My doctor had to cancel because of a family emergency but he rescheduled for June 20ieth. It is good because I don't have to wait three months but I'm sorry about the circumstances of the cancellation.

Evening team

quiet day just running a few errands and my Dad came along with me and I took him to lunch.

had to laugh because the job the agency was forcing on me has gone to part-time my former admin asst applied for it!

always check my caller ID and it seems a medical collection agency called here - WHY I have no clue all my bills are up to date - still waiting on ONE bill from a dentist and called and asked for it - so wonder what it about SO I called and of course NO answer and if it is from a bill from that STUPID Steward Hospital - Carney I am calling the attorney general's office - WHAT part my 3rd party administrators PAY my deductibles DO they not understand

OK I will stop!

Some stiffness and soreness from yesterday but I told my Dad I was ready to tackle HIS windows on the next cloudy day!

Thanks DAWN - I do hope to get some jobs from my business.

Hey all,

Just popping in briefly. I slept 3 hrs today and my brain is so foggy right now I can't form a thought.

Tina, so sorry. I thought you were talking about the BL Club, (also called BLC). So easy to get me confused! Thanx for the invite. Have a wonderful time at Myrtle Beach. It'll be nice and warm down there right about now. Not too bad though. It really doesn't get awful for another couple of weeks and right there on the water it'll be really nice for you. Enjoy.

Amy, I am thinking of you dearie.

Laura, I hope your friend spreads the word about your organizational skills and you get more opportunities to do what you are good at. You'll really be dropping the pants with all of that moving around!!

Were in the countdown Sue. I'm getting really excited here. Can't wait to hear all about it.

Maryanne, we haven't had the puppy here yet. She's still acclimating to her new home. She's very sweet....and energetic. I have gone over to their house the last 2 mornings after work and taken her outside to do her thing and then play with her and put her back in her crate. It's going to be very interesting when she meets the chickens!!! We'll see how she does.

Speaking of animals, I need to go take care of them. I am hoping to get a walk in after dinner but, no treadmill as I twisted my ankle yesterday chasing my indoor cat who got out into the woods. Yup, down the steep hill and thru the pricker bushes. My legs look like I was in a cat fight!! All scratched up. Charming. So, I'm resting my ankle tonight, not running. But, I do need the exercise so, a walk should be ok.

I hope you all have a good night.

Maryanne! I am jealous! My parents were up there this past weekend too.. They said it was beautiful!!! So glad to be back with this team! I've missed all of you! The next round of BLC starts in September. I believe around the 20th. I will keep you posted!

Rebecca, I haven't seen the 5% challenge.. are they still accepting people? This round of BLC ends on July 18th.

I hope everyone has a great day! I am off to work and then to see my Grandparents to get the keys to their condo in Myrtle Beach! I am so excited to go next Thursday!

Good Morning all - never got a chance to pop in yesterday due to work - busy busy.

TINNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNA - So glad to hear from you!!!!! I'll have to check your team out because I desperately need something here! I spent last weekend in OOB - need I say more?

Janlee - Good Luck at the dr's! Fingers crossed!

Laura - I don't know which vision I will keep in my head today? You chasing birds or dropping your drawers - HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA! So glad you had a great weekend with the kids. Also sounds like your 'organization' business is starting to take off a little - fingers crossed that it keeps growing.

Rebeccama - my cousin's went thru that lice issue in school years ago. All of them had hair down to their waist (5 girls) and it was so bad they had to all get 'pixie' cuts!! It happens everywhere and people are so wrong making their stupid assumptions. How are things going?

Sue Sue Sue - are you getting excited????????? Big weekend for you coming up! You're going to do great!!!!

Dawn - congrats on the new grandpuppy! Have you introduced her/him to the chickens yet? I know there's got to be a good story there?

Everyone else - have a fabulous day. I've got to get back to work.......crazy busy here.

Amy - prayers.......................

Maryanne

Hi Dawn!

