FRENCHSEAMS, I missed your post earlier. I'm moving whenever my house sells. In this market, that could be a long time.

WCLOVEIT, cold makes me gain weight. Every year, at the first cold snap, the first time I actually get a chill in the fall, it prompts a feeding frenzy for about a week during which I must eat 3500 calories a day. I'll gain 2 to 5 pounds, literally in a week - I call it my blubber coat - and then I quite literally am warm all winter. Then in spring, when it starts to warm up, I go through a similar period where my appetite just vanishes, and the winter weight melts off, and then I'm steady again. What's really weird about it is that my body did exactly the same thing when I was 30 pounds heavier that it does now - you'd think then I already had the blubber coat, but it's like some of my fat is my body's way of storing energy, and some of it is my body just putting on a parka. ???

Anyway, I'm off to do housework and run errands. My nephew is coming to visit me for five days and he arrives tomorrow morning. I can't wait!

Happy Easter and Happy Patriot's Day to those of you who celebrate those holidays.

-Rebecca

Thank you for your reply GrebJack. I am very stagnant all winter long. I live in Canada, and hate the cold. I go out but rarely do anything but in and out of places. I'm very much like a flower. Spring comes and I bloom. I love to hike on the Bruce Trail, with Hubby and dogs, and I cycle. Cycling has always been a passion, so to me its not exercise its something I love to do, but saying that, I can do 10-15 km without even thinking about it. Now I'm getting older, so I'll have to see what my stamina is this year. Now the down side, food. Over the lips, onto the hips. For years I just didn't eat durning the day. I wasn't really trying to starve myself, just was too busy, and not hungry. I'd eat a meal at night, and my munchies wouldn't bother my weight at all. Now tracking, breakfast, lunch and dinner, no calories left for snacking in the evening. I also find that the top end of what is being recommended on the spark page for calories is very high. 1550 calories in a day. I have always stayed around 1200, even when I was maintaining. I'm lost, discouraged. Got on the scales this morning. and I'm up 15 pounds from when I quit smoking. Grrrrrrrrrrrr tomorrow the weather is improving a bit, temps are going back up, hopefully we can at least get out and walk, and if there is no wind I can do some km on my bike. Thanks for listening. emoticon

No starving for you, WCLOVEIT! Time to be good to your body instead of torturing it into submission. Your body has learned to be very efficient because it doesn't want you to starve to death - because your body loves you!

So are you tracking what you're eating? Are you gaining weight 'cause you're eating too many calories even though they're in healthy foods (that's what I did at first - i couldn't believe how many calories I could get from carrots and hummus!)? Are you gaining weight 'cause you're holding water? I find that I hold water when I eat more salty foods (and shortly before my period), so I can gain two pounds overnight after eating something like potato chips, but I can lose it two days later if I ease up on the salt. Maybe something like that going on for you? Last thing that was a big a-ha for me: don't deny yourself foods you love - then you spend all your time thinking about what you can't have. What are the things you love that are nutrient dense? Stock up! I ate a whole quart of blackberries this morning. Expensive, but DELICIOUS.

Good luck! There are people on here cheering for you.

I'm new and I'm struggling. Sewing helps, but I'm going up. My mind isn't helping either. Thinking so hard at my age. I'm fairly active. I find 8 water is too much for me, not because I can't drink it, I can I can drink 12. But even in previous attempts after 6 I started to hold the water. I'm trying to eat healthy, but weight has been a life long battle, and I always starved myself, to loose it, a habit very hard to let go of. I'd like to do it right this time, but after a week finding I'm up on my scales 4 pounds and up on the doctors scales 10 pounds I'm about ready to go back to starve mode. Boy sure could use support. emoticon emoticon

Hi, FRENCHSEAMS - love all your posts to the team. I am trying to sell the house. As soon as it sells, I move. Right now, I have a piece of red Irish linen calling to me that it wants to be a sundress.

Post pictures when you finish projects, everyone - it's fun to see what people are doing!

Hi LADYMACK24! I'm working on some pajamas too right now. They are for my cousin and I'm going to make her dogs matching tops too.

I'm just getting back into sewing after a very long time. For myself I"m making Vogue 1236

in a light weight linen. Hopefully this will get me through the summer.

It's hard to sew while wanting to lose weight.

Who are the pajamas for?

I will be moving soon, and one of my goals before moving is to sew out a bunch of my fabric stash. I reached my goal weight three years ago and still haven't replaced all the old clothes that don't fit.

Hi SABRINAT, nice to meet you and congrats on the 20 loss. That must feel good.

uggg, moving, I love it and hate it. It does take some thought (and time) to get reorganized doesn't it. I wish you luck.

What sort of things do you like sewing?

Some progress. I have a workable sewing room again! I removed the gigantic dining room table that I though might work in there for a smaller table and now it feels just right.

Now, do I start something new or do I my unfinished projects?

Tonight I will tidy up my sewing room and pick out a first project to sew. My goal is to have a small capsule of clothes to get me through my weight loss. I have fabric and I'm short of clothes. Having fabric is not the same as having clothes even if it seems so in my mind.

Anyone else have a mentality like mine?

I'm really struggling to stay on track. I'm thinking I need have a more hands personalized approach. Anyone doing weight watchers? I'm going to my first meeting this morning.
