tonight I was starting and had some chicken and fruit.
I did eat my miso soup earlier, and 2 meals with rice, and veggies. Will eat some rice later when it cools down.

Day FIVE:
I didn't sleep to good last night. Was sore after the Chiropracter visit. Then just as I got off to sleep Son texted, that he may sign on for another tour over seas.
This am... I am noticing that I have a real sweet taste in my mouth from the corn last night. I used to love my sugar, but now a little natural sugars goes a long way.
Starting off with my tea, and then to miso soup.

Have a great day.

You all are inspiring me to be good. I get stressed out and drop my diet goals in the face of uncomfortable emotions and lack of time. I haven't even checked in with this team in days. However, I'm not giving up. I ordered a new macrobiotic book today called "The Everything Guide to Macrobiotics." And I hope it will help me refocus on eating more healthily (is this a word?). You are doing great in losing weight! I hope I can follow.

What day did you set up for weigh in day? I am amazed at how much I have dropped. It seems by eating strict that I am not as hungry and the cravings aren't as bad.

I went to chiro today. He is amazed at how my body is changing. Usually I get really ridgid and muscles spasm when he works on me. Today he said I was off, but the muscles were springing back where they needed to be. Now to see if I am holding in place as well.

I am making mung beans and rice for supper tonight. Had a busy day and didn't have time to grab lunch so grabbed a hand full of pumpkin seeds for lunch as I rushed out the door.

DAY 4
Yeaterday I had a few bites of a HM bread but again I need to cut the flours. I was up in the night with neck and shoulder pain. I'm thinkin g part of it was from my foot brace making my body off sides some. But will try to see Chiro. Some of it could be from the flour as well will try to cut it out again today.

I dropped another pound. I am between 130 and 131 this am. I am thinking some of the soarness is due to discharge.

Miso rice, millet, veggie soup for breakfast.
Ready to go for the fourth day.
How are you doing Sparkbirdy? It sounds like you have been working hard. emoticon (they need a better emoticon for gardeners and whole foods.)
Have a great day emoticon Kathy

DAY THREE:
This morning I got on the scale, and dropped another pound. I find when I eat strict I drop weight, but as soon as I eat regularly I gain even if I stay in cal range.

Started day with a bowl of rice and kucacha tea emoticon

Finished day one with a few almonds and stir fry with rice, and carrots. Family decided to grab their dinner out. But I know mine was better for me.

Day TWO
I noticed more popping in my ears, and more of a headache, will cut back on the almonds ( cut more fat) as well are rice chips ( to dry).
I started the day with oatmeal with huckleberries in it. Very good but have to see if oatmeal is going to work for me.
Lunch is brown rice with boc choy, green onions, and homemade beans. Also chewing well.
Drinks have been my kukicha tea.

I have been cleaning heavy all day as another bug has come through daycare. One family was out, so I washed all their kids bedding items. As well as bleached a bunch of stuff down. I must have used up many calories.

Rice for breakfast, and miso soup full of veggies, and rice for lunch. Needed snack, I tried the sweet veg drink and a few rice chips. The drink was good, and it does help with the craving sweets.
Chewing food at least 30 to 40 times per bite.

How are you doing SPARKBIRDY?

Good for you SPARKBIRDY, I like that idea of putting you fork down between bites. That may help me to chew more times as well. emoticon It is hard to chew 59 to 100 times when you are hungry. My stomach just keeps telling me to get the food there faster.

I ate no sugar no processed foods for the past two days. But I will start over with you, I want to eat a little stricter than what I had. So today will be day one.

I'm in! 26 days of following the McKenna rules. When I am hungry I will eat. When I am no longer hungry, I will stop. I will put my fork (or spoon) down between bites. I will eat whatever I want to. I will weigh myself on my monthly sparkversary, Aug 4, otherwise the scale is closed.

Ok today is the day I will start off on my marathon. Ready... set... GO! emoticon

I started my morning with heating my water and making me a thermos of Bancha tea. Next set up a pressure cooker full of short grain brown rice.
Breakfast a bowl of rice with tahini (sesame seed butter). Chewing many times each bite. emoticon

A marathon is 26 miles walk or run, and when you achieve it you get bragging rights. So who would love to run a marathon? emoticon
Well my marathon is a little different. My marathon is eating strictly... very strictly for the 26 days. You could have what ever you choose, a few examples are - No sugar for 26 day, miso soup every day, walk every day, or eating strict with me for 26 days straight. You might want to pick something that you want to build into a regular habit, but have been discouraged doing it alone. What ever works for you.
Any one want to run the marathon with me? Lets see what we can do.
Ready. Set. Go. emoticon
