Hey all,

Maryanne, I do hope that your niece has found "the dress". That is so exciting. What fun.

Jen, we will all rejoice with you when you have found yourself a warmer job.

Back to work for me today. I am anxious to get back to my regular routine and schedule. I have had more than enough time off here. I still have a lingering cough but, it's so much better than it was. I actually slept for 5 whole hours last night before the cat woke me up this morning!!!

I am also anxious to get back to working out. Not going to do it today b/c I don't want to wear myself out before work and then not be able to make it through the shift for my first night back. We'll see how I feel tomorrow. I don't need to do the full scale workouts to begin with. I can start back up slowly until I feel my strength coming back. I am looking forward to it.

I hope you all have a great day. Will talk to you all later.

Thanks. I'm thinking of it as a temporary situation. I don't want to work this forever.

Evening all,

What a fantastic day I had today. Met up with my sister-in-law and my 2 nieces and we went dress shopping for the older girl. She is getting married on 10/18 and has been to a few places with no luck. Welllllllllllllllllllllll all I can say is that after seeing X amount of dresses on her she came out and we all just gasped. She looked just gorgeous! I thought OMG this IS the dress. She was in it for at least 15 plus minutes and you could tell she didn't want to take it off. BUT, she would not commit. She tried on 2 or 3 more and then I suggested she put 'the' dress back on and she did and you could see the smile on her face. She said it just felt so romantic................ when we left the salon I heard her say to the woman that she would probably be calling her next week. BUT, as soon as we got back in the car we all looked at her and she said ok ok, I'm saying yes to the dress!!!! :) :) :) She looked like an angel.....

Dawn, glad you are feeling a little better........just don't go into work and wear yourself out!

Jen - that's just totally insane that you have to work in conditions like that!

Everyone else - helllllllllo - hope you are all doing well.

Maryanne

Hi gang!
After a few days away from all of you, I only just caught up on a few things. I have been struggling, and instead of checking in, just logged foods for my days. My phone is telling me that it is 35* but my cold hands beg to differ!

Dawn, I pray you recover, completely and don't over do to much!
Laura, hoping you get an enjoyable vacation

to the rest o you? You are in my thoughts and prayers!!

Hey all,

I'm not too good at this recuperating thing. Yes, I do plan on being at work tomorrow. It's no good trying to sit at home and get better. I'll be well enough by tomorrow to put in 8 hrs. I kept myself busy all day yesterday with just a few breaks here and there and I did pretty good.

Laura, kudos to you for having some down time to yourself. And, good for you asking the kids to pitch in a little with the meals. Do they even realize how good they have it there? Glad to hear that Linus is feeling better. Is he going to be ok while you and Colie are away? I know he's Ross' dog but you're the one that takes him to the vet every time he gets sick. Do you worry about him?

Joanne, as busy as you are, it's good that you check in as often as you do.

Well, I have a just a FEW things to get done today. That's an understatement.

You all have a great day.

Rose- I am in the wrong part of the state to be going to South Shore for a swim! Haha. Thanks anyway!! I am on the other side of the Quabbin to give you a point of reference.

I woke up around 3am and crawled out of bed around 4am. It's going to be a LONG day.

Good for you Laura asking your "boarders" what they are cooking! I let Abby try to make supper last night. She made food for herself, but not enough for me so I made my own. Then we shared dessert that she made. Mostly pizza dough with fluff. Oh well. Gotta start somewhere I guess.

Not much on tap for the weekend except a trip to Home Depot tomorrow (first Saturday of the month!). Hubby stopped in earlier this week to try to find wood for deck steps but couldn't find what he needed. Going to try a different location tomorrow and see if we have better luck.

Long day for me

Got Linus up early and to the spa -went to breakfast by myself and enjoyed reading the newspaper and catching up on things while at breakfast, got my Euros for our trip too!

Picked Linus up and the Ross from work and off to my clients HAPPY to say it was a quick fix to get the internet up and running

Came home and COOKED dinner - asked our "boarders" WHAT are you cooking tomorrow night?

Spa visit in the AM, taking myself to lunch and then getting my hair cut.

Colie got his eyes tested last night and it was good thing the doctor found a calcification on his eyelid that was scratching his eye and fixed it. he got new eyeglasses OUCH but we got insurance and the person told us in 6 months come in and say I want a pair of new glasses on my insurance and that way he will have too

I visited SOMA last night - the intimate store and they are owned by Chico's so I got my 5% discount too

Have a nice day tomorrow

Oh MY! A lot happens in 4 days! I can't even believe it's been that long since I posted last, but I guess it has! Tomorrow I will try to catch up on individuals, too tired tonight lol I will note that I will most likely be fairly silent during the weeks, but will somewhat catch up on weekends.

I see there are a couple newbies, WELCOME!

Being back to work and school is a little more tiring than I expected it to be, but I love it! This semester is going great so far. I know it's just the beginning, but that's ok. I LOVE my Astronomy teacher. I knew him before the class, but getting to know him better now is awesome. We have SO much in common and he's wicked laid back. Art teacher is kind of a ditz, but that's to be expected lol

I've been doing well with food, but have totally slacked with the exercise. Tomorrow is my day off, so I plan to go get gross and sweaty :) Hopefully it pays off on the scale this weekend lol

Well I'm off to get kids to do what they have to do. Have a day!

Hi DSGUILHU

it's Rose - hope your feeling better very soon - sleep as much as you can but i suppose with chickens and husbands that is not always possible - did you say going back to work on sat - you mean 2 sat's from now don't you? don't push yourself.

Mae-Mae - I love your name because that is my sister's name - her real name is Mary but when I phone her i always say - yo Mae-Mae it's ro-ro - let's keep those cutsey family names to ourselves shall we? So happy to read your last post - you go girl.

Rebecca - You know that pool at the hospital i spoke about - well it is the same one that Dawn mentioned. If your are interested in one of their aquatic programs call out-pt rehab and find out what they offer or maybe they are on line under south shore hospital.org

Everyone - Be patient with yourself. Take it one meal at a time - one day at a time.

