Have started to go through some storage boxes church kids are having a yard sale the end of May so have to have the stuff to donate ready by then. If it ain't been used in 20 years time to toss. the actual cleaning doesn't begin until after mud season. With all the snow we have right now, guess I'll start in April or May. The

We have started with going through some boxes we were storing and tossing or donating. I try for one big project a week so I don't get too far behind, but it still accumulates. Weather not right for windows and screens, drapes etc. I take pictures of some of my stuff, and asked the kids or grandkids if they wanted anything also before I give it away. Some of my knick-knacks and music boxes went that way. It is nice to see them enjoy them.

I adopted the Chinese tradition of cleaning before the New Year begins. Since Chinese New Year is usually early February, that gives me the whole month of January to clean and de-clutter.

Since I am a stay at home mom/ home school teacher my house wasn't always clean but it was getting and staying tidy. Our family has had quite a stressful 6 moths what with my beloved mother in law passing away very unexpectedly, my husband losing his job and he hasn't found another, the dog dying, and having to take the bus everywhere. Its hard to grocery shop for 7 people via bus....anyways my house is so in need of a deep cleaning. We had a vehicle parked on the side of our house and a neighbor complained about it.So I had to put my broke down van in the garage meaning that everything in the garage ended up in the house and the broke down vehicle that was going to be towed had to be put in the driveway where the van was......so in between trying to get caught up in school and dealing with all the stress my house is screaming at me......

Because we live 6 mos in two countries I just do major cleaning when I arrive and leave each time. I don't mind a bit of dirt as long as it is my dirt.

I don't really do a big ol' spring cleaning. I just clean like mad anytime someone comes to visit long enough to stay in the guest room. My sister is coming on Thursday, for instance, so I scrubbed everything yesterday. Now I just have to maintain until Thursday!

I don't really do the 'spring cleaning' thing, as I just do my best to keep the house as clean and tidy as possible. This is a huge feat to begin with considering how many cats I have. Basically we're just working around boxes at the moment. We moved in in October, but since we have three kittens under the age of 1, we can't put anything nice out until they calm down or else it'll get broken. Now we may be moving out of the city next year so I can go to university, so we're debating whether to deal with the unpacking or just find the boxes we need and keep them accessible. It's like a tetris-house with a near constant coating of cat fur depsite my efforts. haha

I would have to agree with CROTTYN. Do it day by day, not once a year. I will have plenty of spring yard work.

I am trying to do a little at a time. I tend to accumulate things and then get so frustrated with all the clutter that I get rid of everything and start over! It's a vicious cycle.

My spring cleaning means that I will call a window cleaning company when the nice weather is here to stay and get my screens & windows cleaned. My mother and younger sister are hoarders and this has made me get rid of dust collectors often. I drop off at lot at St. Vincent dePaul or it goes in the garbage often. It's surprising how much stuff we collect that will not mean a thing to anyone when we die so why have it clutter up our lives now.

I never understood the concept of spring cleaning. Keep you items picked up and cleaned out all year rounbd. Why spring? Guess you know my answer.

DH & I started shredding old, and I mean OLD papers this past week. I had some tax papers and canceled checks from the 90's. Seriously. He claims there is a box of 1980 stuff in the attic that we'll have to do next wk.

Honestly I started my "Spring cleaning- clean sweep/organization drill" back in January! Now I just have to focus on the yard since the signs of Spring are all around and the pollen balls are starting to show on the pines in our area!
Good luck to those who have decided to take on their homes in an cleaning frenzy.

I should be doing some of that, but am snuggled under a blanket Sparking while drinking hot coffe against the chill I got shoveling snow for 1/2 hour this snowy morn. Hard to think about Spring at mo, tho my dh is busy right now with his seedlings, starting on our garden already. Last frost date here is not 'til June!

I try to do some extra cleaning, especially when I can open the windows. Still to cold to open the windows. Actually, think most of the spring cleaning is washing the windows.
You would think snow would be a good cleaner but it isn't.

I've never done any spring cleaning. Guess I'm not very traditional. My cleaning is year round, with stop offs for heavy duty stuff when the need arises.
