I was looking at my Streak thing. It is set to track weeks instead of days for this 10 minutes a day group challenge, is this ok to track it by the week instead of day? or is this how to track it for this group since it is broken up into weeks?

I signed up for this team months ago but never made any progress (hubby was diagnosed with cancer and our lives were totally disrupted. Now that he is mending I want to get serious about it. To start over should I just leave the team and rejoin?

Hi I have not gotten week 2 for my challenge and I am getting a YOU HAVEN"T JOINED response and I already completed week 1.. Not sure why .. so I now need week 2 's challenges..

Inches Inches Inches lost are more important to me than pounds... :) well POUNDS ARE STILL IMPORTANT NOT AS MUCH AS INCHES THOSE SHOW THE REAL PROGRESS AND THAT IS A HEALTHIER WAY TO MAINTAIN YOUR WEIGHT!!

I'm getting about 400 calories a week from walking 15 minutes a day, 5 days a week. Is this amount considered okay, or am I not doing enough?

Hey Madhu! I'm now in Week 4 (or so I thought). Now if I didn't complete some of the action steps (like posting) due to .. well drrrr on my part and not reading directions completely ... but I have done the 10 minute activity each day for past 3 weeks, is it okay to backtrack post now or should I leave the team rejoin and start challenge over? I want to do this right. Thanks!

You may have started tracking/recording your streak on the streaks a day after you started working out...hence the 4-day streak in the beginning. My advice, leave the team & rejoin it.

@TMCWASHERE: For the challenge and to received the trophy you have to do 2 things:
1] Do at least 10mins of aerobic activity for 5 out of 7 days of the week, for 4 continuous weeks and track it in your goals. If you have exercised while you have been away, you can track the same in your "other goals".

2] Complete the weekly action steps and check the box at the end of each week on the SparkTeam page - you can do this

If you have accomplished the above 2 steps for past 4 weeks, you will receive a trophy for having completed the challenge.

If the above does not work, leave the team and re-join the team. You can start over new for next 4 weeks. You will receive an email from the team every week detailing your action steps. If you do not receive the email due to technical issues, you can click on that week's action link from the team page to follow through for the challenge.

STR458 - I just found a post by SP_COACH_DENISE saying that they are a new sort of trophy that you get when you pass certain milestones on the Mileage tracker. So, if you have the mileage tracker turned on and start using it to track how far you're walking, it should automatically give you the trophies when you reach those goals.

AUBREY9009 - For my streak, I have to actually go in and check a box in order for it to count. It doesn't keep track of it for me. So, if that's the case, I would go to Other Goals and check every day that you did work out and it should update your streak. I hope that helps. If it's something else, let me know please.

I have been consistently exercising for at least 10 minutes a day since starting on SP but my streak tracker says I've only had a 4 day streak! That's sad :[ I guess I cannot use this team goal in order to track a 10 minute exercise streak. Boo. Has anyone else had this problem?

@BINKLEY621: You keep going by modifying your workout to your injury e.g. if you have sprained your ankle, focus on upper body workouts. If you have carpal tunnel syndrome, look up exercises that will help in alleviating your condition.

How do you motivate yourself to keep going when every time you start an exercise program you injure yourself: Sprained foot, carpal tunnel, stiff neck. Exercise program? Beginning palate-10 min.

I only have 2 days left of my free week of sparkcoach. I thought that I read somewhere that it's free but if you want access to more stuff (mainly to email a coach) you could purchase a subscription. But I have also seen on a message board that to continue to use spark coach you have to purchase a subscription. Which is it?

Also, I REALLY enjoyed today's video on weight loss 101 from Nicole. Do I have to be a member of spark coach in order to see that video, or do I have access to all videos since I use spark people?

Please advise.

I have been doing my 10 mins exercises every day but have had someone in my immediate family sick in hospital plus we also have had a really bad storm 2 nights ago and have not had any power or phone connection for 2 days this is the first time I have been able to get on. I have done Saturday, Sunday and Monday and Tuesday so far 10 mins each day on the Elliptical machine will be adding these into my fitness tracker in a moment.

