Wow...thanks for all your replies, tips, suggestions and words of encouragement. I'm still just resting/elevating my foot and going to have an x-ray done shortly--but as soon as I am able, I will be do some chair exercises and then moving on to some minor weight bearing exercises. Thanks, again!!

There are many exercises in the chair or on the floor that you can do around your foot. I had foot surgery a year ago and this was critical for not gaining back the weight I had lost.

At first I did alot on a chair but then as I was able to have weight bearing on my foot, I could do many standing exercises including squats, side bends with weights and the best cardio was doing some punching...which you can do sitting or standing. Pilates has many exercises that you can do that do not use your foot or place pressure on it. I also worked with a trainer and we just totally worked around the boot. When I had my surgery and was on crutches with a heavy cast, boy was I happy that I had strong arms!!

Good luck!

emoticon Look up some of the best sitted work out with coach Nicole. I feel your pain, I had just started when I had tendon damage and was off my feet for 7 months. Walking on crutches can be a hard workout in its self. Uses all your core muscles

Today is the frist day of the rest of your life make it count.

It's always good to do weights but you have to do what doctor says. If your suppose to be off your feet. Just do weights sitting down. I know it's hard but doing things your not suppose to do will injure yourself more then take longer to get better. Be patient !!

Hi, anything to get you going is better than nothing and be safe you don't want to injure your foot permanantly. Start with some strength training and eventually you will get your cardio back in there. Hang on!!

You haven't failed until you quit trying!!

I finally made the decision to do a minimum of 30 minutes of cardio and then I broke my toe/foot. The pain is excruciating, but I don't want to miss my goal! Will doing 30 minutes of strength training be just as effective without cardio? Any suggestions?!?
