Annie, DD is on bed rest, her husband is VERY attentive. The Dr. said force liquids, he brings her all her favorite drinks plus water, checks them to make sure she is drinking them and refills them as needed, he changes the baby, cleans the house and fixes the meals. Her husband is the stay at home care giver and with it being summer the 14 year old is home to help with taking care of the 2 year old.

However things may seem, no evil thing is success and no good thing is failure.
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

Good Morning. They are saying we have a cold front today. The high is only going to 98, but the ozone will be higher.

Tuesday DD took Alex to the Dr, for a check up. Alex only weighed 7 pounds 2 oz, down from 8 pounds 11. The Dr. took one look at DD and told her she shouldn't be up. Her body was trying so hard to cure from an epadural (sp) leek that she couldn't produce milk for the baby. she needed to go straight home, lay flat on her back, call her Dr., and nurse the baby for 30 min and if he still wanted to nurse to give him a bottle.

DD called the Dr before even getting in the car. The Dr told her to go to ER. The head of anatheseolgy (sp) met her. He worked so hard and fast on her he wouldn't even let the nurses help. DD was so dehydrated it took 3 veins to get blood and 3 more to put an IV in. DD works at the hospital and says that once the babies Dr. said that there was an epadural leek and it was endangering the babies life, he was looking at a malpractice suit.

I went over there yesterday to take her smaller diapers. DD was still on bed rest, so Alex slept on the bed with her, Her husband was forcing fluids and helping with Alex, and the 14 year old was taking care of the 2 year.

The good news. The first time DD nursed Alex after leaving the hospital, Alex nursed for 30 min and 1 oz from the bottle. The next time he nursed he nursed for 25 min and fell asleep and slept 2 hours the longest he had ever slept. Now he is eating for 25 min and sleeping for 2 hours regularly.

Courti, my thyroid is under-active, which has made it more difficult to lose weight. I've lost some, but am hoping it will be a little easier now.

Annie, it's totally understandable that you forgot about Question of the day. I hope you're doing OK after your loss. I do know that it won't be easy.

MaryAlice, I certainly agree about the heat. I would like to start walking again but it's just too hot, especially with all the hills around here. No flat streets. I used to walk at the mall in Crestwood, but they are getting ready to tear it down & rebuild so it's empty. I just don't feel comfortable there right now.

Good morning. Mutt says he hates this 100= temps. DH and I aren't any happier about them. For motivation, DH has CP and the DR said he would never ride a bike, start going down hill at 35, in a wheelchair at 45 and dead at 55. He was 70 in May and is complaining he can't ride more then 19 miles a day and this heat is making him nuts.

Hi Everyone,

I sure missed all of you last week. We had a very good VBS - lots of kids. I enjoyed it, but sure was glad to see Friday get here.

In addition to working with crafts all week, I worked 4 days & went to the doctors lab for more tests. He didn't like how a couple of them came out the first time & wanted to have them re-done. His office called me yesterday morning to tell me that they had the results - under active thyroid & they had already called the pharmacy with a prescription. Does it sound too bad to say I'm really glad they found something wrong? It's not that I want something to be wrong with me, I just wanted something that they could fix. I've been assured that I will feel a lot better in a week or two. I'm ready for it. Ready to stop being so tired - ready for my bones to stop hurting - ready to just stop feeling sick all the time. I know that some of you know exactly what I mean.

Thanks to Annie for doing the 'question of the day.' Sorry that you worked your brain so much, but it was good for you & for the team.

Good morning. Yesterday I went to see DD and the boys. Tony would slip over and pat Alex on the bottom, in his mother did, then he would run to Christian. Not sure run to big brother, if he is 12 years older and will pick you u even better. I had planned on taking Tony to the park to play. That was a bust. The temp was 104.

DD had a the worse headache I have seen. He Dr says the anathesalogest (sp) messed up. That Dr says he didn't do anything wrong and she pinched a nerve while pushing. Her husband wants her to put the baby on the bottle and let the Dr knock her out. DD says no.

Alex wanted nothing to do with his crib. DD's husband couldn't understand the baby didn't want to be held in his arms, he wanted to be held against his chest. So I spent the day holding the baby so DD could sleep. About 2 DD's husband finally got it.

Good Morning. At 21 inches and weighing in at 8 pounds 11 oz, Alejandro (Alex) joined our family at 8:20 last night. There was a big debate over what color Alex would be. All 3 boys have a Mexican father. 1 is my white with green eyes and light brown hair, 1 looks like he has a good tan with very dark brown hair and black eyes. Well Alex was born green, turned an almost sickly white, then bright red. DD sent me a picture this morning and he now looks like a baby. Both mother and baby are fine.

