Good Morning emoticon

My floor in the laundry is fixed. The piping will be fixed today! emoticon Then my family can start doing laundry again. emoticon

Randy, the kids and I all cleaned the living room, kitchen and kid's bedroom. The house is feeling better. emoticon

Jamie is still sleeping on the couch. I am still waking up in the middle of the night. I got back on meds to help me cope. So far 11 days and still not working. emoticon I need sleep every night its the same thing. I fall asleep and wake in the middle of the night. By the time I fall back to sleep it's time to wake up.

My good news is that I turned in all the paperwork and the gym. By the end of the week, my family can have access to the gym. emoticon I am hoping that will end some of the stress at the house.

In the meantime... I am almost finished with my book. I am hoping to know the ending today. I take that back... I just finished my book on break. emoticon Now as a reward, I am going to rent the movie "Eat Pray Love". emoticon

Now, I have to figure what is going to be my next book. emoticon

Good Morning Everyone,
I just wanted to drop by and wish everyone a happy weekend emoticon

I am recovering from a pretty rough week, my husband went for a bone scan on Monday to see if he had bone cancer and we had to wait until Thursday to get the results. I've been writing blogs all week but that's about all on the site. The bone scan was negative but hubby is still in a lot of pain and the cause is unknown. Hopefully I can start getting back to a new normal soon.

My name is Carolyn
(Whitney is my last name, I'm a retired high school biology teacher = WHITNEYTEACHER)

I moved to Grants Pass, a small town in Southern Oregon in January, 2014.

Lynn... I'm so glad that your pain is less.

I've had such a busy two weeks. Last weekend was a garage sale, then lots of classes to teach then this weekend was a retirement party for a colleague and SparkFriend. I spent two months working on a photo book that I finally published on Friday. I also gave her copies in another book so she could see it now rather than wait til May when she gets back to the States.
Now that those two big projects are done.... I must concentrate on my teaching, classes, etc.

I have been doing too much sitting so need to work at increasing my walking.

Carolyn, I hope you get some much needed rest very soon.

I am day 3 of no pain, I have been limited to computer time of 2 times a day for 20 minutes, if I can't get it done in 20 minutes it's not going to get done.
That way I am not going to pressure and trigger the shoulder pain again.

Enjoying the piece and quiet around here, probably shouldn't have said that, don't want to jinx it.

I am so very tired. I have been very busy at work and still have lots of busy stuff to do for at least the next 4 days. Then I think I'll have a bit of a break on Tuesday.

I just posted some photos of my garage sale of last weekend. Here they are:

My interview went very well. They said they would call either last night or today. I didn't get a call last night. I may get a call tonight. emoticon

Dilemma emoticon

At work, I was told by an supervisor that I should apply within the corporation. The best part, the position is in a location closer to my house. That means, I wouldn't have to deal with the people I currently work with. emoticon

Now, I am not sure what to do? emoticon

Good morning, turtles!

Yesterday was raining, so the kids and I did our walk/run at the local indoor track. It's was a fun change and the kids lapped me easily while doing it. I think they worked harder in that atmosphere. My eating went well yesterday. I'm still not back to the fitness minutes I was doing before my four day hiatus. But I am moving. I need to average about 45 fitness min. per day to meet my goal for the end of the month. I hope that's enough motivation to get me to add some time today.

Amy, I pray you find the perfect job for you. Way to go on adding your household to your gym membership. It sounds like that will be a nice treat for everyone.

Have a great day everyone!

I have an interview today!!!! It pays .50 less then what I am making now. If things go well, I won't be a temp and I believe I get benefits too. It is better hours as well! I will know more after work!!! emoticon

I also called my gym today to see if I can put the rest of my members of my household on membership.... emoticon

It is a YES!!! emoticon That makes me super duper excited about this.

I have been very worried about my best friend. I feel that if she had some where to go outside of the house she would feel better. She doesn't want me to give her money for her to do things. emoticon She keeps says she doesn't want to take from me.

This helps so much because I won't have to give her money. She won't know how much I will pay for her to be on my membership. emoticon I don't expect it to be too much because I am on a financial scholarship.

The best part is that they offer our kids things to do. emoticon So when the kids are out of school she has things that they can do. She isn't stuck in the house with four kids.

