What will I do when I reach my goal?

Well I will get rid of all the clothes in my closet that I have held onto "just in case" because I am not going to go back to my unhealthy lifestyle! And I will buy a swimsuit- one that doesn't make me feel like an old lady or a fat person trying to hide. And I will hike in Tuscany and not be short of breath with my wonderful husband of 32 years. And I will be thankful for every single day that I have been given in my new healthy body!

"I am able to do all things through Christ Jesus who strengthens me!" Philippians 4:13

This is copied from my blog for today.

I did it! I thought and thought until I thought of one dream I have. When I reach my ultimate goal, I want to dance. I want to wear a beautiful gown and dance. Now I can make a collage.

I love to dance, but haven't been able for so many years I can't remember. I do remember what it felt like to dance freely and even wildly. I remember how it felt to be held in my partner's arms and to imagine a long term loving relationship.

That relationship has eluded me, partially because of my weight. Still, I have time and desire, motivation and contacts. I can do it. My heart is already dancing. Join me in a rollicking whirl around the floor.

WHAT WILL I DO IF I MEET MY GOAL.

I can only say when I reach my join, I will make ever effort to keep it off. I will reward myself with a pat on the back and maybe that a vacation to visit my daughters. I will be proud of myself and thankful my to Spark Friends who have helped me along the way. It has been a very slow journey. Have been a member since June 2007 and so far have only lost 12 lbs, but I have never been back to my start weight, its be rocky but somehow I at least maintain.

I certainly am hoping to meet my goal but if I don't I will still be happy with what I have done and will still be thankful to my Spark Friends.

DON'T QUIT When things go wrong, as they sometimes will, When the road you're trudging seems all up hill, When the funds are low and the debts are high, And you want to smile, but you have to sigh, When care is pressing you down a bit, Rest! if you must; but don't you quit.

What I WILL do to celebrate is have a horrific scar removed on my stomach. I was in a serious car wreck in 2002 and a steering wheel caved into my stomach. Now I have a scar in the shape of a RR track running vertically along my ribcage. Once I lose my weight and inches, and keep them off for 6 months (that’s my SparkPeople goal) -- of course I'll be using SparkPeople as my guide -- I will see a surgeon who can help me feel like the pretty woman who no longer needs to hide.

What I WOULD do to celebrate is to go to Barcelona. I’ve always loved the architecture of Antoni Gaudi, Catalan culture and food, and I’ve always wished I could visit Salvadore Dali’s home as well. In sum, I want to let my creative side soar. I believe that, with my weight and inches gone and all my new energy, I will be able to Vespa around the hills with style – floppy hat in hand, camera slung around my neck, and watercolors in my backpack. They might even make a picture of my journey ... call it: “Former Wallflower Blooms: She’s Now una Seniorita del Mundo!”

I will live now as if I've already reached my goal to the extent of my ability each day. No more waiting to live life until the weight is off.

That said, when I reach my 50 pound goal I will go zip lining in the Smoky Mountains and get personal trainer certification specializing in fitness issues of obese and senior clients to offer modified "not quite ready for bootcamp" classes to engage them in healthy, safe movement. The zip lining will be my victory lap, soaring over the mountaintops. The personal training will pay it forward to free those who feel desperately imprisoned in their bodies as I had begun to feel in the past couple years.

If I had no limits, I would form a band, playing lead guitar and vocals and tour with Bon Jovi, The Killers, Pink Floyd, and Casting Crowns. I would apply my fitness knowledge to produce a workout series for tv and dvd to help obese and seniors get started with circuit training. I would attend acting workshops in L.A. and New York, because, of course, I would need the skills when I co-star in a movie with Johnny Depp!!!

What will I do when I reach my weight loss goal? I will probably take a bike vacation in the US or Canada.

What would I do if I had no limits? I would by a 21 day EurRail pass and see all of Europe.

Unfortunately the RULES for this contest (and all contests held by SP) - state:

Contest is open to legal residents of the 48 contiguous states, Alaska, Hawaii and the District of Columbia, who are 18 years or older at the time of entry. (Were sorry, wed love to include members outside of the United States in the contest, but the legal work involved is too overwhelming wed prefer to spend our resources improving the site!)

So - us foreigners are always excluded!!

I understand the reasons - and I agree its great that the resources are put back into the site - however I feel very hurt by the exclusion too - as its as if we are being told - yes- sure come in and take part - blog and your experiences will help others - but don't come in too far - you are not really part of "the SP family".

I entered this contest and didn't read the rules because I have entered another contest before here at SP as well and by coincidence won. I got the sparkcertificate codes and purchased what I wanted and two weeks after that I had the goods at home at the other side of the world.
So if I were you EMMABE1 just enter and see what happens.

hey everyone,
i just found this site while trying to earn some spark points.

i like the new contest.

WHAT I WILL DO
is take my daughter on a trip to PERU AND MACHU PICCHU. it is supposed to be a very spiritual place. i have gained soooo much weight and can't seem to lose more than 10 points and then gain all of that plus more back. this extra weight keeps me from doing things with my grandchildren and from being active. i have been saving $ for years, hoping to lose the weight, so i can afford to go. and maybe with the turtle club, i can slowly lose the weight and not put it back on.