The BLC Challenge is within SparkPeople. I don't belong to another group outside of Spark :) So if you would like to join, let me know. It is just another team on SparkPeople that runs 12 week challenges, with it's own teams within the large group, that compete against one another. It is a great group and completely free, as it is right here on this site.

Afternoon team!

Thanks for the congrats on the pant size!! Going to belt em for now and see how things go with the pool and all for exercise this summer!

Went to my client's house this AM and totally re-organized her kitchen!! Went through food stuff tossed out all the outdated staff and washed stuff - lots of up and down on the step stool for the many shelves! It was fun and she is a dear friend too- Said I would do it for free and she said NO WAY you have the skills I NEED to organize here so let me pay! It was great

Came home and then I tore my house apart, taking down ALL the curtains on all 17 windows and then washing them all and then hanging the curtains back up once I was done - NOW that was a cardio and a half because I was lugging the step ladder to ALL THREE FLOORS!! Will blog about hat later.

Also on a funny note we have a lovely yard and we have our veggie garden all set up. We place a netting over the entire garden 16 feet x 24 feet in size and that keeps the birds from picking and the squirrels out. Well on Sunday would you believe a huge starling found some nook and cranny to get in and then I watched as two sparrows actually slipped in under between where we had it weighted down. NOW imagine 3 birds under the netting flying everywhere trying to get out and they cannot. NOW add to the excitement about 30 birds all on the telephone wires and fences chirping like crazy about the problem!! OUT I go and I set up a nice exit for them and NOW I am trying to walk around the 16 foot by 24 foot garden shooing them to the open hole I had for them. My son's fiancÚ is hysterical laughing because they birds were bouncing off the top of the netting - it is about 7 feet high!! HERE there is a 4 foot x 3 foot hole for them to go through and they are all around it but do not get out. Out comes my son and in his wonderful humor said MOM - you need a "twitter" account so you can "TWEET" them where the hole is!!!! HAHAHA

Anyhow I got plenty of exercise running around for 15 minutes trying to get them out of the garden!!!

Got to run off and get dinner ready - I need a good shower tonight and forget what my nails looks like UGLY!!! Gotta get the nail polish off too!!

Laura

Praying for you AMY!!!

YES TINA IT WAS A BLAST!!! Imagine being in the locker room with the players!!! WAY COOL!!

Hey all,

I'm at work so, I'm going to make it a quick one.

Tina, so good to hear from you. I was just wondering how you are doing. Thanx for the invite to BL but, I was a member there and belonged to a really good thread that kept getting smaller and smaller as people couldn't afford the monthly fee. So, what was left of us came to spark people and we belong to a private thread here. Little by little people have moved on. Kind of sad. But, I don't really want to go back to paying the $20 a month for basically the same service. I'm glad it's working for you. What I did like was that if you had a question you could ask their advisors and they would get back to you eventually.

Laura, whooo, hoo!!! That is hysterical that you lost your pants!!! Good that you hadn't left the house yet. That is awesome.

Janlee, I'm glad you're finding a way to stay cool. It's been nice in Plymouth down by the water. For now that is. Give us a few weeks and it'll be hot and sticky!

Going to go walk my new grandpuppy after work today. I don't have to be back until 11pm tonight so, I can stay up a little later. She's a sweet little girl and I look forward to her getting to know me.

I hope you all have a really good day. Will talk to you later.

Rebecca - My sympathies about the lice. I hate lice. Every time someone near me gets them, I get them too, and they have huge parties in my thick hair. I don't even go to the movie theater without a hat on anymore, and I only sit on non-upholstered chairs at the library.

Teena - Nice to meet you! Good luck with BLC!

Laura - Congrats on going down a size. What a way to find out!

I spent the weekend busting my butt on heavy-duty yardwork, and I think I'm actually stronger now. No real weight loss yet, though. I seem to be bouncing around gaining and losing one single pound. One of these days, I'll lose it for good and start working on the next pound. Either that, or my scale is almost but not quite consistent.