I am feeling so blessed today! I am thanking God for the blessing has given me. emoticon

Beth, welcome home!!! and you're right SP does give us boundaries and they are good ones in retraining our lives.
and thank you... I have been doing a bit of dancing, gentle, none spine jarring sort of dancing. I will slowly lean into my confidence and I will build my body strength back up and my endurance and begin to see definition of my muscles again. And work on my core strength again.
I can breath, I can relax, but more than anything I can move!!!! it's a great day!

My pantry floor is broken... so tonight I will be moving the washer and dryer to see what the damage is. On Sunday, after church, we will be fixing the floor. I am hoping for an easy fix. We might have to redo the entire floor.

Today, Randy went to the dmv. He officially has a South Carolina license. Yeah!!! Now I can put him on my gym membership. I can't wait.

The chore chart is working too. Its a trial and error thing. Today is day four. The kids have never had to do chores before. They never really earn the right to have a treat. I think they are doing well. We offer them to earn 20 minutes a day for the privilege to watch wrestling on Friday night. They have earned about half the minutes as of last night.

I am trying to do better this week with my eating. So far not so good. Lunch is just a big problem for me. I just want to keep eating and once I start there is no "off" button. Today I will try to do my best and stick with my meal plan.

I have been getting in good exercise. the past two days I went to Walmart to walk and got in 60 minutes of continuous walking each day. I did find that last night my restless leg syndrome kicked in. I think it was all the walking I did. today I will aim for 30 minutes. If I can do more okay, but I don't want to push too hard. I hate it when my legs just keep moving. it is very uncomfortable. I did take a "pill" for it and by the time I went to bed the pill had done its job and I was able to sleep.

What a path you've been on. I'm so glad you're finally finding progress.

Well everyone, I'm so sorry to be absent so long! Crazy, busy weekend and succumbed to a bit of the blues. I kept my eating going well for the most part, but didn't work out any. Today I changed that trend and got my DVD workout in first thing this morning. I hope to do some ST and then our walk/run with the kids.

It feels so good to get back on here and feel "safe" again. Going so many days nonstop with no SP to give me boundaries was a bit scary. I'm glad I'm home. :)

I was journaling and was planning my day and finishing up my workout a little while ago (yes I know, it's really really early) ... but I realized something.
I was amazed, astonished and afraid to say or type this out loud. BUT I was realizing that there was no pain in my back, arm or neck. NONE!!! and I just did my physical therapy exercises. And I went to write something down and started to reach for something, that for the last 2 months would have caused me to start crying with pain, just the reaching act, but I reached and there was NO PAIN!!!! the crazy week and steroid craziness was worth it, I am without pain.
YEAH!!!!

(now if I can just sleep LOL).

So, last week was not a good week for me. I did not do well adhering to my meal plans and exercise was lacking. After reviewing my lack of discipline I wrote out my two goals for today and vowed to make this week a better one. My goals for today were 1. stick with meal plan and 2. exercise. I got up an hour early (DH's bright idea!!) and started my day with a good breakfast. Once I finished doing dishes I got ready and took myself to Walmart for my exercise. I walked laps around the store for an hour and got in 10 laps. So my exercise goal has been met. So far so good on sticking with my meal plan. Breakfast and my first snack went well. Lunch is the tricky time for me. I will make it a better week!!!!!

A friend and I had a garage sale on Friday and Saturday. How exhausting it was. But it was a success and it is over. At least it provided me with some exercise... like carrying boxes for example. I got quite a few steps on my pedometer too.

Catlady, we had the same sort of storm, but it sort of ran the entire length of the eastern side of the country... it's cooler today and clearer, the pollen plums in the air seem to have been washed away for the time being.
The initial storm, the one that produced all sorts of warnings and had me checking the weather ever few minutes only last 3 minutes here... it got dark, but then all of a sudden, the trees went crazy with the wind and it rained for 3 minutes.

looks like it rained some more during the night though...

it's a good day here, it's quiet. I'm rested, having slept, and I'm hungry... for some serious moving today. Going to head downtown with a few friends tonight and see my brother-in-laws band preform... so dancing (with sanity) is going to be part of the order of the day.