Jen,

That is miserable. I can't imagine how you must dread going to work. It sounds like they don't give any consideration to the workers at all. Just HOW cool does this equipment "need" to be kept? It sounds like they are over doing it a little. Will be praying for you to find a different job doing something warmer....not too warm just comfortable.

I work in an alarm company, the say it needs to be cold for the equipment. But its crazy. I literally wear, 2 pairs of socks, 2 pairs of pants, 2 shirts, 2 sweatshirts. a blanket, and sometimes my fingerless gloves. I'm job hunting.

Hey all,

Thanks for the well wishes. I do feel a tiny bit better today even though I'm still coughing a lot. I got some sleep and that makes a big difference for me. Just going to stay hunkered in and putter around the house today. I don't have to be back to work til Sat so, that should give me some time to get over this.

Rebecca, I hope you and your family are feeling better...and warmer. Hey, you may not be able to dive but, you can swim and that's good. Kids are like little tadpoles once they get the hang of it. I hope we can teach Simon very young. Kate's mom has a pool and I've been trying to talk my husband into one for years. Maybe teaching Simon to swim will be incentive enough. Oh, I meant to tell you, South Shore Hospital has a pool as well. It's funny, I never gave a thought to it before but, now that you mention it, you're right, not too many hospitals actually have pools. The pool at South Shore is used for the physical therapy pts as well as the cardiac rehab pts.

Maryanne, good job on the shoe deals. You're getting all set up to get right back to work. I'm so, so relieved you weren't out of a job for long. Are you nervous about starting a new job after having been at the other one for so long? I'm sure it must be a tad bit intimidating.

Jen, what kind of work do you do that you are sooo cold all of the time. That sounds really horrible. I'm sure it helps you burn a lot of calories but, you must DREAM about being warm.

Well, going to get going here. Just need to get some laundry done and take care of my animals. Going to let the chickens out of their run for a bit today. The sun is out, they'll enjoy it.

Hope you all have a great day.

Dawn- Oh my! You poor thing! Maybe when you feel better you can get the pneumonia shot.

Maryanne- Yay for the job!!! Congratulations! Sounds like they are setting you up to start on the Tuesday after the holiday if I am reading that right. I started that day at Umass 11 years ago. Not at my current job, but... anyway, way to go!!! I am so glad you didn't have to stay unemployed long. Have fun with the girls too!!!

I am not a great swimmer myself, for all of you talking about swimming. I absolutely CAN NOT dive. That held me back when I was a kid doing lessons until finally my parents just gave up on me. My husband on the other hand was once lifeguard-certified but now has a very, very hard time with pools due to lung issues and chlorine. Abby discovered the joy of swimming underwater last summer and I think she will do well this summer when she does lessons at camp again. I am hoping to get a membership for an outdoor pool this summer. It is pricey, but I think we will use it if the weather cooperates, even though we have the lake right next to us.

Morning all,

Dawn - UGH UGH UGH - I guess it's true that nurses make the worst patients and continually try to push themselves when they should be resting! I DEMAND that you take your meds and get lots of rest! Pnuemonia is no laughing matter - I had it years ago and was totally miserable with that coughing you are talking about.

Laura - yeah, looking forward to seeing you/Colie and Dad next week as well but I have to confess I'm more excited about meeting Linus than anything. :)

Rose - I live in Dedham and the job is in downtown Boston. It's a little bit of a commute but since my previous job was in Copley Square I'm used to the commute. I totally agree with you about the carbs. I do use SP nutritional tracker but find that the higher carbs don't work for me.

Jen - based on your previous comments about always being numb with cold at your job I agree - you need a new one. What type of work do you do? Hopefully you can find something good (and warm).

Rebecca - SERIOUSLY on the Oil??? I would have been crazy if they didn't show up and UGH of all times when both you and your hubby are feeling crappy......... Well I'm glad all is settled now and hopefully you will both start feeling better soon.

Jo-Ann - I'm a very poor swimmer but I think water aerobics would be great! I did it once or twice when I was in CA visiting a friend and enjoyed it. Hmmmm, wonder if they offer it around here. I think I may check that out!

Went shopping yesterday and am now all set to re-enter the work force. I picked up some slacks and 2 tops and another pair of shoes. Have to say..........got a great deal on shoes at Sears. I got 2 pairs of low heeled suede pumps (one black and one chocolate) and they were only 14.99. Also got a pair of black patent leather with this little grey/black check trim on the edge and toe for same price. I can wear those with my gray slacks and black top and will look simply adorable! ha ha ha ha ha. Talked to HR yesterday and he said let's set 2/18 as your start date. They just have to get me the offer (in writing) and do the background check. Hopefully it won't come out that that time in 1977 when the police chased us away from the playgrounds for drinking in public!!

Exciting fun news here - my two nieces are coming to town (CT and DC) and tomorrow we are going to look at wedding dresses for the older girl Caroline. I am beyond thrilled that I secured the job because I plan to help my niece pay for her gown as a gift to her. Can't wait to see them and I told my sister in law we have to all go to lunch afterwards to celebrate! Of course we all have to eat lettuce because the wedding is in 9 months!

Ok, need to get rolling here. Want to do my walking dvd and then laundry and organizing!

Have a fabulous day everyone. Stay warm!

Maryanne

Ok, Back from all the hustle and bustle. Diagnosis? Pnuemonia. The NP took one listen to my lungs, said "oh Jesus" and went to get me a neb treatment. Now, having been on the other end of things, I realized just how bad my lungs must have sounded. But, true to form, I didn't want to self diagnose or behave like a hypochondriac so I waited to go in and it really was as bad as I thought it was. I haven't heard what the chest xray results were but, my MD will probably call me with that. Right now, I have an inhaler, steroids and flonase. They are waiting for the xray result before they start me on an antibiotic.

So, that's the update. Now I can stop berating myself for being a wimp. I'm not a wimp, just really sick. Starting the year off with a bang, I see.

