One of my goals is to drink a green smoothie daily.
At the beginning, I spent a lot of time fixing them and made a mess.
Each time, I gather everything, like fruits, leafy green, herbs, chia, ginger,etc.; washing fruits and veggies, cut, measure, etc. and then, wrap leftovers, and refrigerate again.
But now, I have some shortcuts I want to share with you.
Preparation in advance
Leafy greens and herbs - I buy 1 leafy green at a time, wash it, dry it, wrap in towels, and put in a plastic bag. I do the same with the herbs.
Other veggies like cucumbers, celery, etc. I wash them and cut them in pieces, then I freeze them in a cookie sheet for about 2 hours, or more if you forget. After that I put them in freezing bags.
I do the same with the fruits: bananas, pineapple, mangoes, apples, etc.
For the avocados (remember that we need fats for the fat-soluble vitamins), puree them with lemon juice and freeze,
So now, I just basically throw items in the blender. The frozen fruits and veggies act as ice cubes.
First, in a 4 cups measure cup, I fill 2 cups of cold water. I put frozen fruits and avocado until the water reaches 3.5 cups. I put the measured fruits and the water in the blender.
Then, I put my leafy greens, herbs and veggies, well packed, in the measure cup until I reach the amount of veggies I'm using, depending on how much of greens's flavor I can stand. I add this to blender.