Thanks for watching the video. I am pleased with the message it puts out there.

I have been "roughing" it for the past 18 hours. We lost power last night around 6 p.m. due to a storm. the wind, I guess, took down two 40' poles. The power only came back on at 12:20 p.m. today. We just spent the time in bed. It was too dark to do anything else. And it was COLD!!!! A cold front came in after the storm and I was freezing. This morning we hooked the coffee pot up to the generator and at least had some hot coffee and cold cereal for breakfast. It will be good to get back to making normal food. I am not a frontier girl!!! LOL!!!

Exercise has been hit or miss. Need to get to Walmart and walk the store. I'm not feeling the treadmill today!! I know I need to get in at least 10 minutes of something.

For now I'll finish my hot tea!!! emoticon

Hope everyone has a good day!!! Keep pushing yourself!!! If I can do it, anyone can!!!!

Good Morning Team,
Sorry I've been missing! Once I went back to work after spring break I immediately became swamped with work. I have some cleaning to do today. Yes, the video is great and very motivating. And I particularly liked the emphasis on lifestyle changes which brought weight loss as a bonus, rather than it being the focus of everything.

Catlady -- great video!!! I love your coach's advice, to just walk 5 minutes to start, just look at losing 5 lbs., etc. Sounds like a wonderful program. So glad it's working for you!

A healthy lifestyle is paying off. I went to the doc Monday for my 3 month follow-up and had blood work done. i got the results the other day and all was well. My diabetes test was normal!!! That means I am controlling my blood sugars well. My kidney function tests have improved. All labs for kidney functionw are now normal.

Exciting news!!! Back in November I made a video for my insurance company, Humana. they asked me to make the video for their coaching program. I have a presonal coach through their program and she has been beneficial to my weight loss. They sent a professional crew to my home and spent four hours taping me. Well, the video is finally out on YouTube. You can check out the video at this link:

Please check it out and let me know what you think.

I slept. For a long time yesterday. I want to thank all who prayed and sent me comments of support and care. It was so comforting and I felt the great support.
Thank you so very much.

Today my heart is with you Bostonians, Western Texas citizens and all those effected by the horror that is happening.

The news will be off for the rest of the day for me. I have asked a friend to update me if needed. It's all a bit overwhelming for me right now... I know it is very difficult for those living through it right now. I know it is hard and confusing and difficult.
Peace be with you all.

I am having a very busy week teaching at the hospital and also getting ready for a garage sale which will be tomorrow and Saturday. I just wrote a short blog about my week. It is found here:

I get over 5000 steps in almost every day now. My leg is getting stronger and I am surer on my feet. I still do quite a bit of sitting though.

Thursday... I found a new dryer that I can afford today!!! I am so grateful. I also just finished a wonderful lunch with my best friend. We talked and laughed. I felt normal... such a long time since I have felt that way.

One step at a time.

I am still putting applications in. I have an interview today after work.

I am just praying that God leads me in the right direction.

Good morning, Beth...I'll be walking in this race. I wish I could run, but that's no longer an option for me. I'm 71 (which should not be a barrier) and I have a knee replacement (which is the barrier - no high impact allowed, so says the doctor). I anticipate being out for a good eight hours, possibly longer. There are strong young people who can actually RUN 16.5 miles over mountains in two hours and eighteen minutes. That amazes me.

I'm not a jock. I'm a recovering couch potato, and even last summer I could not have done this yet. I had to build up the endurance. If an aging couch potato can make a change, so can other people. You'll get to running. You can do it!

Wow, Laurance!! Keep us posted. I can't wait to hear about the experience. I'm just entering the world of running. I'm maybe a millimeter into the process. LOL My two youngest kids and I are doing a walk-to-run program. We're on week 2 which is 3 min. fast walk 1 min. run, repeat 5 times. And boy am I working just to do THAT.

Amy, I pray you have strength to persevere and believe in yourself. Keep pushing for a better place and meanwhile, choose to find the best in the spot where you're planted.

Today is another busy day for me. I woke up very groggy. Had to take a couple supplements and a sleeping pill to finally get to sleep last night. I hope I can get my workout in before going to the office. I'm helping out my husband today and he'll be gone for the weekend. I want to get this blood pumping so I'm not feeling like this all day!!

