Patty pan squash are a light green round flattish summer squash. I cook the small one whole by steaming them. To me they taste like butter. My mother use to slice them up and eat them with eggs.. Today I am taking the left overs and mixing them with onions and brown rice with a little lite soy sauce.

Kind of chilly here in sunny Ca this morning, just right for my walk. I got a little sweaty but not as bad as I usually get. Making a nice dinner of ribs, patty pan squash and brown rice tonight. I ate light Cal. most of today to have the cal. for it.

Maintaining in the low 130's. I'm okay with that for now, but I am already getting psyched up to do what I did last year, which it to lose weight between Halloween and New Years. I lost 19.75 pounds last year instead of gaining over the holidays. I intend to lose some more, maybe not that much, but still lose rather than gain over the holidays.

Today I noticed some fine print under my fitness tracker with some red highlighting about getting enough calories. I had seen it there before but figured it was just a general guideline. But today I read it closely and followed it to a link where I updated my fitness activities, and it added almost 300 calories to my daily range! Which I thought was great, because I was just starting to wonder if I needed to recalculate that. Sparkpeople is really smart, when you start using more of the features!

Thats for the idea of the lower cal peanut butter I will check it out.

Today for my cardio hubby and I are walking up town 2.5 miles. We both did 30 minutes on the exercise bike, we do that every day. We were going through his dresser today and putting his to big jeans aside for the goodwill. looks like I will have to buy him some new ones this month. And some for me too.

What type of work do you do? I am retired so every day seems the same to me. Week ends are just as good as week days.

i have been on this peanut butter kick for the last two days. i have not let it get out of hand just split a pb&j with my hubby as our 3:00 snack. Ever get in to a grove where you just want some thing you don't usually eat?

Glad to hear I'm not the only one with a weird week. I like it that way because I get more done, and I don't have an immediate family to worrry about sharing my weekends with. To me any two days off together is a weekend.

Today is starting off dry but that'll change around 2pm. Hubby and I got outside this morning and cut the grass while we had the chance. Bob can't do but a row or two at a time with his heart condition and with my broken wrist it does make it a challenge but between us we got it done.

Today on spark coach I read an article about strength training. It said you should do 20-30 minutes. I had been only doing 10 minutes ,so I looked up exercises and increased my ST. Feel healthier already.

weigh in today, down 2.8 pounds emoticon

I think it has to do with using Spark coach and then increase in my exercise. Writing down my goals helps too as one was how i was going to work out more. Checking my goals every morning was a big help.

My MS flared up this past week :(
having problems with my walking..not able to walk without assistance from my husband this past week, my speech is back to being slurred, very tired but I'm trying to remain upbeat...and of course doing a little on my bike each day....still Biking Across America.

I'm at 220 miles as of yesterday...

Who knew the state of Arizona was so big, lol....but I'm almost to Wickenburg, AZ....a few more miles (45.8 miles, lol)

My weight loss is slower than usual. I've only lost about a pound and a half this month. I increased my fitness minutes, but I'm not making the best food choices. I have to work on that! It's weird, that wasn't a problem for me before, but I go through phases where I just want to eat too much or eat the wrong things.

Well, nothing is going right for me this week...lol...

I'm doing great and stayin' on track with calorie range and tracking everything on spark, but the exercise before work has not happened yet this week.

We have had a lot of unexpected errands pop up ( due to hubby bein' out of work now), and today we turned off the alarm and fell back asleep..

I had such a stressful and horrible night at work last night and then I woke up with a killer headache which I still have.

Hoping I can make some time to fit in a work out before my shift at 5PM.. All I can do is try!

So got in a walk today, and it felt pretty good. Also did a bootcamp video. Feeling pretty tired right now though. Hope everyone has a great Thursday.

I have read on Spark People that you should eat breakfast before working out in the morning. i am not hungry in the morning but eat a bowel of oatmeal and then work out. if you do not eat at least the low range of your daily totals you will shift in to starvation mode and cal. will be stored as fat. When I tried just eating when I was hungry I gained five pounds.

Yesterday was a weird day for me. I got in 60 minutes of cardio and by 9:00pm I was 700 calories under my range for the day. I just wasn't hungry. I measured out 2oz of cashews at 9:30pm and made myself eat them but I'm feeling just as un-hungry today. I thought maybe I was catching a cold but I don't think I would have as much energy for exercise if I were getting sick. I got 3 miles in this morning before work and still haven't had breakfast. I don't know if I should listen to my body and be under on calories or if I should stick with the plan and make myself eat. I'm afraid if I don't eat I'll wind up starving in a few days and eating everything in the fridge. I'm a mess! lol :)

Hi everyone,
Hope everyone's week is going well. My weekend is just ending so tomorrow is my Monday, and it's back to work for me. Got quite a bit done this weekend, and am just finishing up laundry now. It's either do laundry or have nothing to wear for the next week. I am on my 2nd week of the 10 minute of exercise a day challenge, and so far it's 3 days for 3 days this week. I also did a couple of the bootcamp videos this week. Have a great week everyone.

try to see if your library has the exercise videos first. that way you can try them before you buy them.

