Mine says 1200-1550. I'm usually at the upper end of that. I do some sort of exercise every day...walk the dog, intervals on the treadmill, pilates, hot yoga...something. Even if it's 10-20 minutes, my goal is to do make moving a habit. I know in the long run it will all work out, it's just simple math. Plateaus happen, but with perseverance it will pay off.

Whether you think you can, or you think you can't...You're right!

Inside me lives a skinny woman...but I can usually shut the b*tch up with cookies! :o)

I had spent quite a bit of time trying, but not succeeding at losing weight with the recommended 1200-1550 range and exercising about 5 days a week, average over an hour at a time. I upped it, but didn't lose ... ended up back at the recommended, exercising about 1/3 of what I was doing, and am now losing weight. I felt MUCH better when I was eating a little more - more energy, less muscle fatigue and confusion (I have fibromyalgia) ... so even though I am losing weight at this point, I have added on about 200 calories in hopes that I can return to a stronger workout routine and continue losing weight, and feel better. I want to lose weight, but know that feeling draggy is not an indication that I am taking better care of myself.

I have an appointment with my doctor this Friday to see if she can help me zero in on what's happening.

Thanks for your posts everyone - it has reassured me that perhaps a little more - with more exercise - is ok to try!

1600 to about 1900. I usually eat just below it or in the lower part of the range. That might be why I'm still losing weight on maintenance although at a much slower pace.

It's posted from 1700-2060 but I seem to be running in the 1200-1400 basis. Probably why I am not losing but just can't seem to "find" time to eat.

1000-1200. Probably not very realistic. I should just exercise more.

1200-1500. I try to keep it around 1200. Some days I'm not at all hungry and have to make myself eat to make sure there's fuel to burn and have a hard time to make it past 900 or 1000.

1200-1550 Unless I keep to the lower level I find it hard to lose any weight at all.

SparkPeople has set my range at 1200-1550. I try to hold right around 1400, give or take a few. That way if I eat a little extra (think holidays?) I don't feel as though I have blown the diet too badly. I have found that if I stay around 1200 my body slows down into starvation mode. Good luck to you!

I'm still not convinced that I am eating the right number of calories to lose weight and be healthy. I realize that we are all at different sizes, have different metabolisms, and different schedules (thus calorie needs), but I'm wondering what type of range(s) other people are finding to be effective for them.

Right now I am shooting for the 1200-1500 calorie range, typically eating on the high end of that.