Today is measurement day. I'm eager to see if I've lost any more inches. At least I'm not feeling so bloated this morning. I did not look forward to measuring with my stomach distended. Blech.

Have a great day everyone!

Lynn and Mrs. Beth...this is a 25K race. Three years ago I did a little 5K walk, and last summer I did a 4 mile walk. This is 16.5 miles. I give thanks to my Curves coach who is getting me to do the totally impossible.

PRINCESSAMY - I'm sorry it looks like you didn't get the job you wanted. I've had my share of awful jobs and it's really hard to try and find something else while trying to deal with the stress. Try calling the place where you applied. I've been on hiring committees before and sometimes a follow-up phone call indicating real interest in the job will help them decide between two different people if the decision is close. I hope it works out for you soon. emoticon

That is AWESOME, Laurance!!! I'm rooting for you! Is it truly a 25K? or a 5K? Well, I couldn't finish either one, so I'm inspired. :) Let us know how you do!

Lynn, it sounds like you have the determination you need and a great plan. I'm so glad your physical therapist has a direction to go. I pray you start seeing results and that your hard work pays off.

I didn't get any workout in yesterday. Not what I expected, but the day just filled itself up and before I knew it was over. It didn't help that I was kind of dragging and I had an evening meeting. Thankfully I have two recovery days in a week that I can trade around if I need to. This morning I woke early enough to get my DVD workout in. I feel really good about that, relieved it have it done!

Lynn, so pleased that you have a diagnosis and a specialist who seems to have the skills and personality to gain your confidence. Not knowing what you are dealing with is incredibly draining and, I believe, hinders healing. Hope you get more answers as a result of Monday's tests.
We woke this morning to the news of the bombing in Boston. There are terrible things in our world.

LOL (Love the cheer leaders) Thank you Beth.
Yes, I have a focus on healing right now... my weight is relatively stable right now, so I don't plan on weighing myself until this is all better and I am off the steroids.
AND my physical therapist who was running out of ideas now has a direct focus on what to treat, which is not what he has been treating, it's been helpful and he followed his gut on a lot of the therapies he has been using lately that are now actually part of the more aggressive therapy that will begin on monday ... so it's a week of resting with some stretches each day, steroid therapy and CONTROLLED EATING :)

I would be so much at peace right now if it weren't for the bombing in Boston! such horror again on our soil intentional destruction and devastation.
I will pull myself away from the news here soon, and breath, deeply in and out and breath again and again until my core is centered and I find a greater sense of security again.

That's great news, Lynn!! I'm cheering for you all the way. I hope you'll be easy on yourself re: the scale during these 6 months. Your hard work is going to pay off in the long run, but the steroids may make it look like nothing is happening. Believe in yourself and keep pushing forward, you'll get there!

Amy, sounds like you have a lot of positive things going on in your life right now. I hope the garden is prosperous in it's growth and feeds your family well throughout the summer.

I got a diagnosis today that actually made sense and a treatment plan that I expect to actually work. All positives. The spinal specialist I saw today was very thorough in his exam and is sending me for a MRI without and with die, I get that done next Monday.
But in the mean time I am on steroids. Don't know if it will help with my sleep, but it will help with the nerve irritation I have. The diagnosis was two fold- cervical radiculitis (the nerve roots in my cervical spine are inflamed and are causing all the pain... this cervical thing actually extends down to my brachial nerves (under the shoulder blades) causing even more pain in the arms). Okay, I can understand that, I can work with that, my physical therapist can work with that, the medication therapy can work with this. WHEW... it may take 6 months to get this all under control, but it's been 4 months so far. As long as I am improving and have a focal point on healing I can deal with anything. Okay, I may get overwhelmed again, but at least I know that someone HEARD me, listened to me and actually took the time, energy and wealth of his knowledge to make a good working diagnosis. After the MRI if there is anything else exposed I will be able to go from there, I can handle change, I can move through this and continue to lose weight (okay, the steroids aren't going to help, but with less pain I can actually work harder with my workouts eventually, with time.
So, with steroids on board, I am a happy camper. I am relieved and more at peace than I have felt in the last 3 months. Thanks for hanging in there with me and for all the support.
I am moving forward... with a plan and with great hopes of continued improvement and eventually resolution! emoticon

My family and I prepared and planted a garden this weekend! I have tomatoes emoticon , peppers emoticon , eggplant, zucchini, yellow squash, cucumbers emoticon and watermelon emoticon plants in the ground.

