me too, just little ones. I was once celebrating my birthday in downtown seattle at middle eastern restaurant and the music was so loud and belly dancers were about. the table started moving away from us and the chandeliers were swaying. NO ONE NOTICED! except me, I leaned over to my Mom and said, look, we're having an earthquake! She was just about to panic when it stopped.

All the time.
Alaska has more earthquakes than any other state.
The worst one was the great Alaska quake in 1964 which was a 9.2 Luckily, I was living in California at the time and experiencing many other earthquakes there.

MANY - I GREW UP IN CaLIFORNIA. THE LARGEST WAS A 6.3 quake when I was 8. I was playing with a friend in her yard. Suddenly the ground under our feet felt like Jello, undulating as we ran, and her swing set began to swing wildly by itself. We ran to her mom in their kitchen - inside, all the cabinet doors were banging open and shut and crockery was leaping out them and crashing on the floor. Her mom stood, hands raised, in mid room, praying out loud, eyes shut. Soon everything quieted down. Other than the crockery, most of the local damage was fallen chimneys and other brickwork. One unfortunate man died when he was hit by such a falling chimney. I'll never forget the queasy feeling of the solid earth turning to Jello under my feet - and that was not even a really big one!

Yes twice, I felt the one that affected Meckering in 1968 (one of Australia's worst earthquakes) and then I felt a minor one when I lived in the Uk but not the one Misotu felt as I've been back in Australia for 17 years.

Misotu I used to live just outside Birmingham.

Ditto DIDI.... Having been born and raised in Southern California, and still living here at 64 years old, we feel them all the time. Living on the Newport Inglewood fault it can be weekly. It still scares the beejeebers out of me emoticon My biggest fear is a strong one might be a pre-cursor to "THE BIG ONE" so I'm pretty nervous for a couple hours and then settle down. We have a swimming pool and it's always a good gauge with how much water washes out. Living on the coast tsunami's are always a worry too. But I wouldn't live any where else emoticon

Yes, once, but thought it was a blast from nearby cement factory where they're always blasting with dynamite in the quarry. Didn't know until later it was a real earthquake.

Yesterday was the second time I've felt an earthquake, I live in central VA only about 30 miles from the center ... by the time it dawned on me what was happening it was over. There was another earthquake in VA in 2004 and at that time I was on the 9th floor of a high rise office building, the floors felt like they were vibrating, I thought at the time it was a plane or helicopter flying too low...

Still feeling aftershocks today... I can't really say that it is fun.

I experienced my first one ever yesterday! Here in VA.

A women is often measured by the things she cannot control.
She is measured by the way her body curves or doesn't curve, by where she is flat or straight or round.
She is measured by 36-24-36 and inches and ages and numbers, by all the outside things that don't ever add up to who she is on the inside.
And so if a women is to be measured, let her be measured by the things she can control;
by who she is and who she is trying to become.
Because as every women knows, measurement

In the Midwest, it is very uncommon to have one although there is a big fault going through us. I experienced a small one many yrs. ago in Des Moines IA. I was sitting on the floor talking on the phone when everything in the room began moving. Didn't think about an earthquake until it was done. We are more concerned about tornadoes doing damage versus earthquakes,

Yes, twice. The first one was the big earthquake in Alaska (1963) and I was a teen in northern Canada. I watched and listened as the china cabinet moved and rattled and wondered why. But the second one was outside of Prince George(1986) and was home from work lying in bed in a log house and as I looked, the wall seemed to move forward and then back. It was particularly bizarre but I did realize it was an earthquake.

Yes, once, in the UK. There was quite a good earthquake epicentred in Dudley, Birmingham about 8-9 years ago. Took everyone by surprise - the UK is not exactly known for its earthquakes. I was wide awake at the time and remember being puzzled as to why the floor appeared to be striking my feet repeatedly without me moving ...