Good morning. I was going to go to work at 10:30, get off at 2:30, go down to DD's and check on the boys, the 14 year old would have had the 2 year old sine 6, go to the hospital to welcome Aejandro into the world, and get dinner for the boys. Well DD called and said that the hospital was full and that since they weren't inducing because of a life or death reason, they are putting it off. DD said she should know more by 8. Who knows what I'm doing today. Aejandro isn't due for a week, but the DR says he is over 8 pounds and babies can gain up to a pound the last week so feels it would be better for both baby and mom to bring him into the world a week early.

Good morning. 1 load of wash on the line and walk done. Yesterday we had a met and greet with the minister candidate after church. I had the 23 month old with me. I had him at the table with 2 different cakes, watermelon slices and a fruit bowl. I asked Tony what he wanted, and 2 little hands grabbed blackberries. Ok little hands in the fruit bowl isn't a good idea, but the little boy wanted berries not cake. I gave him blackberries and watermelon. A woman at out table felt sorry for him and gave him a mouthful of cake, which he ate and asked for cantaloupe.

I will be offline for about the next week. In addition to my regular schedule, I volunteered to work crafts for Vacation Bible School all week & will have some cutting out, etc. to do in my spare time. I also have some lab tests to be taken this coming week.

Just didn't want you to think there was anything wrong or to wonder. See you in about a weekk.

I've got to admit that I was shocked when he told us that people were stealing the tombstones, taking them south, scraping the names off them & reselling them. Something like that wouldn't even occur to me.....ever. Don't know why I'm still surprised at the things people stoop to.

Went to the doctor today for my annual checkup & labs. I have very good veins & don't usually bruise from them taking blood. But I sure did this time. I asked about my stomach pain & after asking questions & pushing around a little, he made an appointment for me to get an ultrasound of my gall bladder in the morning. I also got my first pneumonia shot today.

To begin each day as if it were opening for the first time into the freshness and vibrancy of expectant living is to enter into the joy of the morning as a spiritual experience. We cannot sever ourselves from yesterday, but we need not add to yesterday’s burden

Good morning, Yesterday went good at work. I'm still coughing, but not the fits I had been having. Thanks for the well wishes. Now I have to get back to eating and exercising. The last week I have been eating what southed my throat and exercise, well forget it.

Sandy, I guess I'm too honest. People are stealing things I never would have thought about the $$ value of.

The caretaker at the cemetery said that he got involved when a developer tried to obtain the land to build homes and/or businesses on. They were going to dig up all the graves & place them in one mass grave. They had also had problems with people coming in& stealing the grave markers & taking them down south, scraping them off & reselling them.

They managed to find old record books & maps & had them microfilmed for the genealogical society & the county library. I had decided to offer to do that for them, but no need now. They got it named as an historical site so they don't have to worry about developers now.

Kind hearts are the gardens
Kind thoughts are the roots
Kind words are the flowers
Kind deeds are the fruits

Take care of the gardens
And keep them from weeds
Fill fill them with flowers
Kind words and kind deeds.

Good Morning, Yesterday DH went to the store. He knows I can't take many meds, so he got me all different kinds natural meds. One of the teas helps a lot. Yesterday I felt like I could go to work, but since the 2 days before I had hit a wall about 6 hours in, so I called. Today I woke up feeling better and it is a short day.

Annie, we are cooling off later next we. the temp will only get to the low 90's

Just from the genealogists point of view.....cemeteries hold so much history. How wonderful you were able to help to restore a bit of that and help out the caretaker!

The hot heat arrived in MN and yesterday I headed into the BR for a bit of relaxing...turned on the ceiling fan and stripped to my undies. Had a stack of clothes I was sorting, what to keep, what to donate and what to toss. Then laid down and didn't wake until I heard fireworks! Pushed the drapes aside and watched them from my bed, then rolled over and went back to sleep. Sometimes it just feels SO good to rest your body!!

A couple more over 90 temps and then hopefully it will start to cool off again, next week. Granted I like warmer temps...but 90's are a bit too much! Especially with NO AC.

The caretaker of the cemetery gave us a brief history lesson this morning. The cemetery was originally started "because black people were not allowed to be buried in white cemeteries." It is full & no graves are more recent than the early 1970s. Actually it was very interesting. There are 13 acres & he's been trying to do all the mowing himself. I was very tired & left early, but since we have 5 riding mowers, 4 push mowers & several trimmers, I'm sure we put a good dent in the parts he hadn't been able to get to. He's been doing it since 1988.

This has been a lost day. I've had no energy at all. Spent the day reading. I've heard so much about "Hunger Games" that I ordered it from the library & picked it up yesterday. It's not what I usually read, but have to admit that it is interesting.....and rather scary. I am getting ready to take a shower & then to bed early

Smile, because the fact that you're able to is almost impossible to comprehend.
Jeffrey Rowland,

I'm afraid the cemetery I would like to see cleaned up was destroyed by Ike. But then most of the island was destroyed. The city has asked, and rightly so, that we concentrate on the things for the people alive now.