That was a lot of work to build this garden. That was the day the rototiller decided it wasn't going to start. So we had to hoe and pick axe at the ground until the ground was prepared. emoticon This is the boys' first garden. It is a very important garden.

I brought the boys a bunk bed... gives them more room. However, before they can sleep on it Randy has to reinforce the sides. The boys have been sleeping on a mattress on the floor the last two nights. Hopefully, it doesn't emoticon rain tonight so that can be fixed.

I also took 9 clerical test for the job I applied for. I am keeping my fingers crossed that I am eligible for an interview. I am not putting all my eggs in one basket. emoticon I still keep applying for all places.

Lynn, keep us updated! Hope is a powerful thing. Never run out!!

Whitney, yikes! Good for you for being proactive and taking a self defense class. Hopefully no one will ever mess with you, but if they do they'll regret it!! LOL

Carolyn, keep the stories coming! I love to read about your life and how you got to where you are today!! Our denomination has a womens & childrens hospital in Koutiala, Mali. Medical ministry is so important. I can't imagine living with the death rate that these people live with! Thank you for sharing your skills!!

I've still got my raw tummy. Today is day 3 of feeling raw, bloated, and gassy. I took some mylanta, it maybe helped a bit. I'll be getting some GasX or something later today. I'm tired of feeling this way!! Thankfully it hasn't stopped me from getting my workout in. It's just annoying for the most part.

Today is our day off. Hubby is tied up with his mom and dr. appointments. I'll just have to go do what I want to do without him. I've started a couple batches of soap and a salve. I'll finish those up this afternoon. I hope to get to the library and to a pharmacy. I'll probably get my DVD workout in before I head out. We're supposed to get storms, but I hope they clear up by evening so the kids and I can do our walk/run. If not, we'll go to an indoor track at our local college. They'll think that's cool. LOL

Have a wonderful Monday everyone!

I had another late day today, didn't get back home until after 6:00 and finally got a chance at 8:20 to check my email. I was taking a 2 day class on personal safety and defense. It was pretty interesting and I think I learned a lot. There is a lot of drug activity in this area and there are some pretty scary people around. Not long ago I had a man start following me while I was on my walk and it was pretty obvious he had some mental illness issues. I called my husband to come pick me up because the man was getting pretty close and making some pretty graphic suggestions. There also have been several home invasions within a block of our house in the last few months. I've always felt that senior's are targeted sometimes simply because they're viewed as easy prey so I feel better having taken the class. When I read back over this it makes where I live sound a lot scarier than it is, I think probably more things happen in big cities but often you don't hear about many of them, in a small town you definitely are aware of more that is going on.
Since I was gone all weekend I have a fun-filled catch-up day of laundry and house cleaning planned for Monday. I'd really like to get time for some other kind of exercise besides vacuuming and window washing! Hope everyone had a good weekend and I'll meet you all back here tomorrow.

Thank you Beth. I am hoping that the appointment tomorrow morning will find me with a great doctor who will have answers for me... if not, I am not sure where I will be directed next. But here's to hope!
This weekend I have rested and slept and stretched and moved as much as possible this weekend. I haven't been on the computer very much... it's painful for me to sit and type. But I am determined to get at least half way caught up today.

I hope you all are doing well, enjoying the blooms of spring (if they haven't yet arrived or you are experiencing fall... enjoy the changes going on outside ... they are breath taking and have a reason that can be felt in our bodies also.

Thanks Penny for the heads up about the ST challenge, I'll go take a look!

I did the Kathy Smith walking DVD for the 2nd time today and like it even better. I've written a review blog on it. Today was also the first day of Week 2 for our walk-to-run program. The kids and I did a 28 min. playlist that alternated 3-4 min. walking songs with a 1 min. run. I thought I was going to die! LOL Not really, but I do think this may take two weeks to conquer one week's worth of tasks.