Hey all,

I have to make this really short as I am going to the doctor's today at the urgent care clinic. No fever but I have this incessant cough that is keeping me up. It's been almost a week now so, it's time to do SOMETHING. I did try to go to work yesterday b/c I didn't have a fever but, they sent me home after 4 hrs b/c I just couldn't stop coughing. The respiratory therapist was going to come by and give me a neb treatment but, I left before she could do it. To say I am miserable right now is like saying there's a little water at Niagra Falls!!!

Laura, I do hope your headache is better and that your dad behaves and poor Linus gets better. Goodness, it's like the family circus over there!

Maryanne, I am sooooo happy for you. Sooo excited. I was hoping and praying that the Partner's position would work out for you and I'm glad it did. So, so happy.

Welcome to the new people. Calor---something, what can we call you for short? That's a long name to type in.

Rebecca, so glad you got your oil. Gosh, could they have picked a worse time to get a good case of stupid going on in their heads? What is wrong with them? A customer calls and NEEDS oil then they NEED to get out there. I would definitely be looking to switch things up when the weather is warmer. I would get some recommendations from people who have other oil companies first.

Ok, gotta try to look human for this appointment. I'll talk to you all later.

Congratulations - I am so happy for you - yes things are happening for you this year. Will you have far to travel to your new worksite? Hope Not.

Rebeccama

You did the math correctly re the oil bill - I had 150 gallons delivered and the bill was $600.00
I am on a monthly payment plan but that amount may be increased because we are all using more fuel because of this horrible weather. A friend of mine told me about a friend of hers who lives in Georgia - it took her 2 hours to move 2 blocks because of all the ice on the road and no sort of treatment available, so she left her car in a parking lot and walked home - one mile - on ice.

And I end this on a "you should have known better" note. I said I would only weigh myself 1x weekly, well I broke that pledge today and I have not lost anything. I record my eating on the spark people nutrition pages and they recommend 170-245 of carbs - and I am finding that is too much - I am not going to lose weight until I bring my carbs under 120. I need to increase my protein as well. Do any of you use this site - I really like it - at the end of the day you can see how well or not so well that you did - i am pretty good except for the carbs - well I do love pasta.

I like what you say Mae-Mae - Nothing tastes as good as thin feels That is my new mantra.

Keep on losing everyone.

Rose

THEY MADE THE OFFER!!!!!!!

The benefit package alone would almost make me accept it but the salary is the icing on the cake! The salary is the same as my previous salary PLUS my bonus I was getting!!!! I have until noon tomorrow to accept and just want to review a few more details and then I will send a note saying YES. Then they do a background check and it looks like I could be starting (if all goes well) on 2/20!

Rose- that is awesome! I have never seen a hospital with a pool before. The hospitals here refer people to the YMCA or another place if they need water aerobics for therapy etc.

Maryanne- Whoohoo!! Just a few minutes until you are rocking that 8:30am thing! Hope it is the best!!

Laura- As usual I can't keep up with you.

Yes, we got oil yesterday. I think they delivered over 100 gallons. I'm not really good at deciphering the little slip they sent. I need to check my credit card account and see if they charged my card that they have on file or if I need to send them a check. Was over $400 worth so they definitely will be getting some money from me.

Hubby and I were both feeling pretty miserable yesterday but we keep plodding along.

I decided that swimming was a learnable skill, so I'd give it my best shot. I may not be truly awesome at it, but I became "good enough". There's plenty of room for improvement, so I'm still working on it!

Your new Y may also offer some different types of water aerobics programming you may enjoy.
Many Ys put their course offerings online now, so you can check it out without making a trip.

Good luck, Rose!

YMCA

I never thought of that - will have to enquire as the city near me just opened a brand new YMCA.

Don't know why I never thought about learning how to swim - my friend in Portland, Maine has back problems and she swims 4 days a week to ease her pain.

Thanks for the info.

Good luck on your weight loss journey.

Rose

Yay for water aerobics, HISOWN1! (I'm a water aerobics instructor, love it!)
I know swimming isn't everyone's cup of tea, but have you ever considered learning to swim? I thought I hated it, but ran out of options on land and started lessons at the age of 53, and now I swim every day. Most YMCAs have really great adult beginner classes--you could be swimming before summer if you start lessons this session. Just sayin'...

Rebeccama -

Yes, the hospital has a huge heated pool - they have a good out patient rehab center and have all kinds of pool programs for people with many health issues. I am healthy except for arthritis and too much weight. Many people who come here are recovering from injuries and/or knee and back operations, etc.

Yes, I am so lucky to have this opportunity so close to home. I have to pay $7.00 session and it is well worth it.

Stay healthy and warm.

I can't swim. I do water areobics for 1 hour 1x per week to help with my arthritis it is good for muscle strengthing and toning. The 92 degree water feels like Florida during this weather.

It burns 391 calories.

Have a great day.

Like Maryanne - not a fitful night's sleep. I feel asleep in my recliner about 11:15 and went to bed at midnight. I have gotten into the habit of brushing my teeth earlier and getting them flossed etc so I can use the special M1 paste on them anytime before I go to bed. That paste should be on for 30 minutes or longer. If I go to bed with it on sometimes I am nauseous in the AM because of the heavy fluoride it has.

ANYHOW Ross had to be in work at 5 AM. I heard movement upstairs and then of course Linus slept up in the "Dog Cave" or the spare room and he was up with Ross and Christina up and so with them moving around here he comes at 4 isn with his nose in my face and paw on my pillow. I went to lift my head and had such a pounding headache I almost threw up!! Laid my head down and told Linus go "uppy up" which means go to the couch. He did THANK GOD. Laid my head down gently - Colie was up at 5ish and I woke up and tried to move my head and was so sick - I went in to get two tylenol and he said OH NO one of those headaches and I said YUP - guess just looking at me told it all!!!

