When going to Bed, Bath, and Beyond (or any Kitchen store) is like going to a candy store or toy store (for adults)!

Every day we get a chance to start over. That's 365 chances every year. All we have to do is take them.

When you can actually define chiffonade, brunoise and julienne.

When you carefully establish your mise-en-place -- to make toast.

Starbright, your Disney comment reminded me of another "know you're a foodie" -- when you buy a $39 cookbook just for the one recipe in it that you loved in a restaurant. Then you tinker with the recipe and improve it.

THE main planning aspect of your Walt Disney World vacations is coordinating the times and locations of reservations for lunch and dinner every day so you can have veal shank in Hollywood Studios for lunch and duck breast for dinner at the California Grill and not have accidentally planned your activities for the day at Animal Kingdom.

You know you've RAISED foodies when you're out at a French restaurant, order the cheese plate appetizer, choose unusual cheeses, and for at least one your kid says, "I don't like it, but it has an interesting finish."

Then take a little more to further analyze the flavor they don't like.

When you are visiting your sister in NJ, watching the Today show. The Today show runs a spot on Salt and Chocolate store in the Village. You and your sister hop on the next train to NYC and are at the Salt Shop in less then an hour. It was amazing!

We did go to the Guggenheim to eat lunch and tour the building.

Oh who knows! I went land looked last night and Patrick had cleaned up our spice shelf and put all the salt in little glass tubes so I can't look at the packaging. The salt looks pretty in the tubes though. Over here when ever I see anything unusual at I end up buying it so that is how I ended up with the sulfery salt.

Your Korean bamboo roasted salt sounds neat! I also like the sounds of your lemon balm salt. I will have to mention that one to Patrick ...he put some smoked salt on a dessert item when I was sick but I bet it would benefit from a lemony flavor like lemon balm or lemon verbena.

I would have to look to be sure (I am just leaving work) but I have a grey salt from England, a rose salt from Italy, a fleur de sel from France, a yucky sulfery kind of reddish salt that I got in an ethnic market here that I did not realize was yucky when I bought it, a pink salt from Hawaii and our regular sea salt that we buy here at the grocery store. Oh! and a kosher salt...there may be others in there but I cannot think what they are!

Let's see how I did:

Haven't vacationed strictly for food, but have immediately investigated and made lists of where to eat when on vacation.

2am cookbook is a yes.

I don't take notes as such, but I've definitely cooked things based on what I've seen in movies.

At two years old, my niece would settle in at a restaurant, smile at the waitress and say, "calimari, please."

I haven't gotten to the point where people find me intimidating, but I have friends I find intimidating, and I strive to live up to them.

MY first answer to every problem is to bake bread.

The staff at Earth Fare (a smaller chain like Whole Foods) always asks where my husband or I am when either of us is there alone.

And I would add:

When you stumble across something in the market you've never eaten before, you immediately buy some knowing you'll figure out what to do with it later.

When there's "nothing to eat in the house," you still manage to put together a delicious meal--though probably nothing you could ever duplicate.

You regard recipes more as suggestions than instructions, freely improving as you go along.

Special thanks to my friends on Facebook who joined in, this was a hoot! This one’s for all my foodie friends, what a bunch of weirdos…

You know you’re a foodie when…

You plan vacations based on the local restaurant scene

You’ve stayed up till 2am reading…a cookbook

You take notes at the movies during “food scenes”

You carry around your own condiments…you know, just in case

You have a 60″ Plasma TV and pay for cable…but the only channel you watch is Food Network.

You’ve used the term “food porn” in front of your mom

It no longer seems strange to take pictures of what you eat

Friends apologize when inviting you to fast food restaurants

Dogs follow you because you smell like bacon

Your 4 y/o won’t eat boxed mac & cheese, but loves foie gras

You never get invited to dinner because your friends are scared to cook for you

You’ve rearranged food on someone else’s plate, to take a picture…

When the answer to any problem is to make dessert

You’re on a first-name basis with the butcher at your favorite store, but you can’t remember your babysitter’s name.

You’ve registered for your wedding AND baby shower at WHOLE FOODS.

You have fantasized about being locked in a kitchen with Alton Brown.
