Jennifer...I think your doing a great job. Hang in there....

p.s...it is my personal opinion that some of the so called 'healthy' stuff is a crock..as soon as a food is labeled 'organic' or 'greek' (lol)...or 'low fat'...the price is immediately jacked up.
you don't need to break the piggy bank in order to accomplish your weight loss goals...

Treat every day as a new start - it works with children's school behaviour policies... a new start helps to inspire - make every new day special by making it a renewal of your target-setting. I've been here for years on and off too, but I do carry on in a new phase each time...

I mean...sometimes you have to look back at the day before and analyze it for what could you have done to do a better job or be more prepared. But you have to learn from it, live in the moment and also look toward tomorrow. (I also just love the music...it is catchy).

Also...try taking it one pound at a time one week at a time..if you lose faster---great. If you set your goals for other things rather than pounds it takes the focus off of the results and more into the process. My big focus is exercise because I appear to have the eating under control now that I am 3 months into this journey.

I, too, get discouraged but tell myself if I didn't do well today, then tomorrow is a new day and I need to help myself do better. The scale isn't the tell all. How do you feel? Are your clothes feeling a little looser? Have you lost inches?

One thing you didn't mention is do you track your food & fitness every day? You would be able to tell a little better if you have a gauge to go on. Members that are active on these threads seem to lose more weight that people that are not active because there is always wonderful people here for support & advice. There has been excellent advice given here & I bet more will be coming. So, keep tracking and keep talking! Good luck to you. You can do it!

These are all great ideas. Here is one more.....try eating soups. Campbells are usually low in price and the soup fills you up. Look for the ones with lentils or beans in them.. emoticon emoticon emoticon

emoticon It can be discouraging at times what I find as a person with limited funds is to make sure I weigh and measure all of my foods In truth on this journey can can still eat your favorites but in moderation and portion control Up your cardio routine should be at least 3 to 4 times a week

First, I would encourage you to reconsider your goal - is it realistic to reach it in 19 days? Second, please don't dwell on the past because you can't change it. You can only change the future, so focus your energy there, ok? Basic foods like fruits & veggies are cheap - shop around the outside walls of the store & cook at home to eat well and frugally. You can do this!! Now, GO!

We all have slip ups and often use food to help us thru times when life gets in the way. The important thing is not to dwell on the slip up, but remember how far you've come. Don't negate all the postive changes you've made. So, you're not where you want to be right now, neither am I, but we're on our way and that's better than where we've have been. I've often been reminded that once a slip happens, it's best to learn from it and move on. It's what you do next that counts. Make your next choice a healthy one. emoticon

You don't need money to get healthier or get fit.

Drink lots of water before each meal, and when you feel hungry. More often then not that hunger feeling is due to dehydration.

WALK; WALK; WALK. You don't have to get far; walk around a small block in your neighbourhood; and you don't have to do all your walking in one session; go out several times per day....before work or getting kids off to school; take a lunch break (whether or not you work outside the home); a quick trip around the block while dinner is in the oven...etc. Get the idea.

Healthier food options in the grocery store may look more expensive but in the long run they are the cheaper options in terms of health care costs down the road.

Do get hung up on when you slip up....just pick yourself and dust yourself off and start all over again.

This is a journey and life style change.....not a race to the finish line. You didn't get this way over night.

I too get discouraged and have been at this for 4 yrs and still not at my goal ! But am happy where I am. emoticon

Here's wishing you better luck in the future. Try to up your walking, and of course you seem to know that paying close attn to calories is vital. Of course you are worth it the Creator did not make any junk. The world is in a state right now that we all struggle more and less financially. We live so far north that we pay dearly for the good stuff and also struggle. I always remember the line "No one promised you a rose garden" when I get down. It is so true, not only did no one promise one but no one delivered one either. The struggle is the journey and we need to do our best. This site has a lot of help especially the sugar addiction team with ElizRN leading it. It is extremely helpful with the need to change how we think. Try it and enjoy the journey on the white bus.

If you've been doing the same exercises all along you may need to add a new one or two. This sometimes starts you loosing again. Good Luck, don't give up hope, you're worth it.

Okay.. I know I havenít posted in here for a long time, but Iím really in a discouraged state of mind right now.

I set a goal a week before July ended to lose 10 lbs by my birthday (which is in 19 days). I feel I took a step backward this morning when my scale said 1.6 gained. Oddly enough, I know what I did Ė gave into my boredom and ate/drank things I shouldnít have. I exercised this week Ė well, twice: burned 908 calories this week. I have to admit when I saw the number on the scale, I cried. Thinking Iíve done well.

Right now, my husband and I donít have the funds to get the healthy stuff or anything at all for that matter. So I have very limited food choices. This is really hard for me right now.