Dad had a cardio appointment today to review his tests and I knew I was in NO SHAPE as was by 8:15 to go - I was barely moving (and with all this I needed to take care of the dog too) so I called my younger sister and said your voice sounds awful you OK and I said NO can you get Dad to his appointment and she said yes. So then I go tell Dad and he is TICKED because I am not going and does not want anyone else and I told him FLAT OUT - YOU HAVE NO CHOICE! You do not give all the right information and we need to know what they think is going on with this little A-Fib issue that is usually NOT an issue and you will get the results of the echocardiogram etc SO SHE IS GOING - I am NOT well and I am staying in my jammies and NOT DOING anything - I do not care about emptying the dishwasher - the dishes in the sink NOTHING - so he reluctantly agreed

I called Colie who will read the riot act to the kids about the dog poop barrel not being changed out - today is garbage day and I did that in my robe as bad as I felt in -10 degrees!

Colie is happy I am not doing anything - the headache has subsides somewhat - I think it is a combo of muscle tension and sinus! LOVELY NOT!!!

Made myself a nice bowl of hot freshly cooked oatmeal and a vanilla latte and my Dad sat in my kitchen and had a hot cup of coffee!

Linus has only been on the probiotic ONCE and the beef and rice one meal and his stools were back to normal! So I called the Vet's office spoke with one of the secretaries and she said wait I will ask the doctor your question. I figured if he is returning to normal WITHOUT the antibiotic WHY give it to him and just see how we do with the probiotic and beef/rice diet for 3 days. Long term on this antibiotic or constant use can have some nasty side effects so I would prefer to see if we can do this naturally. So the Vet came back on the phone and said I AGREE - you are very smart to ask that ???! Linus had his rice/beef and has been beyond playful with a very tired Nanny. He wants to go out for a walk and I NOT getting out of my jammies!!!

I am not surprised either to see my post radiation field trying to break out in hives - too much stress is usually what starts that so I used my steroid cream for that. NOT going to my meeting tonight and will send my treasurer's report in

I NEED TO TAKE CARE OF ME!!!

Had to laugh when my sister texted me and said Dad was very impatient and champing at the bit because it was 10 minutes past his appointment time and he did not get called- my reply WELCOME TO MY WORLD!!!!

Tomorrow the house keepers come so that is all that is on the schedule I am NOT going to my client's house to work on the internet - Linus has a spa appointment on Thursday at 9 AM and that is all I am planning for the next couple of days!!! Massage for me on Friday - obviously I need it. Going to take one of the new muscle relaxers tonight I am trying 1/2 a pill - worked the other night and I did not feel so exhausted from it so maybe this is what I need

OK I am done and DONE IN

have a great day all AND STAY WARM!!!

Rose- the HOSPITAL has a pool???? wow!!!

Maryanne- My gut was telling me from the start that the CVS job was not for you. Good for you for walking away from it.

Laura- Crazy! You pay for the lady and then forget your own wallet! Sounds like something that would happen to me. Hope Linus feels better.

Oil company did not come yesterday. I called. They had nothing in their system about my call on Sunday. No ticket or anything. Lady on the phone says "You are not due for a delivery until March." I told her "I do not go crawling around in the basement. If my husband says bring oil, then your job is to bring it. Right?" She said they would come today. If we don't need much, then great. Peace of mind. This is the same oil company that I battled with a couple months ago. I did not bother to switch since we are in "crisis mode" basically.

I did really well on my calories yesterday. Staying away from desserts at night and not eating much at all. I will make it happen this year. I will!

Yawn..........good morning everyone. I have been up and down since 2:30 am due to back issues and finally gave up and got up at 4:45. It's going to be a very long day. I must have twisted it somehow when I was sleeping on Sunday night and it's been downhill since. So today it will be ibprofrin all day long and hopefully things will improve.

Laura - oh wow what a day you had! Poor Linus.......so sorry he's sick again. poor little guy just can't cut a break. I can't believe what happened at BJ's and so glad you got your wallet back AND can redeem your coupons. What a nice experience especially after hearing about your wallet. How exciting about Ireland! Now there's something for you to look forward to......a wonderful trip to just relax which you desperately need!!!!!

Sue - so glad you managed to get a day off and even better that you did not answer any calls or text's. Good for you!

Not much planned here today. Just feeling miserable with the back so I'm going to putz around and maybe try to get the bathroom closet cleaned out. It's actually better if I'm not sitting so hopefully I can manage to get some organizing done.

Have a good day all. Stay warm because it's coooooooooooold outside.

Maryanne

WILD DAY here

Linus is REALLY sick again was not sure before I left to go to my client's but Ross called to let me know before I left my clients. Took her to the mall today and she got a new watch, we poked, she insisted on paying for my lunch and I think I tired her out with all the walking but she enjoyed it

Checked the computer at the house - I need the instructions to get the internet up and the daughter is sending them to me - modem is working, but I could not get on to any web surf engine

Dad has an appointment with the cardiologist tomorrow and I will go

Linus is getting the probiotics and has started rice and beef for three days - Vet had medication refilled and I saw her when we picked it up - poor dog does NOT stand a chance one thing causes another BUT there is a doggy bug too

I have a deacon's meeting tomorrow night

Went to BJ's in the middle of the chaos and was just about home from shopping - I had left my coupons home because I was planning on doing it tonight with Colie - ended up staying WAY LATE with the client and Colie said he was late coming home from work and I went. The lady in front of me did not have her wallet and had a small child and was missing some $$ from her gift card to pay - it was not much at all and I handed the change over to the cashier and the woman said I will come right back and I told her JUST PAY IT FORWARD.

Packed up the car and left when Ross called and said YOUR WALLET is at BJ's - my heart dropped - drove back to get the wallet and the young kid said YOU are having a wild day and he said tomorrow when you are in the area bring me all your coupons and receipt I will give you the credit - my coupons totaled over $20!! So I will do that before my deacon meeting

Just a wild day and NOW I am trying to set up times with all my teen volunteers to go over what they are planning for our Winter Bible Camp

PJEW PHEW PHEW

YES Winter Bible Camp Feb 18-21 and we head to Ireland February 23!!

