If you haven't checked this out already, it lists the proper way or jump roping. I'm not too sure about what a good weight is to start, but this is a great exercise for cardio and I'm sure you can do it.

Have you checked the web? I'm not sure about weight issues, but I know skipping rope is not supposed to be bad on your knees if you do it right. emoticon

does anyone have any tips for starting jumping rope while you are overweight? I am 5'6 and weigh 264lbs. I am just starting to get into exercise and want to know if its safe to jump rope at this weight?
