So fun watching my DD shop for her joining the Mediterannean Diet ...I have never seen her buy so many fruits and veggies. Good talk time with her about gluten free variations... Life is good and I am so thankful.

So I am one who needs accountability...
Three Fruits Daily =1/2 in middle of night with med; 1/2 for dinner and apple for snack
Three veggies daily=potato, sweet pepper ,onion, yellow squash, Zucchini, avocado, tomato
Three fish weekly = set albacore tuna out for tomorrow, plan salmon for Saturday lunch
3 legume weekly =4 bean salad, black beans, fresh green beans
Olive oil daily= easily do this...
White chicken =lunch
Walnut/almond = chopped walnuts in fruit smoothie this evening with apple and yogurt
Wine with meal is not option [dry alcoholic] so will have 5oz red or purple grape juice daily= am snack

I think this is do-able!!! I am excited ...will be interesting to keep it going while on vacation!

Leesa, thanks for the encouragement ...Actually our potatoes are usually baked or I boil them cubed in 1/2 inch cubes, in minimal water with fresh ground pepper and lots of dried parsley. Then I save the extras in individual dishes for later meals and ways such as like hashbrowns for DH breakfast, into a potato salad, or add frozen petite peas and a few bites of cubed cheese. So I guess I can continue to count them as long as not adding "fixens" to them. Leaving off the butter is getting easier as every pound comes off the scales!

Hi Linda,

Potatoes certainly count as a vegetable, but they can be rather calorie-dense depending on how they're prepared. A baked potato topped with salsa (only) would be a very healthful food choice, but a big plate of scalloped potatoes, not so much.

Three veggies daily=Watermelonx2, fresh corn, carrots, potatoe [am I right that they don't count?
Three fish weekly=tuna yesterday
3 legume weekly=4bean salad
Olive oil daily=yes, made this switch earlier this year and it is only oil I use.
White chicken = chicken breast x2
Fish- not yet
Walnut/almond=almond butter and almond milk
Doing well with the needs, now to eliminate the no-nos!!!