Afternoon all,

CVS interview was a bust. I had my suspicions on this job and they were confirmed while I was there. 5 people scheduled to interview me...........2 didn't bother showing up and the 3 I did meet with all asked the same question. Do I have an issue working long hours and weekends. SERIOUSLY??? So not what I plan to sign up for! Job is way too demanding and the location was not where I was led to believe.........it's actually about 10 minutes from my RI office so quite frankly, if I was going to drive there, I'd have stuck with my old job. At least I would know the evil I had to face. So I'm scratching this job off my list.

Now I just need to pray that Partners does contact me very soon with an offer. That has definitely moved into the #1 spot for what I want.............

Good morning all....It almost feels tropical outside, LOL!

I single handedly ruined my 2 days off together w/fiancé. It was nice we spent yesterday together. But work called me this morning to see if I could work tonight. I sure need the money, but I'm working almost my entire shift 5pm-11pm. BOO

I want to run all the races!

Monday morning - a new beginning.

Sometimes I need to focus on parts of the day - ok - breakfast - eaten healthy and satisfying and now thinking of good lunch choices.

Going to the local hospital to use their pool today for water aerobics - one hour and according to the fitness site this uses 391 calories. Now I need to do something for the other 6 days - too snowy and cold to walk outside Will have to hit the mall.

I enjoy reading these daily chat messages from all of you - I am new and we are all in this together.

Have a good day everyone.

Oil company never showed up yesterday. If they do not come today I will be making another call to them.

Laura, I am guessing that Ireland trip is at the end of February. I think Winter Camp must be around Feb 17th week, so your trip is after that. Right?

Maryanne- Good luck with the interview!

I see new members signing up. Sometimes I do not know if they are real or not. Welcome to any/all new members here! Please chime in any time!

Good Morning, Happy Monday..............

Dawn / Rebecca - I hope this morning finds you both feeling better!

Joanne - smart move sticking to the walking for now.

Sue - seems lately it's been way more 'rough' weeks than 'average' weeks. I truly hope they appreciate all the work you do for them.

Laura - that's too bad about the lack of funding. After seeing how successful things have been you would think that they would 'FIND' the money. Special collections at church.........tighten their belts here and there.............go to the parents........whatever. You've done such a wonderful job I just think more effort should be put into finding the funding. Good luck on the computer/room issue.

SO - exactly when do you leave for Ireland??

me - Interview this morning so I'll probably head out around 9:15. Hopefully the traffic will be ok and I'll get there in plenty of time.

Have a good day all.

Maryanne

Laura - My side is doing ok. It has finally stopped bugging me when I am doing nothing lol It still gets a little sore after a long walk, and after the last time I did ab work, I'm afraid to for a little while. A friend on another board suggested wrapping it, which I did one night for a couple hours. It helped tremendously overall. I haven't done it since because it hasn't been that bad again. There is still a little swelling in the area.. I am not sure why, but I'm going to give it another couple weeks and see how things are then. I know someone who pulled a muscle in her back and it took 2 months to heal finally. So yeah. Just not pushing it and keeping it to the walking. Thanks for asking :)

Yesterday was my LAZY day if you want to call it that -

Made the lemon ricotta pancakes - yummy went for a long walk with Linus and my hubby
- prepped dinner which was Potato and leek baked flounder YUMMY YUMMY along with flash roasted brussels sprouts

GOT MY TAXES DONE after some consternation over the limit on home equity debt/mortgages/grandfathered debt etc UGH how confusing can you make it UGH LET"S GET BACK TO SIMPLE geez!! Then reviewing the IRA/pension annuity penalty GEEZ - anyhow ALL SET and NOW you cannot file because the IRS is NOT taking ANY returns till after 1/31.
GREAT WAY to run the government - confuse the people, confuse them even more THEN not take the return once it is ready - OH WELL we are getting a small return from the Feds and a modest amount for the state - as Colie and I said OH A WEEKEND AWAY MONEY!!!

YOU BET WE GOT THAT PLANNED actually a night out and spend the night at one of the Wine Festival Dinners late March

Got an email from my client's daughter also my client and I finally said I AM GOING INTO THE FORBIDDEN ROOM TO FIX THE COMPUTER - seems the computer is in a bedroom which I believe probably is a mess - I DO NOT CARE the computer needs to be fixed!! So that is on my schedule tomorrow -

LEFTOVERS for dinner tomorrow too which is great

As I knew would happen the church did not fund my position for the fall. Remember some generous person donated the money I get now. So I now know my last paycheck will be June 30th. I LOVE working with the kids and it is very rewarding in itself - I will continue volunteering as I have done in the past but may not do all the Saturday outreach programs and another Winter Bible Camp or Summer Vacation Bible school - as either a volunteer or paid worked they are SOOOO much work - I will continue to work with our kids in Junior Church. We have a great group there and we have doubled in size already

SO happy to say two more teens stepped up to the plate and came to me today and said OK WHAT ASSIGNMENT DO YOU HAVE FOR ME FOR WINTER BIBLE CAMP?? AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME - so NOW I have the Songs and Singing all set with leaders, I have two teens as Craft leaders and they were having SOOOOO MUCH FUN working on the crafts today to get them ready!!! ALL BASES are covered now for good weather! We begin on February 18.

DO NOT LAUGH ALL BUT I have started putting clothes away on my closet floor for Ireland. This way I will not be running around looking for them and if I do not get to laundry which I hope I do after Winter Bible Camp is over on Friday afternoon at least I have what I want!!

Got to dash I have a lot of emails to send my volunteer team.

Dawn - I thought there one shot that was live.. I cant remember the name of it, and unfortunately lost all my bookmarks when my computer crashed so I can't pull it up real quickly, but if I am wrong I will accept that. I don't claim to be an expert, but I have done a LOT of research on the matter (and not just the typical google search lol). Anyway, your story about last year kinda proves my point, and adds to my personal research numbers. Every ER nurse I know says the same thing. But they still push it on people. And what REALLY makes me mad is that they are pushing it on people who are already sick! Even the CDC says not to get it then! The whole thing is uber frustrating to me. But through everything, you job can screw if they don't like you being sick, and I hope you feel better after your day of rest. :)

Not much to report today. Just a laid back day here. I'm in kind of a rut in my head, so I'm trying to push through that and get moving. Baby Steps :)

have a good day everyone!