I've been gone all day (tomorrow too). I left at 7:30 this morning and it's 6:45 in the evening now. I'm trying to post something on all my teams before I make dinner. No exercise today, I'm taking a weekend long class and can't very well get up and do jumping jacks or something in the middle of it. I had a small breakfast, packed a lunch and am too tired to eat much for dinner so at least my calorie count won't suffer much.

Happy Friday finally arrived!!! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Last Night, Jamie, Randy, two of the kids and I checked out the new gym in our town. emoticon We all agreed we did not like the set up. The price was ok for the amount of people we have for the membership. However, ever watching the Planet Fitness commercials... well we found the people they call "Lugs" hangout. emoticon I didn't feel comfortable at all! I am happy I had the courage to check it out. I will stick with my gym.

The benefit of going out last night was I did get Jamie out of the house. When we got back... it down pour! emoticon Prefect time if you were to ask me. Rain all night long. emoticon

Today... even though it is FRIDAY emoticon it has been a very long day at work until....

I heard back from one job I really wanted!!! emoticon I received a link in my email to take a couple of clerical test. If and when I pass them, I will be asked to interview for a company where I will be a permanent employee with tons of benefits, great hours and terrific pay.

Now I am so motivated that I have almost finished my work for Monday!!!

Lynn, good for you for standing up for yourself and pursuing your health! I'm sure that was stressful, but you are your best advocate!! I hope you find answers and full healing.

Amy, I'm sure that was very hard. I pray today is a better day for all of you.

Well, I woke quite groggy this morning. I had a late meeting which included dinner. There wasn't a lot to choose from that was healthy. I did the best I could and ate small portions. Therefore, I came in way under my calorie goal. But it was so late when I got home that I wasn't going to eat a full meal then. I think the hour and the messed up diet is really making me drag today. Thankfully it's my second "recovery" day. Hopefully I'll get in some ST but that will be about it. I find myself struggling more and more to get that ST in as scheduled. Maybe I need to join a specific ST challenge!

Have a lovely day wherever you are, teammates!

Popsy...
I just wrote a blog about this.

There are some doctors I would never recommend to anyone else and feel they should return to general medicine to be reeducated in people care.
I am so glad that you had the access to a vascular surgeon right off the bat and I know that would be the specialist I would want on my side or on a family members side if this should happen to another family member (since they run in the family... a vascular surgeon was only consulted on my mother, but it was too late and she had already lost a great deal of function by the time one was able to see her.

Lynn, a second or third opinion is never insulting to a doctor or a waste of time. Medicine is not an exact science and what one might not think of another might. When my husband had the stroke we went to see a vascular surgeon, not because we didn't trust what the hospital doctors said, but because the latter didn't really have time to go into detail about the test results and our GP was away on holiday so not available to elucidate. It was well worth the visit and I hope you have a similar experience with another medical practitioner, other than those you have been used to seeing.

Penny, thank you for the article link... it was helpful.
today was a challenge, I did get my workout in, I really wanted to push my body harder than I have been... I have to be ever so careful to not aggravate my spine as I don't have a follow up appointment with my PT right now. I do see the spine specialist on Friday (tomorrow). I felt a bit of a twinge of pain while I was swimming and then stretching but was able to pull back quickly enough to not have prolonged pain as a result.
I did see a doctor I have been seeing for years... he's been quite helpful and I appreciate the time he has given me but I had to tell him, honestly, today that I feel as though he has dropped the "LYNN" Ball with all the other bigger balls he is juggling. He was, at first, a bit offended, but then admitted that he simply didn't have the answers or the time to discuss it further, so an appointment was made for a month from today where he will hopefully have had time to find someone he can refer me to that may have a different perspective on how to move forward from where I have been stuck for a while.

Hey,
Staying motivated and sticking to a good eating plan etc is extremely hard. Especially when you arent seen much change in your body, weight etc.
I thought i was on the right track, but nothing seems to be changing on the scale etc.
With no one in my life to encourage or motivate me it's even tougher.
But sooner or later somethings gotta give and something will change.
I am fairly sure of that. So I will stick to it, just a little longer.
I am soo used to it now, that i dont really get hunger pains or any cravings really,
so maybe i am getting somewhere i am just not really aware of it!! emoticon

Hello everyone. Gosh, some of us have huge obstacles to deal with - Amy, Lynn and Beth, you are true Trojans! I've posted a link to SP Radio on the Knowledge is Power thread. I think some of you would be excellent interviewees on the programme!

