Absolutely amazing. I've been trying to walk across America, using the tracker at http://exercise.lbl.gov/index.html , but so far I have barely made it past Richmond, VA.

oh I see....none the less, that a whole lot of walking :)

I don't have any type of formula for my 'virtual' Bike Across America....
I bike actual miles and then with the help of google maps, figure up where my miles are taking me.....
I just reached my 1st destination today, Searchlight, NV..60.9 miles.

I'm averaging 15-16 mph...

My TOPS club started out walking to Atlanta. I walk more then the others, I got to Atlanta, so I went on to San Deigo-got there now I'm going up the coast to Seattle Washington

DR8561 (sorry, I'm not sure what you actual name is lol)...
I think you would have a blast with a 'virtual' bike ride..I know I am.

For me, 'exercise' is a horrible word, lol....

Biking Across America...well it's exciting to see where your going to be biking next, setting mini goals, choosing virtual destinations, and then, like today, actually entering another state that you thought wasn't possible...it's a total thrill.
I also started adding 'virtual' pictures, kind of like postcards...to my website, making it all that more 'real'...

Basically, I'm just having fun and turning a boring 'exercise' routine into a 'virtual' excursion...*smile*

I'm really excited about my progress so far...
I think what's the most exciting part of all of this for me is that with my MS & the recent strokes, I have great difficulty in walking around...usually after 100ft or so my legs turn to jello and if I don't sit down, I fall down. When I go grocery shopping or have to run around town doing errands, usually one of my boys or my husband comes with me and helps me get around the stores because often times I lose all feeling in my legs and/or feet. Walking around Walmart is no easy feat these days but I'm just not willing to use a cane/walker...I usually just hold on to the shopping cart for dear life.....my husband calls me stubborn, lol...

With the recumbent bike, I don't have any fears of falling down and when my legs do get tired I simply stop for the day.
Right now I'm doing 20 minutes each day...and I'm thrilled that I can go this long and still be able to stand up at the end.
My feet do go a little numb while I'm pedaling but again, because I'm in somewhat of a reclining position, it doesn't interfere with my workout....plus I'm using the muscles in my legs to move the pedals.

Today Nevada...tomorrow..who knows, hehe

I'm soooo excited..I've been 'Biking Across America' since July 19th, 2012...doing just a few miles each day (lol..keeping in mind that I'm a desert tortoise)..and today I finally crossed over the CA/NV state line heading toward my first 'virtual' destination in Searchlight, NV.

46 miles and counting....Onederland, here I come.

I'm only 14.9 miles away from reaching this first goal (Searchlight, NV 60.9 miles total from my starting point in the Mojave National Preserve, CA) emoticonemoticon but crossing the border today into Nevada has giving me a ton of motivation to keep on biking...

and my butt isn't wiggling as much as it was 2 weeks ago..hehe