I felt my first and only earthquake in 2007 when I lived on Oahu. Apparently the earthquake's epicenter was a few miles off the coast of the big island (Hawaii) but it knocked out all of the power. On Hawaii and Oahu. It wasn't too scary, but we were on tsunami warning for 24 hours following.

Once, very minor. Just rattled some dishes and made our water bed wiggle funny in the night, but was enough to wake me up.

I also live in southern California, and we have them all the time; it's easy to get blase' about them. When I lived in the D.C. area I never felt any. Given how much older all the east coast infrastructures are, and how few areas there have any earthquake standards in the building codes, I'd rather be on the west coast if I have to go through one.

I grew up in Southern California and live in the Northwest now. Yep, many, many times - but always witnessed the big ones from afar!

Yes, in Idaho. Nothing serious but the chandeliers began to sway. Epicenter was about 60 miles away but it wasn't a strong one.

I have twice, here in Maryland. The first time, several years ago, it was early in the AM & I was in bed. I heard a noise like a truck going by but realized that there wasn't. Then I felt the bed shake.

The 2nd time was yesterday. I was at the farm with my horse. The farm "dog" came out of the garage & started barking in the direction of the woods. I have been there for 9 years & have never seen him do that before. So I thought that was strange. Then, the apartment on top of the barn started shaking dramatically. Not knowing what was going on, I started freaking out. Then, I felt the earth move. So did my horse who proceeded to leap straight up in the air with all 4 feet. Luckily I wasn't on his back. I was at the farm alone & the radio I had on continued to play music with no word on what was happening. I took about 20 min. or so to calm myself & my horse down & finally the dj on the radio started talking about the earthquake. Not fun!! emoticon

Yes, I'm in California too. I can remember them being really scary the first time I felt one. I feel bad for East Coasters but I'm glad the damage was minor.

I did! I did! I work in a lab Aberdeen Proving Grounds in MD.. hearing munitions and having our bldgs shake are not unusual occurances. My first thought was the instrument I was working on was about to blow up lol.. then I thought someone was shaking my bench (it's on wheels), but then I realized I was the only one in the room! I looked around and thought maybe they set off some kind of explosive, and then I realized it was lasting too long and the whole bldg was rocking back and forth! It was so unbelievable! We almost NEVER get earthquakes in MD.. let alone something so strong!

Yes, here in the Northwest we have earthquakes from time to time. I only remember 3 of them as being significant, but they are always scary. I think once you feel one, the next ones are even scarier.

Yes and it was very scary. Where I live in Wisconsin, was far away from the center, but everything still shook. Now looking back it is funny, though not at the time. One of my cats was walking, just stopped with feet spread apart and the biggest eyes you have ever seen on a cat.

Nope, never felt one, don't want to. I have lived in the midwest all my life and have never felt an earthquake tremor of any kind.

You know I haven't until yesterday and wouldn't have known it was one until a friend up the road called to check on us. Because we live in a military town, Jacksonville, NC I have a lot of military fly overs plus feel the effects of artillery training regularly so when something rattles or shakes its not a biggie to us. Yesterday, the only thing I noticed was my curio cabinet rattling a little especially the cookie jars on top. I thought one of the dogs got behind the sofa in the other room and was butting up against the wall or my son was bouncing on the sofa.

I can only hope we don't experience anything more extreme than that, but if so we will do our best to persevere. It does make me wonder though if the schools in the area will start having possible earthquake drills along with the tornado and fire ones so they would know how to react?

I have only ever felt one single tremble. It was early morning and I was just getting ready to get out of bed when I felt it. It was so short I almost thought I imagined it but my husband felt it too. We were in Colorado Springs and the quake actually hit in the next state over. This was in or around 1996.

Kathy

I lived in Japan for two years and felt a number of earthquakes. Two were more significant. One for it's strength and the other for it's length. I was working at the hospital for one and a small bulletin board fell off of the wall and hit me in the head. It didn't hurt but just surprised me. We had certain procedures we had to do to take care of our patients (women plus new born babies).

Have you ever felt an/the EARTHQUAKE?