I tried to take a serious walk today, but my kid was being pokey and whiny. Maybe tomorrow.

TINA!!! You have been missed and OH MY GOSH - I won Spend St Patrick's Day with Milan Lucic and all I could do was think how excited you would be - I got a blog about it somewhere!!

Hi team - weekend was great with Ross home - we did more wedding planning and budgeting - the kids will move in with us after they are married so they can save for a house - we will not charge them very much but expect them to help out obviously!

It will be good to have them around anyhow - not sure when Ross will get a job back here in Boston but they have decided to move forward with wedding plans for next year.

Blogged Saturday - ROFL went to put a pair of cargo shorts on to go to the mall, out my phone in one pocket and my money in the other and the shorts came sliding down not all the way over my hips but pretty darn close!! Colie was hysterical laughing- he said THAT happened to you in awhile ago in Chicago too! GET A VELT!!

So the good awesome news is those pants were a size 14W and it looks like I am either a regular 14 or even a 12! SO all my groaning about not dropping weight with all my exercise is MUSCLE WEIGHS more!!! I am shaping up! That delighted me to NO END!!!

Busy doing laundry and made brownies for some future plans we have - figure bake when it is cool! Also massage special today 90 minutes for $90 bucks SO off I go at 2

Have a client tomorrow!!!

Not sure how long my unemployment will go was reading an article on line about benefits frying up and how hard it is to get any new ones - no matter what I will apply for new ones for the last company - did get out 5 resumes yesterday and have NOW included part time work in my searches!

Hugs to the team

Hi Mass Sparklers!!

It has been a while since I have checked in with this team, so anyone I haven't met, I am Tina and have been a Sparker since 2007. I have been spending a lot of my time on the BLC challenge team. (Biggest Loser) I am a co-leader of one of the groups, and am responsible for some weekly tasks that keep me pretty busy. If anyone is interested in joining the next round, let me know! It is a 12 week committed challenge, and I have had lots of success there! The next round starts in September. I can give you all a link to join if you would like, and you can even request to be on my team. Anyway, I miss all of you, so I am going to do my best to check in with you all more often.

I have been extremely busy at work lately, with proms, Mother's day, Memorial Day, graduations, Dance recitals... Those of you that don't know, I am a floral designer and have been going crazy lately working long exhausting days and weeks... Things are finally starting to slow a bit, which I am grateful for.

How was everyone's weekend? We have been pretty busy at my house. My hubby installed a new fence along our property line this weekend with the neighbor, so that kept him busy! I worked all day Saturday, and then Sunday, sprained my ankle at home. Not fun! I am able to walk on it today, so it wasn't a bad sprain, thank God. I am leaving for Myrtle Beach next Thursday for a long weekend with my best friend, so it would have been awful on crutches!

Well, off to work for me, I will catch up with you all later on. Miss you all!!

xoxo

Thanks for the support folks. I hate the stigma that comes with this mess. It's always like "oh only the poor kids get it..." or "only the dirty ones..." etc. ugh. And everyone is always like "well it was going around but MY kids never had it...." yeah, well... we never got it in preschool either, but it went around which is why I had a bottle of the generic stuff in the bathroom closet just in case. I emailed her teacher and let her know. Hubby and I are checking her and think she is okay so far. I know it could be a couple of weeks before we know for sure. UGH.

Meanwhile back at work and grateful for the air conditioning.

Hey New Members!! Welcome... hope I didn't gross you out too much. LOL!

Glad everyone is doing okay, or at least resting and hanging in there. I didn't log in any exercise this weekend although I was at the lake Saturday and Sunday. Water was warm enough for kids to swim in but not me. I went in, but only to help my daughter. I didn't swim.

Morning all,

My last day off (so sad). Plan to hit the new Market Basket for some fruit and veggies and then basically relax today.

