I love to go where I can see the beauty of nature and walk and spend some time alone. I can't do camping unless it is in an rv, because since my knee replacements I can't get up and down from the ground very easily. I also like going to new areas. We were supposed to go to a vacation to Disneyworld this summer, but some things came up and instead we are planning on going next year. I will be travelling with a family with 4 children. It should be fun, but I will probably need a vacation by myself for a while after that.

I prefer camping anywhere.Ian doesn't so we usually use b&bs he goes trainspotting while i ride around the countryside on public transport or we go birdwatching and photographing together depending on how we feel.We never plan too far in advance usually spur of the moment when work is quiet.

I like vacations which are somewhere warm and sunny... no surprise given my location, I think.
I don't like camping here because there are always bears around and I don't feel safe enough in a tent to really relax. If we had a RV it would be different.

Do you prefer Vacation trips that are nearby? far away? At least a day away.
Do you prefer Camping? Using Hotels? Staying at someone's house? LOVE camping!
Do you prefer Site seeing? Visiting family? Fishing? Reading? Shopping? Doing "nothing"? I prefer seeing the natural beauty of the area and getting a feel for the area
Do you take "Staycations".... .staying at home but making "Day trips" to nearby locations? We have but it's not my favorite.
What type of VACATION do you prefer? I would LOVE to visit one of the 4 states I have left to see. I do like cruises and hope to do one in the next couple of years.
Have you planned to take a vacation trip this summer? No.. our youngest is getting married so that is probably it for the year.

My favorite kind of vacation is going on a supported bike tour... where I bike most days and walk all the rest of the days. Especially when I can see new places, meet new people, and taste new local foods.

Okay, call me weird, but I love all vacations. Any time that I get to spend with my family, staying/going, camping/hoteling, near/far... I really just love. Its a great way to reconnect and learn stuff together... either about each other (and seriously, I do learn stuff about my hub even after 30 years of togetherness) or about the places we visit. Kinda silly, but true.

Whenever I take some time off work (aka vacation), I just stay home (which some people have said to me is "not a vacation"). I just can't afford to travel - yet. Within the next year or so, my finances will be better and I'll go back to travelling. When I used to travel (in the days before divorce), I liked to visit the sites in an area the first time I went there. If I went back to one place, then I usually visited the 1 or 2 sites that I found particularly interesting but spent most of the time resting by the pool.

We have a pool in our backyard so we stay home during the summer months. We vacation in the "off" season and that is usually to a warm location and preferably where there is a beach. We rent bikes and survey our surroundings. Aah!

I really do like Staycations. (day trips), especially to the coast - about 1 hour from me. I don't really like to stay in hotel. Never quite sure how sanitary it is. I like "day" camping, but not sleeping in a tent/sleeping bag. I am too old for that...hurts my body. I love spending time with family. I would go out on the lake for a little while if someone brought their boat. I don't own one.

All the vacations I took when we had children at home were usually a lot of work so now that I am without children any vacation other than hitchhiking around the country sounds wonderful to me. I would love a trip to anywhere, anyhow that I am not doing all the work. Not a cruise though, I do not want to face all the food offered. Let that be a low key part of the vacation. We do go and live in Mexico for 6 months every yr. and that is so good but it is really just residing in a different location.

We do some camping trips, and some trips to a small beach town where we can just rest and relax. My favorite vacations are cruises, but my husband doesn't like them so we do these instead

Since I retired, we have been taking "bucket list" trips. Antarctica, Macchu Pichu, Galapagos, Egypt, Jordan. Next up: East Africa.

I love road trips with no pre-planned destinations. I wish I could go this long week-end,but,too much work to do. Me and my youngest daughter try to go once in the summer. We just drive and stop when we see something interesting, finding pamphlets of local stuff to do on the way. I love to tent, but haven't done that in quite a few years-my husband hates it with a passion.

We haven't vacationed in ages, can't really afford it. I do like to road trip. If I can ever afford it, I would love to go overseas, but it would require no flying, I hate the system of flying in the states now, it's not like it was 20 years ago when flying was a fun part of the trip and you got a meal and little cheeses.
An excuse is just a challenge to figure out how to do something different.

I prefer one that takes my wife and me to a part of the country that we have never been, so we can explore our great country or a quiet place with no agenda so that we can relax and "stick our toes in the sand. "

We as a family take up to three vacations per year. Our obligatory trip back home every summer. One towards the end of the year and one in the Spring. We tend to travel around where we live. We've been traveling through South East Asia since our move to Japan. We have our son point at the map and that's usually our destination. We like to stay away from large hotels but especially recommended restaurants and choose restaurants that are full to capacity at mealtime. Our philosophy is that if the locals eat there, it must be good food. We usually end up meeting fascinating people at those restaurants that leads us to great experience like squid fishing with another young family in Thailand.

I am lucky to be able to do a lot of travelling - that is one of the highest priorities on my "life list". I just recently came back from The Netherlands/Portugal. I think I prefer trips that are far away - to places that I haven't been before. I usually take over a thousand pictures. I love plane rides, so the longer the better. I love meeting people of other cultures and getting immersed in these cultures. It is better is I can stay with locals, but that doesn't always happen. So I prefer to get a hotel. I do also like road trips, but haven't taken one in awhile.

Actually----I am leaving tomorrow morning for ARUBA for 8 days. Never been, but am excited. Going with my girlfriend from the east coast....who I haven't seen in over a year. Going to celebrate my 50th birthday. I haven't been on a REAL vacation since moving to the mid-west. Have always been quick trips back east...which are NOT relaxing...always trying to see everyone--family & friends. So this one WILL be relaxing!!!!

I like variety in vacations. Sometimes I site see. Sometimes I visit family. Sometimes I fly, other times I drive. I don't camp and I prefer hotels.
I had planned to drive to MN to visit family until I fell and broke my leg. I had also started making plans to take a short trip to do some site seeing not far from home.
NOW I will wait til I'm up and walking then will decide where to go and what to do.