Well... Just finished my Denise Austin Workout and became very frustrated bc she moves so quickly.. I'm still sweating even after the cool down which is great, but the same thing happens when I do my Richard Simmons "Disco Sweat" High Impact work out and I know those moves by heart! I just thought it would be good to have "change," but I'm gonna go ahead and stick with "Disco Sweat" on my days off bc I know it, enjoy it and get a good burn. Once I get back in the groove of working out all the time and then need a change, maybe I could keep up w/her then? LOL

I need to remember at this time the most important thing is to move and do something!

I made a goal for myself today, to lose 20 pounds in 90 days. I am going to do that using Spark coach and Spark meal plans. I start the meal plans today and they are working out good!!

I'm going to be working on accomplishing another 'mini' goal today (and possibly tomorrow depending on how far I get today)

Good Morning,

I'm still making progress bending my knee. Friday I bent it 80 degrees and the PT bent it 90 degrees. I need to bend it at least 90 degrees comfortably before I can get on a plane and go back to Africa. I only have 8 PT sessions left before my insurance no longer pays so I joined a Wellness Center on Friday so I can supplement sessions there, using the same machines that I've used in PT and also the pool. I paid a "Transitional" price and my PT will fax over my program to the Wellness Center. I will have a coach for one session to help orient me to the machines there at the center.

"Not Perfection but Progress" in my lifestyle changes.

**New to this Team**

2011 ended with me losing 21 lbs! *YAY*
(started at 197.6 lbs & I was in a tight size 16)

I'm now a size 12 (loose) with 11 more lbs. to lose!

I CAN DO IT! =o)

I just reached a New Low of 167.0 lbs

I haven't been this weight in MANY years.

I've been married to my hubby Dave for 19 years and we have a son, Cory that graduated from high school in May, 2012!

We also have a precious Pet-Daughter, ZuZu.

For the most part, I have been a stay-at-home-mom unless my hubby is in need of my help. =o)

(My hubby just lost his job of 21 years bc the company closed!)

I'm a Sever at the Cracker Barrel at this time.

Been there 6 months now and that caused me to stop my weight-loss journey bc of my crazy hours and being so worn out.

I have to fight the good fight though and KEEP GOING to reach my goals!!

11 lbs. are not going to be easy by no means to get off! Those last few lbs. are always the longest & hardest to remove!

Once there, I will know if I need to keep going or maintain.
I won't know till there bc It has been "over" 10 years since I have been in the 150's.

I'm thinking it may be a total of 15 lbs I need to lose still...

Have fun,

Good Morning,
So far it's a nice start to the day. Got in my walk and got a little housework done. Now checking team mail then will get some letters answered (I pen pal). I can now write with my right hand but it's tight writing, not my usual style. But hopefully as my wrist heals more I'll be able to write more in my normal style.

Hi everyone,

I am also doing the Sparkcoach, and just signed up for it. It's really helped out, and if you can afford a month at a time try it. Had a great day today. Got everything done so far, and got in my ten minute exercise., Went over my calorie range yestarday, but thought I would. Went out to dinner with my Step-mom, and had a cheeseburger and fries. Not fast food though at a good restaurant. Also had a salad with that.

I am doing the two week trial with spark coach guy. Anyone else trying this? I really like it so far and it has helped me to stay on track. But don't know if I want to pay for it. Anyone else have thoughts on it or have you tried it?

Not been doing very well. Been fighting my asthma and arthritis. But I'm on some different meds, hopefully this will get things calmed down so I can get back to my walking. And the heat has broken too!!! Yea!!!! emoticon That will help a lot.

I got a walk/run in today too, 7 miles. My feet realy hurt, won't do a long walk untill Sunday.

We just got back from the cardioligist's office a few minutes ago. Bob does need to get the defibulator but the doctor said it can wait til January. But he'll be getting it right after the first of the year. He's not real happy about it but he's going to get it done.

I'm doing better today. actually got outdoors and helped hubby cut the grass this morning. Pushing a lawn mower one handed is quite the workout but I'd do what I could then stop and rest while Bob did a row or two. Then I'd take over again. Bob has a heart condition so he can only do so much, but between us we get it done. He sees the cardioligist this afternoon to find out if he's going to need a defibulator. He doesn't want one but he may have to get it anyway. His heart strength is only 35%. So we'll see what happens.