Diane - I loved it. I was a HUGE Dark Shadows fan and I'm a huge Johnny Depp fan. I think as long as see it realizing that it's a Tim Burton production you'll enjoy it. If you go there expecting to see a remake of the original series (when J Frid played Barnabus) you will be disappointed. I suspect the way it ended that there will be a part 2 - WOO HOO! Glad you had fun at the Indy 500 - how exciting!!!!!!!

Have a good day all......

Hello from Indy! We are heading home this afternoon. What a great weekend and much needed break!
Meet two sparkfriends from Ohio and had a good time at the 500 although it was very hot...93!
Looking forward to getting back home. Miss the kitties!
Sounds like everyone had a busy weekend.

Maryanne-how did you like DS? We saw it and thought it was funny.
Rebecca- live is tough. I've had friends whose kids got it.
Amy-Glad that things are going well with Angel.

Will do a blog about my trip tonight. Have a great Tuesday everyone!

Oh gosh Rebeccama, that must have been so upsetting to have your daughter get lice. I was always so terrified of that when my kids were in school b/c it's so easy to catch from the other kids and it only takes one kid for it to spread like wild fire. I think it was very prudent of you and your husband to treat yourselves too. It'll be ok though. The treatments always work eventually.

Maryanne, that is a boatload of walking!!! So glad you had a good time.

I will chat with you all tomorrow. Just taking it easy today. My blood sugar will probably be sky high in the morning with no workout today but, I really need a break.

Hi all. I'm still not 100% but don't want to dwell on it. Only got a couple of hours of sleep last night. Dawn, I don't know how you do it. I usually average 6 hours of sleep, but last night I got about 2 and I am running mostly on coffee today. Ugh.

Dragged my husband and daughter up this morning to drive an hour to see my dad, uncles, and former step-father walk in a small town parade. Said my hellos, took some pictures, and did the whole festivities etc, but we didn't join the family for breakfast or go to other parades. We bailed. Did some errands and came home. My daughter has head lice. We saw it yesterday and did a treatment but I could see this morning at the parade that she wasn't cured so we bailed as soon as we could. Spent an hour and half today redoing her hair (applying the gel, combing, washing, etc...) plus laundry etc... I also treated myself just in case. Hubby did himself too. We figure with the amount of hugging, snuggling, etc... better to treat the whole house- us, furniture, bedding, toys, etc... lots of work but I want this stuff gone. It's been in my daughter's classroom for months, even her teacher got it. Hopefully we killed it good today. Not really how I was planning on spending the day, but I guess I didn't really need a 3rd day at the beach. Oh well.

Hubby has gone out now for some more errands, but my daughter and I are taking a break from the sun. Mostly she wanted to play with some stuff she got from the tag sales that we went to on Saturday, and I'm just wiped out physically (like I said no sleep) so we're chilling.

Good to see my dad this morning though. Those guys looked great, and I got some pictures of them. :-)

Afternoon all! Happy Memorial Day and a huge THANK YOU to those that have served or have family that served!

Dawn - NEVER do I get tired of the chicken stories - The pictures in my head have me laughing and laughing.

Just got home from OOB and it was fantastic as usual. Glorious weather!!! Got in 2 hr walk on Saturday and yesterday I left the hotel at 5:30 am to walk to the center to get DD coffee for my cousin. When I got back we sat for about 10 mins while she drank it and then walked and walked and walked. By the time we were done it was 10:00! So 4 1/2 good hours on the beach walking...........just absolutely fabulous. Now we're back and heading to see Dark Shadows at 3:10 which should be fun. I have tomorrow off which makes today even more enjoyable.

Sue - OMG I can't believe it's just about here!!!!!! How exciting!
Amy - Sounds like it was an exhausting but fun weekend!
Courtney - so sorry you suffer such insomnia......ouch.
Rebeccama - hope the headache cleared up.
Laura - I don't see to much posted so I assume you are enjoying a wonderful weekend with the kid! Good for you.

