I have been on a big soup kick lately. Has anybody made the Slow Cooker Northern Bean and Spinach Soup from this list? I saved it to my recipe box a long time ago, but never got around to trying it.

Have you read Joel Fuhrman's book
Eat Well to Live?
I am reading it right now, and it is very helpful in reversing liver disease.

Today, the new Woman's World, dated January 7 made me think about this discussion. They are featuring soup made from your holiday leftovers to help lose weight. Check it out.

I made the minestrone soup befor and tonight I'm making a borscht soup that I got on low GI board..It has the beets ( so good for the liver ) and two cleansing ingredients , cabbage and Leeks ! I just hope it tastes good , I saw a picture and its beautiful ...
The soup idea is just so easy if you don't have any thing ready to eat, well just heat up the soup and start...I forgot who came up with this idea but I want to send them something cause she's so smart !

Well here is one for the salsify i picked yesterday from the allotment... very creamy but vegan!
and so simple to make, made a batch for tea tomorrow as its going to be a late finish,

I posted it on spark recipes: http://recipes.sparkpeople.com/recipe-deta
il.asp?recipe=2308367

[i dont know how to post links so if it doesnt work let me know]
will making a batch of a bean style soup later in the week - probably easier ingredients to get hold of than salsify!

I made my own navy bean soup. I should have checked for a recipe from Chef Meg first but I think mine is pretty healthy too. Better go enter the ingredients in the recipe calculator before I get too carried away. Often I'll make grilled cheese sandwiches to go with our soup meal. Soup is definitely a hit at my house during chilly weather.

Slow but sure is the way to go.

I love it too, its page 154 of the cookbook..I made it in place of the tomato one because it calls for vine ripened tomatoes. I had most of the stuff on hand , the cook book says to use whatever vegetables you have on hand ... emoticon

It was okay. I didn't bake the potatoes. Instead I boiled them. I also cut it down to make a smaller portion, the size of my large sauce pan. There was enough that we all had more than one bowl. And I had enough to freeze a couple of portions for a future meal. I think the recipe is for a pretty large amount. My husband thought it needed more spice, but our family eats a lot of spicy foods. I thought it was good. Another change I made was putting in carrots instead of the celery. Be sure to put in the white pepper. That gives it a peppery taste.

I made the Baked Potato soup for lunch today. For me, soup is the main course. We had crackers. My family also had sandwiches with their soup. I'm going to focus for the next weeks on having one meal a day that is soup. I'll have fruit and other sides with it.

Okay , can you just go in and save each recipe ? One just has under 200 cals..Sorry for so many questions but do you use your soup as a starter or main coarse ? Thank you so much for the idea emoticon

Love soup. I did the I-Village (Goodhousekeeping) Soup Diet one winter. I really lost weight. You eat soup for one of your meals. The soups are variations of the vegetable soup base with other additions (protein and carb additions). Other meals are as you would normally do or you can follow the meal plans they provide. Loved the diet and making all the soups. I would freeze them to eat later. Some days I would eat soup for more than one of my meals.