Good for you Lynn. You're making great choices in the face of difficult circumstances. What a great example!!

Amy, I'm glad you had someone notice all your hard work. I'm sure that's motivating!!

Today is an absolutely GORGEOUS day here in southern Ohio. I got my cardio and ST in this morning, had lunch with my family, then dug up one of my garden beds this afternoon. I will get in a walk tonight with my kids, so today's fitness minutes are going to be another high. Yay!!

I'm so eager to get going on the garden, but I have to take it slow. My shoulders give out on me, my arms ache, and my hands swell and go numb. I've been for testing and the drs. didn't find anything. I think it's Guyan's syndrome (nerve pinching in the elbow), but I need to get a different set of drs. to look at it sometime. I find it livable until it's gardening season, then it bums me out. ha ha

Well, I hope it's beautiful wherever you are and that you're able to get out and enjoy it!

I was told I was motivating!

I couldn't believe the words I heard.

Who ME? She was really talking to me.

She mention that she has been watching me since I started at my job. I drink water. I eat veggies all the time. I talk about going to the gym. I join in open discussions of what I have learned. I brought pictures in from when I have started.

I am honestly impressed that someone was paying attention to me!

prayers for you Amy. I hope the steps are marked by God that will help you through the mine fields... so you can make the right choices and find your faith has gotten you through.

Hit a really rough patch 3 weeks ago, it was building for a few month, but I had to be strong at the beginning of the year, I was finishing up a cancer treatment. That treatment has left my body damaged and the pain can be excruciating at times.
I sort of lost my motivation to exercise for fear of hurting myself more. No exercising, depression deepens, depression worse= poor food choices.
This past week I am forcing myself to eat the food that feed my body not my mood.
Exercises that will feed my mood and not cause pain... which is pretty low key for me.
But I am starting to see a change with sleeping 3 nights in a row. Taking cues from my body, when I am sleepy I go to bed.
When I am hungry, I eat a planned meal.
When I have energy I workout ... I am hoping to go to the gym more than 3 times a week. But when I can't make myself go to the gym, I work out at home: Videos, stability ball and weights...
whew. I am doing the basics and reeling myself back in.

Whitney, that's a great idea about listening to audio books while doing the DVD. I'll have to give that a try sometime.

Amy, I'm glad to hear that everyone is making progress.

Carolyn, it sounds like you're busy! I hope the roof can be put back on quickly. I'm sure the pastor & his family would like to be back in their home again. Good for you for taking the step to use Spark Coach! I hope it proves very successful for you.

Sorry I didn't check in yesterday, though I was on SP off and on. It was our normal day off, but not so normal. My MIL was having a heart cath, I had a mild migraine, and there was lots of running to do which my husband typically does. So it seemed like it took all day just to accomplish my healthy priorities. But at least they were accomplished. I got in my ST, WATP cardio, AND my walk with my two youngest. I'm now running in the 80s for fitness fitness. Woohoo!! And it's so LOVELY to get outside.

Have a great day everyone!

Nursing School Spring break is over and school restarted today. I had a full day of working this morning and then teaching this afternoon. I wrote about my day in my blog today. I also finally have a photo of the damage that the tornado like winds did a couple of weeks ago to the Kanda Church parsonage. Here is the link to my blog:

My secret to doing Leslie Sansone video's is to turn the volume off on the TV and listen to one of my audio books while I complete the workout. You really don't have to listen to her, just watch what she's doing and follow along. I really like my audio books, I think it's a lot saner way to exercise.

Way to go DazeyMae on all that exercise!! I look forward to bike riding again some day. I'm getting there, but not quite yet! :)

Catlady, that's awesome about your step #!! I love Chinese food as well. We went today after church. But thankfully I love a lot of the stir fried veggie dishes. I know they're still not the healthiest, but I do my best to pick things like Chicken or Beef & Broccoli, Moo Goo Gai Pan, and stay away from the fried and sweet things. I'm surely thirsty today!!