Sorry Joanne, I don't want to cause any strife here but I do want people to understand that the flu SHOT is not a live virus. The nasal inhaled dose is a live virus and it's not given very often b/c the "side effects" are too much like the flu. I am just sooooo disgusted with this flu shot stuff. Last year we had case after case in the hospital of people who got the shot and got the flu. It was almost epidemic last year. People died b/c of it!!! Yet, here they are DEMANDING that nurses, and now some say teachers, get the flu shot to protect their pts. How's that for a how do ya do? Never mind protecting the people who are trying to save lives etc. Then, I call in sick for today b/c I just don't think I can do 8 hrs feeling like this and I get this tone on the other side of the line that says, "well.....alright......feel better, (even though I don't believe you are really sick)." Yet, had I gone into work like this they would have been annoyed with me and told me that I should have stayed home. When you're a nurse you can't win. The bottom line is that you can't get sick when you're a nurse even though you're surrounded by bugs and buggy people for 8 or more hours a day!!! AND, now, if you do have a cold they add to your discomfort by making you wear a mask alllllll day long. Eight hours in a mask!!! I know that in some Chinese districts they wear masks outside but, for 8 hrs? Really? What ever happened to hygiene, coughing into your sleeve, washing your hands after you blow your nose, etc?

Well, hopefully, I am going back tomorrow. Just going to rest today. Maybe do a couple of loads of laundry and clean cat boxes. I do have to go out to feed the hens but, that'll only take a couple of minutes.

Will talk to you all when I am feeling better.

Back to below freezing cold:( But the good new is, both my fiancé and I have today and tomorrow off. So we'll go out for lunch later on. Other than that we're just going to relax and have a quiet few days.

I want to run all the races!

Dawn- Sorry have the flu! I am the only one in our family who got the shot this year. They just didn't push it for the kids the way they have been for the last few years so I didn't make Abby go. Last year she and I had the shots and we both got the flu anyway so this year I was more laid back about it.

Woke up with no heat this morning. The house was down to 60 degrees which may not sound bad, but it was cold for me. I woke up hubby and he reset the thermostat which seems to have got it working again. We also called the oil company because we seem to be on the verge of running out of oil. He actually said we were out of oil at first and then realized there is still some left in the tank. So they are coming but they know we have heat for the moment.

Also woke up feeling sick, sick, sick. Felt it a bit yesterday but still managed to go out and do what we wanted to do. This morning I can't even get my coffee down. Stomach is just horrible. I did overeat yesterday but I don't think that is the cause. I don't know. Oh well. I am getting laundry done and making breakfast for them, but I don't know if I'll get to the grocery store.

Good Morning ladies!

Rebecca - sorry to hear about your asthma. Mine only really affects me in the cold if I do anything strenuous. I am lucky I guess. Be careful :) Your internet issues could be a number of different things from a line outside being loose, to your router being old (if it is).. I know I was having MAJOR issues with my connection the other day, but husband wasn't so I'm assuming it was just my computer. I updated and things seem to be fine now.

Maryanne - that does sound promising, Good luck! And BIG CONGRATS on the retro check! Must be a relief!

Laura - sorry about Linus :( poor puppy. SUPER congrats on the loss!!!

Dawn - Rest up! I think the whole world would be happier and healthier if people just stayted home to rest when they were sick. I have talked to a number of different ER nurses and all of them have told me at least 80% of the patients that come in with actualy influenza are people who got the flu shot (haha I accidentally just typed that word with an I instead of a U LOL). The flu shot lowers your immune system (as with every vaccine) to make you more suseptible to viruses and bacteria. ALso, depending on the shot you got, most are live virus shots. So if your immune system was compromised for ANY reason before you got the shot (did it again!- I'm finding humor in this), it will give you the flu! And since you work around sickness all the time....
That is just the basic chemestry of it.. I could go on to list a number of different "conspiracies" about it, but there is no "scientific proof" they are true (at least in this country. there is plenty from other countries). Please take time to recover so that you do not spread it and so you get healthy sooner.

As for me - I did not do well at the beginning of the week in either food or movement. And my peaking at the scale scared me a little. But I put it into medium gear (not enough energy for high gear lol) for the end of the week and I am happy to report two things. 1) I beat my personal best in walking speed. 2.25 miles in 36 minutes! That's a 16 minute mile WALKING! SO happy... 2) I somehow managed to still lose 2lbs! I don't know how, I'm not complaining, and I am stoked! SO lesson learned this week? Keep on Keepin On!

I didn't get out for my photo shoot today like planned because my subject was sick. But I got a great outfit for her, and even if it means doing it without snow on the ground, we will get some great shots. So I am still very excited!

OkeyDokey. I am off to do a whole lot of nothing. Husand and I are having a disagreement of sorts which means he is cleaning the house... not by my orders, he just does this so he doesnt have to deal with me LOL So I am sitting back and letting him cuz I'm a horrible wife like that lmao

HAVE A GREAT DAY!!!!

~~Joanne

Hey all,

Sorry I have missed a few days here. We really got slammed with the snow the other day. We got almost a foot here!!! As usual, it drifted thigh high in some places. Fortunately, we have a plow guy to do the driveway but, I had to shovel a path to the chicken coop. Now I have the flu. Full blown, aching, fever, coughing, wish I could just die flu!!!!! I did get the flu shot. Joanne, like you, I put very little faith in some of these medical things that are supposed to keep us well. Please explain to me how it is that I have NEVER gotten the flu when I DIDN'T get the flu shot and this year the hospital made me get it and here I have the flu. Is that convoluted or what? So, now I have a dose of ibuprofen in me and I am going to rush out while it's working and get my shopping done b/c we are out of everything here and Bobby isn't home to go for me. I know it's stupid and irresponsible but, I have no choice.

Laura, let's see here, MOPS, sick dog, dental work with associated muscle spasms, and a very cantankerous father!!! You have had a very busy week. I haven't been ice skating yet this winter. I need to just go. I have a few days off this week so I can go later in the week. No fancy moves for me though. I just like being on the ice....in a standing position.