WHAT WOULD I DO - i really like the idea from the person who wrote that she would volunteer at a fat camp. i am a retired school counselor and would love to volunteer at the schools in my area to help kids slowly lose weight and feel soooo much better about themselves.

this sounds like a great way to get us dreaming, focusing, and setting a vision for our future.

thanks!

What I WILL do to celebrate when I DO reach my goal: By the prettiest body fitting Red Dress to wear on the First Friday of February. I have always wanted a gorgeous red dress to wear on Red Dress Day in February, one that would flatter my new body and feel good about something that I really believe is important.

Take a long lingering look at my reflection & say to myself

Then I'll give my reflection a wink & go happily to my computer & turn cyber cartwheels since my artificial joints don't allow the real ones.

Yet another contest that we foreigners are excluded from!!
OK I can understand that legal issues can cause problems - but maybe we could win Spark points - or maybe we could enter and nominate another Spark friend to get the prize (in USA) - so that - Sparkpeople can claim they sent it to someone in USA!!
Its really hard for us to be excluded - even if we could enter - and if we were to win the prize could go back into your prize drawer - at least we would be part of it!!

What I WILL do to celebrate when I DO reach my goal:

I have actually reached my goal several times since I joined spark about 3 years ago and I am almost always within 5lbs of my ideal weight goal. The toughest part is maintaining this goal weight when I am thrown off my schedule such as moving to another country, changing jobs or taking on new roles. If I could maintain my goal weight for even 2 months, I will write a book on how that could be done.

What I WOULD do to celebrate if I could do anything:
Go on a world cruise with my spark buddies and swap ideas on everything - life, fitness, food choices etc emoticon

I take it one day at a time and one meal at a time.
A minute on the lips a lifetime on the hips!

With God all things are possible.

What I WILL do to celebrate when I DO reach my goal: Become a mother and pass on all the knowlegde aquiered here at SP to my little ones.

What I WOULD do to celebrate if I could do anything: Start a worldwide restaurant chain that offers only healthy food and right portions for everybody to be able to enjoy food without having to think, you already know it is good and you will not overeat yet you would fully enjoy it all.
Besides this I would start a fitness chain that is open 24/7 and is free of charge, because exercising and therefore becoming healthy shouldn't cost anything but your own calories and your outfit.

What I WOULD do to celebrate if I could do anything:
I would love to take a trip to Germany. My husband and I were both in the military and our daughter was born in Germany. She has been there once during an exchange but I would love to go with her and show her the things I saw when we were there. She graduated from Tulane with a major in political science and foreign language. She speaks, reads, writes and understands fluently. It has always been a dream to go back with her. Those were great years in my life with getting married and starting a family. With the shape I am in right now I would not be able to do much so the weight has to go first.

What I WILL do to celebrate when I DO reach my goal:
I will go out and buy a new ward robe. Then I will go visit out of town family because most have only known me when I was heavy. I didn't get to know my fathers side of the family until after I had my child and was already overweight. I would love for them to see me looking like the person I feel like inside. I hope that I will be able to get off the remainder of my medications I have gone from 12 pills a day to 6 and that in itself is a great motivator and reward.

well if I could do anything it would be to get plastic surgery if I need it for stretch marks, how about that for being vain, and well this exercise has helped me think of a vision, and it should be of helping others....so it would be to volunteer at a fat camp to help others either with exercising or tutoring them in something...giving a skill that I have to someone else....and yes, by that time, i'll have a different wardrobe so that I look dainty.

Being such a turtle, (I've had a turtle picture on my sparkpage for quite a while) I won't do anything different for a while, I'll keep turtling along, by that time I'll enjoy the exercising, won't fuss at getting into the exercise time and the food to maintain will be enjoyable. If I do something like go to Hawaii, then when I come back, I'll just flub up.

Judging will be highly subjective, but any and all types of entries are welcome and encouraged, however outrageous or humble. We are trying to identify the three most common motivations, so if your motivations seem common/pedestrian to you, that's good! We're also looking for the most moving/inspiring and I think "settling into a life free of overindulgence, excuses and guilt" is in its own humble way. As far as funniest/most imaginative, imagination is unconstrained by funds, so consider your budget unlimited!

"Every day above ground is a good day." - Me

"Life is too important to take seriously." - A Buddhist monk.

"When you judge "yourself, you break you own heart." - Another Buddhist monk.

Thanks. That helps a lot. Saw a few comments to that effect, but couldn't find anything in the rules for the contest about it.

There are 2 questions:
What WILL you do, and What WOULD you do (if money, disability, etc. were not taken into consideration)?

~*amanda*~

You can do it!
If you don't believe in you who else will?

How will judges decide the winner of this contest? From what I've read in the comments so far I can see versions of: people jumping out of airplanes across the peaks of the Himalayas; riding elephants across the valleys of the Nile; and painting themselves in acrylic before they trek across the Sahara.

I have no such funds and am looking simply into settling into a life free of overindulgence, excuses, and guilt. Not very exciting, and certainly not something to write home about.

So I am not sure if my plans are up to contributing to the conversation.