Wow ~ you days have been packed with stress. Thankfully your family problems were resolved easier than your court problems.

Your restoration of the cemetery does sound very interesting. I bet you will make some wonderful steps in transforming it into a more manageable cemetery. I'm certain the caretaker will appreciate all your efforts! Great to hear that the pastor has stepped up to the challenge and has found lawn mowers and the crew to run them!

Jeremy got in touch with the Cape Sheriffs Dept & they said they had an early morning death that they were investigating, but couldn't confirm or deny an ID by phone because it had to be to a relative. It is a long way from where he lives, but Jeremy &Stephanie were on their way there to find out if it was Rodney. About 10 minutes from their destination, Rodney called him. He is fine & had no idea about the post on his FB page. Thank you everyone for your prayers. Maybe I can stop being sick now & relax.

His daughter's grandfather died this morning & they think someone heard it & thought it was her father.

on my oldest grandson's FB page. We can't locate Rodney & don't know what's going on. The hospitals & police department don't know anything about him. None of his friends that we've managed to locate know anything about it. I sent a message to the person who posted it asking him to contact my other grandson, but there's been no contact so far. Please say a prayer that we can find out something, hopefully that he's OK.

Yesterday was a really long day. Court was scheduled for 3:00 but we didn't get in until after 5:00. That 2 hours of just sitting in the hallway waiting felt like 6 hours. The Childrens' Division worker & the dad are not really very happy. They made recommendations that the Deputy Juvenile Office, Guardian at litem & I did not agree with - they lost. They were out in the parking lot trying to figure out how they can get around the ruling. I'll be watching out for their efforts in that directions.

I was really tired last night. I suppose it was from the stress of the day. In addition to going to court, I had to leave work early & wasn't able to finish my financial reports for the business meeting on Sunday. I was supposed to be off today, but went in for a couple of hours & finished it. That worked out well because the Friday volunteer was there & agreed to work on a project that is simple, just pretty time consuming & has no immediate deadline.

I'm still tired today so I will go to bed earlier than usual. Tomorrow we're working at the oldest African-American cemetery west of the Mississippi. It has been neglected for a number of years & a group recently formed to try to get it in shape. We just happened to see it & decided that it was something in the community that we could help with. I contacted the man in charge of it & he is thrilled to have help. He has been trying to do all the mowing & cleanup by himself. I have to say that the pastor really surprised me. He managed to line up 4-5 riding mowers & 3-4 push mowers to work tomorrow. The youth group will also be helping as one of their community projects. We should get quite a bit accomplished.

Good Morning, Tuesday I felt like I was coming down with a cold. I started to call in, but need for money got to me so I went in. Wal-Mart has a policy about cashier having anything in their mouth. I asked about cough drops. I was told to get on a register and not to worry about it. I started at 3:30 about 10 I was really feeling it. I asked for a break. The manager told me to turn my light off and go when I finished my line. I must have looked bad. My customer n nodded toward me, the manager turned and looked at me and said "I'll finish your line, get out of here NOW."

Yesterday I was off. I took it easy. I told DH I wanted to go to the noodle house for dinner. I thought the green tea and soup would help. I drank tea and the liquid out of the soup. I brought the food stuff out of the soup home thinking after having a liquid dinner I would be starved in an hour, nope my take home is still in the fridge. I'm taking it easy today. I have another long night. I get off at midnight.

You don't just luck into things...You build step by step, whether it's friendships or opportunities.

Good morning, Beka's mom is a recovering alcoholic and bipoler, so stress can get ugly fast. I had told her that when she felt like she needed a break she was to consider me her mother and ask for help. She had trouble understanding it was ok to ask for help, but yesterday she called. There is a lot going on in her life right now and she said she felt pulled in too many directions, so I asked if leaving an 11 year old with me would help. She was so happy I would take Beka. I called Beka's father (my DS) and Beka will stay with me for a few days then go to her fathers for 2 weeks. Beka's mother was happy to have almost 3 weeks to concentrate on herself. Beka had asked if she had a place at our house when her mom had problems. Now she knows she can come here and stay and her daddy will step in. It has relieved the stress off her. She also understands that this helps her mom. Yes Beka's mom has had problems in the past and had felt she wouldn't admit she couldn't care for her child.

Good morning. I'm off today. I really wish they gave 2 days in a row off. I spend 1 day recovering from work and never really get to do anything around the house. I'm so glad DH does a lot of what needs to be done. I'm going to try to get up and get dressed. Mutt wants a walk and I think a walk might loosen things up.