Maryanne, purging is GREAT....when it's all over. I tend to purge in spits and spurts and little bits at a time. I am ever so excited about your Partner's job. Still praying it all goes thru very smoothly for you. Now, how can it be that CVS doesn't have good medical coverage? For crying out loud, that makes no sense to me at all. They're medical, how can they not have good medical coverage. It makes me want to scream. Such a racket.

Joanee, I hear you on the cold. I hate it. It's not so much the cold as it is the wind. That's what gets me every single time.

Rebecca, be very careful with that asthma and all of this cold honey. You know all too well the effect it has on you. I know steroids are really the only thing that works for asthma like Abby has. It does save lives but, they have their side effects as well. But, when you can't breathe you're really not thinking about side effects and that's all there is to it.

Zinha, welcome back. Sorry, I don't recall much about you. Maybe you could refresh my memory a little.

Well, I better run while I'm not feeling half dead or wishing I was dead. This should be very interesting!!! If I'm not better tomorrow, I will be calling in sick. Can't work like this.

Glad the weather is a little warmer. It's 34 degrees out there right now. Much more tolerable than 10!!!!

Have a great day all,

Dawn

Did I ever think there would be a day when it was 26 degrees, and I thought, gee that's not too bad, LOL! I wish Antarctica would come that weather back. I'm tired of it. And it's so cold in my work, that I cant wait for Sun & Mon off so I can stay home with the heat on. I sound like an old lady, LOL.

Morning all.......

Wow, never thought I'd be saying this but 'nice day out there' I hear mid 30's? HA HA HA, who would have thought that would be considered warm!

CVS finally emailed me and the interview is set for Monday at 10:30. It should be interesting to see what they say. Just mapped it and it's 40 minutes away but all highway which would be easier to get to than going into downtown Boston and it would be free parking. But one thing I've already heard is that the medical plan they offer isn't great so we shall see.

Laura - hmmmm, maybe we can add VET to your list of talents? So glad you were able to act quickly and get Linus back on his feet! GREAT job on the weight loss!!!

Not much going on here. Going to run a few errands today and then hopefully go thru my shoes and get rid of what I don't want. That way I can make a plan to get all these clothes etc donated. A lot will go to Big Brother/Big Sister but I'm going to take some of my late sister's suits and some of my dress shoes I don't wear and bring those to Rosie's Place so hoping to get that done tomorrow.

Have a great day everyone.

Very busy day for me yesterday - it started out with Linus being sick Wednesday evening into the wee hours of Thursday! UGH

Poor dog - I did figure out what was causing his nausea and gave him 3 10mg prilosec like we did we had him at the Doggie ER in November. Seems after he finishes up that Flagyl for his colon issue 7-12 days into medicine he can have acute nausea, drooling, edginess and licking the air - SOOOOO what the only thing that I could not do for him was give him a shot of anti nausea medication BUT our 24/7 Home again Vet said if the prilosec does not work give him some mylandta or maalox. Prilosec started working about 3 AM but poor Linus would not let me go to bed every time I did he came in and tapped me so I just sat on the couch comforting him till the excessive drooling and stuff eased up - NEEDLESS to say I got LITTLE to NO sleep and had an early day with MOPS and then my client

What I did do was call the VET on my way over to MOPS and left a message - Bless her heart she called at the time I said I WOULD be free to talk!! AWESOME and she said I did an AWESOME job and did not need to see Linus since he was already full of spunk and eating and pooping normally - it will be something we can keep an eye on when he takes that medicine

Then at MOPS we had a great time with our story and craft - some of these 3-5 year olds are so attentive and creative when I explain what we are doing. There crafts were AWESOME!!!

Then over to my client's - the house was cold and OIL is needed but I do not know where that is going - I will take her to Sears on Monday to for a new watch band and she wants to look at a refrigerator - BOY she needs a new one! TRUST ME - Also next week I plan on having a "cooking day" with her and we will make baked oatmeal her favorite that I bring to her.

Came home had barely time to get a shower in and ready for my doctor's appointment. Was wondering how bad my weight was and blood pressure etc

TA DA TA DA TA DA - My doctor was AMAZED - quite frankly ME TOO that even with the wedding, all the out of town company, Thanksgiving and Christmas the scale DID NOT GO UP!! It actually WENT DOWN about 4 pounds!! YES INDEEDY

He did change my prescription for muscle spasms from Flexeril to Zanaflex but the generic. I have NOT been taking the Elavil to help with the nerve pain because the flexeril and elavil wiped me out SO WE SHALL SEE. He is concerned and rightfully so at how tight my neck/jaw muscles are BUT that is the permanent damage from the radiation treatment - IT IS WHAT IT IS and I deal pretty good with it!!! I do my best

He did change Colie's BP medication from the Lisnopril because it has given him a dry cough but Colie weighed in at the same

GOOD NEWS too our podiatrist is part of their team so we can see him if we need to in South Boston!! We did discuss PT for my IT bands and issues with the knees and I said to him $70 a week in copays WOULD LOVE THE PT but too much out of pocket $ for me - so he said KEEP your massages they help

Tomorrow I am cooking a breakfast recipe from Chef Daniel Bruce's book - not low fat for sure BUT something I love and will not have very often Lemon Riccota pancakes and then dinner tomorrow night potatoes and leeks with flounder

Trying to get laundry done - already went shopping and walked out with over $200 in groceries!!

Take care

laura

Morning all - happy Friday!

Had the call with the big boss from Partners yesterday afternoon from 3-4 and at 6:00 I got an email from Karol (the woman I originally talked to). She said "I spoke with Jessie and heard you had a good talk. You should be hearing very soon from Mike J. Thanks for your time – and your patience!"

So I think that kind of sounds promising???

Still haven't heard back from CVS where the guy said they were scheduling an interview for me. It was supposed to be for today or Monday/Tuesday so hopefully I'll hear something today.

Other than that not much here.............tired today and I don't really have any motivation to move but do need to just clean up the last of the mess I made this week with all the closet cleaning. Should be able to get it all done in about 2 hrs so not too bad. Nothing much planned for the weekend - keeping it low key.