Ok, enjoy the rest of your day everyone!
Maryanne

Hey all,

Happy Memorial Day!! Another really busy weekend. Slept 4hrs on Sat and then got up and cleaned the house and took care of animals. Yesterday was church and mow the lawn...and take care of animals. Listen, I have to tell you that chasing baby chickens around in the squat position is a great workout. I'm not having any trouble getting my 10,000 steps in either. So, there's an upside to all of this chicken chaos.

Courtney, I think I already told you what an insomniac I am. I have to take stuff every single time I go to bed or I won't sleep more than 2 hrs. It's brutal. So sorry. Hopefully your doc can put you on Ambien or Lunesta or something. Seems like there was some bad news on the Lunesta recently but, I can't remember what it was.

Sue, we're counting done now. I'm starting to get excited for you here.

Maryanne, I hope you have had a wonderful time at OOB and the weather was nice for you.

Amy, what a busy weekend you have had. I hope your trip to Hartford is uneventful. The traffic is going to be horrific.

Well, no public skate today and it's kind of cloudy so, I may just end up on the treadmill. My daughter and I were going to put in our garden but we've been shoving the big chickens in there and shutting them in while the little ones are out. So, we can't put in any plants until I have my coop. The new run is coming along. We just have to put the wire fencing on the frame and we'll be all ready for the coop. Then I can stop doing all of this chasing around. I'll leave the little ones in there coop/run area for a couple of weeks before I let them out into the yard area. Then the chasing will ensue. I'm hoping my husband will let me keep the fencing up for just a little while longer so I don't have to chase them too far.

You guys must be so sick of all of these chicken stories. I'm so sorry. They do take up a good deal of time but, I really enjoy them.

Well, I hope you all have a really good day in spite of the cloudiness. I will talk to you later.

Dawn

Happy Memorial Day

Not sure of our plans for today. Everyone is sleeping in so far. It has been a busy and hot weekend, so the boys have been tired early in the evening. Today we will have to take Angel's best friend back to Hartford and hopefully pick up the redt of his stuff from his mother's place.

Hope everyone enjoys and remembers our Military!!!

Happy Sunday!!!
Yesterday was an early day for us. Double-header baseball games for Angel. He did an awesome job. Scored 2 runs in BOTH games, stole a few bases, got hit with a pitch!! He was grinning ear to ear!!! I felt bad for the boys the first game started at 9am, the second one 45 mins after the first. Barely enough time to get something to eat. The temps were near 90 to mid 90's!! They were exhausted!! Angel has his BFF ( best friend forever) with us this weekend. Ee were all asleep by 8:30, lol.

Today, Tony is making our traditional Sunday breakfast. Our plans are then going to the gym, the pool is uncovered and the weather should cooperate. Then the boys will explore Angel's new hometown on bikes.

Laura, sorry that you suffered some blues!! Hope you are feeling brighter today!!
Rebecca, hope the head improves so you can enjoy the day.
Dawn, what no fork-lift, lol. Amazing what some people think!!
Maryanne, enjoy your weekend!!
Sue, you can run and run, now can't you!!
Courtney, take one step at a time!!

Sorry about the headache, Rebecca. I used to get terrible migraines. My MD had me on Topamax and that helped. Glad someone else is up early...sorry about the circumstances, though. emoticon

Laura- I wanted to share this, not the same thing exactly but.. my father's girlfriend lost her husband 11 years ago (May 25). She took a few days off from work, and then on Friday (May 25) met her daughters at her home in the morning for some time together. They went to his grave, which is on her property, and so forth. It's been 11 years and they are all still mourning.

In fairness, a few years ago she "moved on" and looked up my dad and they have been happy together, but you know he is still a big part of their lives. I haven't lost a parent or a spouse yet thankfully, but I imagine the losses are similar. HUGE gaps that can never be filled.

I apologize for not getting on here yesterday. We did have a busy day and when I finally did think I was going to get on here my daughter needed me before I finished my sparking.

