Here is an idea of what I did. I have no experience in Geneology. It took me 6 weeks and I was able t o trace my mothers family both sides back to 1595 France. You just have to hit the right person. I have a page I call my work sheet with family names going back. So I picked a name and put it on the search. Ithink 6 weeks is pretty good. Then y;ou check your info to their info and you will eventually find a connection. I was lucky and found someone who was my mothers 8th cousin. He sent all 100 pages and I printed them. Lucky to find someone who was so helpful and who has been doing geneology for 35 years. Doris Canada

Try sending a letter in snail mail, and include a litttle information that shows the connection of the families. I have done that with some luck in the past. You can ask that the letter be given to someone in the family who might share your interest in family history.

I'm having a frustating time getting a response from a relative who posted their genealogy on Ancestry. We have had no contact with this family until I found their tree. We didn't know they existed. Their relative was my grandfather's sister. Both of them immigrated to USA from Sweden in the late 1800's. I sent her an email - no response. I was able to find her phone # on the white pages and called her. She said she would have her mother contact me. Nothing. I called again & still nothing. All of this was done in a friendly manner. I just can't figure out why you would post your genealogy & not be thrilled to be contacted by an unknown relative. emoticon Actually, I was looking for an emoticon with steam coming out of its ears, but there isn't one. Got that off my chest, so I'll quit fuming.

Rita - I know how much Holidays can reak havoc on our diets. I know I quickly forgot what Honey baked Ham does to me - that sodium increased my diseased legs up 4 inches!! It's the price we pay for bad eating habits.

I have managed to lose most of the water retention and the pounds are slowly slipping off to where I was back in November.

Bootcamp has truly gotten me "up & moving" which helped me shed another 5# since New Years! Toot toot

Thanks! I just passed it along to her!

I basically stayed the same throughout the holidays, but I'm ready to get this weight off now & to take care of a bunch of other issues (projects, money), too.

A quick update -- I sent an email to my friend last night to ask how she made out, & this was her reply:

"Actually I found on one of those websites a similar plane photo and found out it was a B24 Liberator aircraft...probably modified for the war efforts...I got a hold of the Wisconsin Historical Society and sent the picture on to them (the navigator was from Watertown Wisconsin) and they were thrilled to get the photo and said they would take any more of the same man I could find as well. So yes, so far so good. Thanks for the help."

She can contact a local VFW to get information and they can put her in touch with others who can help guide her. She can also contact the National Archives and see if they can help with that. I'm glad she's trying to find a way to preserve these. So many people just throw them away :(

Good luck
Carol :)

A friend of mine sent me an email with a question, & I have no idea of how to help her, but I thought someone here might be able to. This is what she wrote:

"Over the past few years cleaning out my dads stuff, then moms stuff, I've collected quite a few awesome pictures that they had taken from WW2. How can I try and locate next of kins, or get them posted on military websites for family members to find? Or what other suggestions might you have? I went to ASAF and a couple others (including 'find veterans' websites that charge a fee to use which I'm not doing) One pic in particular shows a B25 or B24 with all the crew in front of and named on the back."