Rebecca - oh that's just awful! Please please be careful...........

Joanne - sounds like a fun trip tomorrow!

Everyone else - hello - glad to see everyone is moving and grooving...............

Have a good day all - stay warm.

Way to go on everyone who is making their fitness goals!

I am behind on mine this month. I just can't get myself outside for anything extra because of the cold, and in the house I just seem to be busy. Did not have a minute to myself last night at all.

Internet at home has been slow too so I still have a couple of days of tracking to get caught up on at some point from when we were away etc.

Maryanne- Yes, my asthma... had an attack last night going from the restaurant where we had dinner to the car. When I got home I kept the car running until I had everything completely packed and ready to go. Then we basically ran for it to get in the house. crazy. I just want to stay under a pile of blankets for a few days and warm up.

No big plans for the weekend. Might go to Barnes & Noble tomorrow for a Lego thing but I don't know if we will. It's not at our local store. It's at a bigger one further away.

I am so proud of myself today! I got 30 minutes of fitness in between the elliptical and a couple of Spark Videos. I was only able to get through half of one of the videos on the site and almost completely through one of the segments on the Cardio blast DVD. I am pacing myself (damned heart condition) but I am trying and that's all that matters.

Morning!

ok so more like evening lol

Just a drive by to say I'm alive. Got a small walk in. Busy with school, and I have to figure out how I'm going to work everything with time. Working on eating better through the week. It's so easy when I'm home all day.. never thought I'd say that lol My body hates me, so I'm still working on baby steps with exercise. Every time I do anything more than basic walking, I hurt myself, even though I'm not really pushing myself to do those things.. eh it is what it is. I am just going to keep at it slowly.

Day off tomorrow, then snow trekking this weekend for pics. I'll try to stop in tomorrow with personals. Have a lovely!

Morning all - brrrrrrrrrr Please bundle up if you have to be out today!

Things are progressing along here.
- closet in my room cleared out and I just need to go thru all the shoes
- closet in the spare room all cleaned out and I have moved my coats in there. I was also able to utilize the shelf in there to move about 25 books I bought over the summer but haven't read yet. These were all on this stand along shelving unit I had and can now get rid of.
- cedar closet downstairs was emptied yesterday. Everything smells musty so I picked up some of that Damp-rid and a hanging wardrobe. Sprayed febreeze last night and it already smells so much fresher. This morning I hung the damp-rid and the hanging wardrobe in there and moved all my summer dresses in. Meanwhile I have all of my late sister's suits hung on the porch (it's an indoor one) where I febreezed them. Need to get them all aired out so I can donate them to Rosie's Place. They are beautiful suits (all designer names) but too small for me so they need to go where they can be useful. 4 coats will also be donated along with the shoes once I go thru them. So today I will finish all of this up and then clean out the bathroom closet. So progress being made............

Partners contacted me yesterday and I've made it to the final stage. I have a phone interview today at 2:00 with the person I would be reporting to! CVS also contacted me and asked me if I was still interested in the position (they knew I was interviewing somewhere else). I told them yes and they are setting up a formal in-house interview for either tomorrow or mon/tues. The more I think about this position the more I am opposing it. It sounds exactly like my old job only MORE so I really don't want to walk into that nightmare. I'll do the interview and meet with my friend (former co-worker) and see what she says......... Did I mention that I FINALLY got an unemployment check! It was only for one week but at least I am now going to get checks. I just need to get the back money now and I think that is going to be mailed to me instead of directly deposited. I'll give it till tomorrow and then back I go to unemployment on Monday if I don't have it. Sigh...........what a process!

Becci - hope the weigh in went well

Ladyd - where do you live that you were so lucky???

Laura - Ohhhhh what a nice day you had with Ross. Sounds SO nice!

Rebecca - I hear ya, it's just cold cold cold out there. I'm almost glad to be unemployed so I don't have to go out. I figured that your asthma would be a problem. Please be careful today.

Oh oh oh - Justin Bieber got arrested for drag racing and dui! Honestly, I wish they would toss this obnoxious brat in jail with some hardened criminals for about 48 hrs. Maybe that will straighten him out!

Stay warm everyone.

Bacca- I don't know about you but I would have liked the shoveling for the fitness points at least. I could do without this MINUS DEGREE weather though! BRRR!!

My asthma is not handling it well. I have to go out during the work day for a dentist appointment this morning and I am bundling myself up as well as I can. Just wish I had warmer gloves. Oh well.

Stay safe everyone. It is frigid out there!

Afternoon team

Woke up to just about an inch on the sidewalk after all my shoveling last night YAY!!! Although my Dad did as Christina put it "submerged" the stairs and sidewalk in salt after I got it done - it needed to be swept up WAY TOOOOOOO MUCH now I know why he has so little salt when I buy our bags at the same time!!

Trying to figure out the Living Social deal with tea and skating was a pain. Problem is the regular room they use for tea is being renovated so they are using the main dining room NO problem BUT the rink is open 3-8 Mon-Fri SO that was a problem so we ended up having tea first which was great managed to ask them to let us come early THEY did! Better yet the Executive Chef came out and talked to us we were buying his book - OOOOOO the recipes are wonderful!! Chef Bruce also gave me some great tips on the Wine Dinners as well - he was really cool. I appreciated his taking the time - Got a photo of him and Ross - I told him to sign the book to Ross - THEN OFF WE WENT ICE SKATING

YES it was cold MINUS 6 Degrees with the wind off the water - Ross and I were the only ones skating and we had fun/ Skated about 35 minutes ENOUGH for me since I had taken the pain killers last night I was moving a bit slower today - HAD FUN - I did not fall and I did some neat moves the rink is only 80 x 30 so two good glides and I cover the rink - did a FABULOUS SPIN - it was sooooo long and ended it with a cool move out and then had to stay in one position I was dizzy - must have been the after effects of the pain meds and all the tea I drank

IT WAS A GREAT MOTHER/SON date !! He takes me to the Bruins game on February 4th
