Hi all..My name is Sarah and I am a procrastinator! I joined this team back when I first signed up on Sparkpeople. Which was back in 2007. The problem is I never joined a challenge. Today I am! For me though...I will be timing my jumps and listening to music. It is easier for me to focus on the music and enjoy it. It goes by quick when I do it this way. Anyways, I am shooting for 5 minutes 3 x a week to start.
I count the jumps just to keep me going so I know how many I am doing, helps me concentrate on the jumps better, weird I know. But I time myself because on the spark fitness log, you cant log the amount of jumps, only the time spent jumping. Corina, I dont think I have it as badly as u do but I used to count the lines on the road, the bricks on a wall etc., still find myself doing it occasionally.
I think it's hard to focus on form when you have to count. I count Jumping Jacks and always wish someone was counting for me. I just started jumping rope and am always stopping on the rope so I'm just concerned in getting better and practice a few minutes a day.Not bothering to count at this stage.
Hi guys! LilSweetie's on the money about getting the most bang for your buck by throwing in some pushups. Adding in some body weight squats or really going all out and throw in some burpees.
Regarding jumps vs time, I kinda do both in that I count sets of 20 until I trip the rope. Usually get in about 80 to 100 jumps before I take a 30 - 60 second break. My goal is to complete 200 jumps without stopping. After that I'll try adding the burpees between sets.
I am a counter of jumps - but this is probably due to my number disorder LOL All my life I have counted everything (stopped by a train, I'd count the cars... I literally count everything all the time LOL)

Hey I'm new to the team and must say how happy I am to see this. I thought I was a skipping maniac by myself!
I notice most of you seem to be counting jumps where as I use a timer and go by 1.5 minute intervals. Rest for 20 seconds then go again. I try to do that 15-20 times so 20-30 minutes.
I've recently started throwing into the mix some reverse or bicycle crunches and/or pushups instead of the 20 second rest which I noticed another member does. Really blasts up the heart rate for a great circuit style all around work out. Especially when short on time they are fantastic.
Anyway, so just curious do you count time or jumps?
You must first believe in yourself or no one else will
Exercise should be about rewarding your body with endorphins and strength, not about punishing your body for what you've eaten.
