Ok, I called Wal-Mart they do not have the Glad sealer but they do have a Reynolds Sealer. They cost $9.95 each. They are portable and run on batteries. If you want to see it go to this web site. I just checked it out. http://www.alcoa.com/reynoldskitchens/en/h
ome.asp. You can also go to this one to see it work. Handi-Vac.com

I've GOT to try this. Had thought about getting 1 awhile ago when I was taking cre of my mother, but never did. It makes good sense & is probably space saving also. Is that correct?

Just saw an ad on TV last night and it looks like Glad has a "portable" sealer -- hook it up to their special sealed bags and it sucks the air out of it. No clue as to whether or not it's cost effective...

Mine is a Food Saver. I love it. We freeze almost everything now by using the machine. I buy the rolls from Sams Club...they last longer. I make individual meals for me & freeze them using those bags all the time.

I have a sealer and when I am disciplined enough I use it. I do know that it takes a little precision to get the air out and sealed correctly. Don't give up It really does keep things better in the freezer.

I have a vacuum sealer, and I love it! It does help stuff stay good better in the freezer, and like someone below, I love to put a marinade or spice rub on chicken breast. It self marinates when you take it out to thaw.

I have had issues once in awhile getting it to seal, but it's usually because I cut the bag too short and don't leave enough space. I think I got mine at Tuesday Morning (it's an upper class Big Lots) and don't remember what I paid. Rolls of the sealing bags/sheets are pretty cheap at Target and Walmart. My machine is a 'Foodsaver Vac 750'.

The fish that BF caught this year..he just freezes them in water in gallon ziplocs.

We have one and it works great. My husband does alot of fishing so he filets the fish in portions for us and seals it in those. No fish smell at all in the freezer. I also bought meats in bulk and broke it down and again froze it in these bags. It does take time to get used to and hubby has it down pat so....he can do it hahaha

Sounds like there have been good and bad experiences! I've been wanting one, but told myself it would be "just another kitchen gadget" that I don't throw out because I feel guilty for not using it and think one day I will..
Those who love yours, let us know the brand, please, and if there are any "tricks of the trade" that aren't in the instructions...
Thanks!

My sister-in-law loves hers. Uses it all the time as she buys in bulk.

Linda - what brand did you buy?

I have a sealing machine and just love it. I purchased it at Sam's club. I buy in bulk and seal the food in portions for my husband and I. It's been a life saver for us. I've even put marinate in the bag with the meat when I package them.

I got one a couple of months ago. I'm not terribly impressed. Sometimes it sucks the air out and sometimes it doesn't. I don't know if I am doing something wrong or what. I like the concept. I didn't buy the most expensive one so maybe that would help. Guess I am not really being much help here, but that has been my experience

Has anyone tried the Seal A Meal Machines?

I had one and within 2 weeks they were like storage bags all air and ice. I want to get another one but I don't want to waste my money.
