We do eat a lot of chicken and turkey, but I do my own marinades, which are lower in salt. I buy bone in chicken parts with skin on and make broths with the bones and skin, defatting after a night in the frige. We do like sausages. I use chicken Italian sausage in my Italian dishes that call for Italian sausage, and buy turkey pastrami when the urge for pastrami gets strong. But we are cutting down on such, because of the sodium.

I try not to eat too much processed meat because the sulfites and such are notnotnot good for you. That said, when I do eat processed foods I eat the real thing. I do low carb, not low fat, so there isn't much advantage to me switching them out.

I agree with Emily....stay away from processed foods and thinking of avoiding meat altogether getting proein from greek yogurt, eggs, black beans and lentils.

I avoid processed meats as much as possible, but I occasionally will use a turkey smoked sausage in jambalaya for the family. I am very fond of "real" bacon that is uncured and has no nitrates/nitrites.

Yes, I have been incorporating chicken and turkey products in your family meals as I see them on sale and even have a coupon available to try them. I use ground turkey extra lean, turkey tenderloins that are marinated, turkey and chicken sausages, and I think we even used turkey bacon once.
Sometimes I use them. I have to watch my salt though so don't eat a lot of baccon. One thing I do use is ground turkey, but you have to be careful some places will grind the skin with it making it contain more fat.