Just wanted to let you know. I may not be able to be on here for very long as I will have to go up to the hospital again soon. but will be on again tomorrow.

I'm confused about where my minutes are being tracked. I have been faithfully recording all of my time on the fitness tracker, but when I took a look at "streaks" (I've never been there before) it showed zero time for this challenge? Where would it show up to record that?

Without realizing there was an official challenge, I started my own 30 day 10 minute minimum fitness challenge almost a month ago. I am on day 29, but just joined here officially. Should I count my time and jump right to week 4?

I don't want to cheat the challenge, but I read The Spark as well, and I've done all the action steps along the way. What do the experts here think?

I am new at this also but I track my exercise by going to the top of the page and clicking on my trackers, my fitness and then you can log your daily routines. I also go to My trackers, other goals and then there is a tool bar with the days of the week and I check the box if I met my goals for the day. I hope this helps! - Melinda

Today when I visited my Mom in the hospital I had to park in the lot farther from the hospital entrance. The 10 minute walk was not planned, but I needed the exercise and I'll continue to take this walk.

When I checked my streaks I noticed my weekly goal was not checked as met automatically.(even though it has checked off the last 8/8 days 100%) I am trying a different way of tracking this week to see if I will get credit on the streak page. Today I was at work for more than 12 hrs and the only thing I had time for was a quick 10 min walk to get something from my car and buy lunch. Does that count for this challenge? I really don't want to break my streak, but I just didn't have the time to do more today. I had hoped to go to the gym in the morning but it didn't happen.

Believe me, exercise is my Achilles heel too. I just have to make myself do it and most days I do. I'm hoping that with time and consistency it will become a habit. I must admit, though, that I feel so much better when I do exercise that it makes it easier.

I really didn't do official exercise yesterday. Walked in and out of stores for about 5 hours so counted that as my physical fitness for the day. Was tired and achy when I got home so didn't want to do anything else.

Today was great. Did 33 min, and over 6 miles on the elliptical and then some water jogging afterwards for about 20-30 minutes.

Did a lot of walking yesterday. Downfall was a pizza in the evening -- a surprise from DH.
It didn't do me any good,but it was really good.

Spunky, thanks for your encouragement. I did find some seated chair exercises on the Spark page and also another member (apologies but her name escapes me at the moment) She sent me a list of Chair Zumba exercises that were on YouTube. These are great for "at home" workouts and fun too. So, now I just need to get my fanny down to the gym on a consistent basis so that's my next goal. I did do a 10-minute video on SP yesterday. Imagine seated cardio with Coach Nicole....Guarantee you're gonna get more than you expected! Haha

Yesterday walked 9 holes of golf with by DH...course down in a valley and lots of UPS and downs...beautiful though. Then I did 30 min of elliptical (6 miles and almost 250 cal.) so it was a great day for exercise.

I can't say the same for the day before. Had to spend hours at my computer with work. Frustrated and rushed for time (had my grandson's first HS choir performance), I didn't get any exercise time in. Wonderful recital however. It was so great to see teenagers in tuxes and gowns making such beautiful music.

Yesterday I had a painter in to do the portions of 3 areas where I could not reach. I had done the halls and the living room, but only as far as my 8-foot ladder enabled me to reach. Some areas I couldn't reach about 8 inches, other areas more than 2 or 3 feet. So it was a knit- picking job for him, bless his heart. I had to empty bookcases and a large chest (armoire) and then when they were moved into their new spots -- refilling both. Whew! Lots of steps, more than I realized until I checked my pedometer. All that exercise showed up at weigh-in time this morning -- I am again a happy camper.

Right -- it wasn't 10 minutes,more like 2 hours!!

Spunky, Thanks for your advice and support.

I feel better today and, as always, will remember I can only move forward one step at a time. I will be on the lookout for home exercises to conintue strengthening my back muscles. Yesterday was sort of bad because I couldn't even stand straight when I left the gym after a minimal workout. This is the early stages of dealing with this so I don't know yet what is the right amount of exercise and what is too much. I'm hoping that the way I felt was from not enough exercise on a regular(emphazized) basis. Anyway, thank you very much for your note and I wish you well on your journey also. ==Gayle