Whitney, that's wonderful that you got so much unexpected movement in today!! I bet you're so proud. I would be! :)

Another crazy Sunday for me. I think this is just the rhythm of my life right now. No early workout, no breakfast, run-run-run. But I am thankful for how I made the best of a stressful day.

When I got home I looked up some beginner cardio routines on youtube. I put three Denise Austin ones on a playlist and did those for 50 minutes of cardio. I don't think I could do a steady diet of her. People complain about Leslie Sansone talking and laughing, but my goodness, Denise Austin does NOT shut up. But at least it was a different workout.

Then, my proudest accomplishment of the day, I got myself out with my two youngest for the first day of our 12 week walk to run program. We did about 25 minutes of fast/slow walking. We'll do a week of this and then we'll do 1 min run/4 min. walk for about the same time. I've dug out old mp3 players, purchased ear buds, searched and researched music with the right bpms, made playlists. It's been quite a project. Those old little mp3 players are NOT user friendly. But today, it all paid off!

So on the hardest day of my week, I got in 80 fitness minutes and I'm ending the day feeling pretty darn good.

My exercise minutes today turned out to be a bit of a surprise for me. I started out the day thinking maybe I'd have a more relaxing day and take a bit of an exercise break. I've been trying to log 500 calories a day and when all you're doing is low impact exercises it's pretty time consuming. So today I thought, "I'll just do my 38 minute Wii Fit routine, that doesn't take too long." When that was done I thought, maybe Wii Fit Island Run would add a few more calories and it only takes about 5 more minutes. Then I discovered the unopened Wii Sports discs that came with my Wii Fit (3 years ago) and thought, maybe I'll try tennis. I did, I hated it so I tried baseball. Hated it more. I'm not a sports fan, even the virtual kind evidently but it gave me a few more minutes. I was finally ready to call it quits and my husband said, "I think I'll go for a short bike ride, want to come with me?". Why not? My calorie burned total for the day ended up being 510.

Had a better week this week. Not as muhc binging. Did go a little off plan yesterday and today splurged and had Chinese buffet for lunch. I haven't had Chinese food for several months so it was a special occasion. I love Chinese food and don't pick the healthiest food. I like the fried stuff. Fried wontons with the melted cream cheese...yum.

I'm doing a virtual trek on the Chair Exercise Team and so far I have been getting in some good exercise. Walking an hour each day for several days, getting in over 10,000 steps. WooHoo!!!

Happy Saturday everyone!

I finally got to try the Richard Simmons DVD that I'd been wanting to try. I was kinda disappointed. There was a lot of time spent on warm-up and strength training, only about 1/3 of the time was aerobic exercise. So I'll keep looking on Netflix for the next DVD to try. I'm bored with the WATP ones, but the 4 mile with intervals of jogging is the perfect level for me. Now to find something more interesting at the same fitness level!

Late check-in today. It looks like everyone is making progress! And that's all we can ask for, isn't it. One foot in front of the other eventually takes us to where we need to go.

I didn't get any exercise in today. I've been fighting a migraine all day, felt slightly dizzy, and just not up to par. BUT the great news is that today I met a challenge goal two weeks early. I've lost 5% of my body weight, for a total of 11 lb!!!

Hi everyone. My Nursing school Spring break is done and school starts on Monday. I will have a full schedule with 8 hours of classes to teach each week. Mondays will be my hardest day with 4 of those hours that day.

I just wrote a blog entitled, "From 5K to Wheelchair and Back!". I broke my knee and wrist just 13 months ago today. My blog can be found at this link:

Good Friday to all,

AMY I am glad you had better day and got some much needed rest! Randy sound like a great guy Good luck with the job hunt!

CATLADYX8 I think the individual serving of rice are a great idea, despite their added cost, it is worth it.

TOPS-TORTOISE Congrats on being elected leader again. I am sure you are doing a great job! When I walk , my feet and hips hurt and sometimes my back.

Happy reading, VICKI-B-

I having been having a great time during spring break. I wear a pedometer daily, but I've fallen off with getting enough steps in daily, so that I will make my monthly goal. Yesterday, my DH & I went to the casino and ate out. I did more sitting then walking, so I will have to get some extra steps over the next couple of days! I weigh in on Sunday, so I will be happy to stay the same!

Enjoy the day!

Abundant Blessings, Dee
