When I was growing up it was the same as Thanksgiving with the turkey and trimmings. Now we have salmon and steak with lots of veggies.

Sunday night when my side of the family came down (blended family), we had pizza a emoticon nd lasagna -- their choice since, they'd had a big traditional meal that day at noon! Tonight Don's family will be here and we're having ham and all the side dishes. I'm not weighing myself until next Monday AM!!

Our tradition is tamales, since my hub is from Mexico. Funny enough tho, after making a bazillion of them, I can't eat even one on Christmas. We always have a meat to eat, which this year is prime rib. We got the most incredible deal on it, so that's the meat this time. Usually its ham. Then the side dishes, which really are my favorite!!!

1st off- MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL!

I decided this year to do something different than our traditional meal since we also do the whole New Year's Eve thing for the South- with the greens, & black eye peas- so I opted for us to do the Ham at New Year's.

Today, Christmas I will be baking/roasting a beef round bottom roast. I've got my breadmaker working right now so we can have a late breakfast with homemade bread- YUM

This year I don't know. We are going to my brother and sister in laws. When my mom was still cooking it was always roast beef. Hubby prefers not to have turkey since it's too much like Thanksgiving according to him.

Beef on weck and pasta with my husband's homemade sauce. Since my one niece wants scalloped potatoes my mother is going to make those also. Oh and poor man's pierogi.

Growing up we always had turkey, but after my mom passed away in 2000 there hasn't been a traditional Christmas for me. It's always different.

The usual Xmas dinner would be centered around a turkey for me. Love the veggies, mashed potatos, gravy, cranberry sc. and dressing. Dessert varies but would be a pumpkin pie from the Save On store if we were around Prince George in BC. This yr. we will eat ham with friends though.

Past few years I have been cooking for family on Christmas Eve (fresh ham, turkey, today it's lasagna) then on Christmas day, we visit my elderly relatives and go out to a wonderful Chinese restaurant for lunch. Creates a quiet, peaceful Christmas. Merry Christmas to all and a Blessed New Year.

My traditional dinner has always been turkey, cranberry salad, oyster casserole plus other things. This year I asked my mother (97) what she would like. She requested corned beef, carrots, potatoes, cabbage and pumpkin pie! Wow, sounded good to me since corned beef goes in a slow cooker and all of this takes far less preparation time! So, we are starting a new tradition...eat what you want and share it for a special time. emoticon emoticon Happy Holidays to all of you! May these days be special!

What is your traditional Christmas Dinner based around? Ham? Turkey? Fish?

My traditional Christmas dinner is a Ham Dinner but this year we do not have either so it will be chicken.