I'm up early now, well not as early as Courtney, but before anyone else in the house, and trying to do what I can. Listening to the birds outside. My headache is killing me though, that's why I got up. Not sure what is going to kill it.

Not much planned for today. We'll see what blows our way I guess. I suspect baking and some time at the lake. No hurry though. Take care all.

thanks Maryanne - NAD YES THE WHOLE YEAR HIT ME AT ONCE!

it will be great to have Ross home - they left New jersey awhile ago and should be here by midnight!

we are waiting for my Uncle Harry to pass away in Illinois - hospice called and said he is down to 90 pounds and they are bringing phones to him so his brothers can say goodbye to him - they feel once they do that Uncle Harry will pass away. He was a sweet man who was institutionalized when he was young because of brain injuries. We have sent care packages to him for years - another sad note for us

Afternoon all,

WOW-people have had a tough 24 hours!

Laura - it's just been a rough couple of weeks for you and it sounds like everything caught up at once and sort of just slammed you in the face. Glad to see you are feeling better today....Ross will definitely cheer you up. Enjoy the weekend with him.

Courtney - I couldn't have said it any better then Dawn did. Pick one thing and stick to it. Start tomorrow morning and when you wake up think POSITIVE. Say this is going to be a great day and I will drink 6 glasses of water today. Or I will walk for 10 mins today......whatever. Do it until it's so routine you don't think about it. THEN tackle something else. This is a tough time of year. Weather is getting warmer (good for walking) but also good for ice cream and bbq's etc... Moderation. And, if I may yell at you for one minute........NEVER NEVER NEVER EVER SAY YOU MIGHT GIVE UP!!!! That is NOT an option! You are NEVER EVER ALONE - We are all here for you and I am begging that if you feel like that reach out to any one of us! You deserve everything you can get out of life - go for it all!!!

I left work at 12:00 and am off till Wednesday. I plan to leave here at 6:30 tomorrow morning and am heading for Old Orchard Beach for the long weekend. Sort of a prelude to my July vacation...........I am SO excited!!!!! I can't wait to walk on the beach and sit and stare at the water and de-stress.

No computer will be coming with me so may you all have a very safe and fabulous weekend. I'll be back on Tuesday.

Maryanne

Afternoon team!

YES DAWN - I was very sad yesterday - DO NOT know what came over me but I let it run it's course and TEARS - it was pretty awful but today I do feel better - the UTI is getting better, my other issues are clearing up - they have not idea how my tissue got so irritated but the medicine for that is working as well!

Slept in a little later today as well!

Met with the person I said I was going to but what he wants me to do is something similar to Amway - it is called Melaleuca - all natural products - you buy a membership and then get 8 customers and become a director and so forth - NOT interested in that

I was going to take my Dad to lunch and HE took me because he hit the lottery for TWO $100 tickets! A great lunch and time with him - another reason I would like to stay home - well at least I am looking!!! Going to price a kitchen re-organization tomorrow so we are doing bits and pieces here and there~

Yes having my son home will be nice too -

You know Dawn - I just think everything hit me at once or something although I lived through it I think it was like time warp thing - WHAM there it all was

I was pretty happy about getting those cutlets on sale!!!

Today my first book I did on my iMac arrived! WAY SO VERY COOL!! Can you imagine seeing a hardcover book with YOUR PICTURE on the cover!!! I am working on my second book now and from seeing the first one in print I want to tweak some things

Got great news from the head of Christian Education department at church too today - I asked for our own room for Junior church there are a couple of rooms not in use and offered to purchase chairs/table to have a HOME for our kids - I am working on the fall 2012's curriculum and want to do poster board cut outs of people and take photos of their faces for a lesson and NOW I HAVE a place to keep them up while we do the lesson plan!

So Dawn - I am coming out of a funk - have not had one for years and considering all I am surprised I have not had more of them THANK GOD I have not!

So happy for our new mom "AMY"!!!!

Courtney - do not focus on the scale IT will drive you insane - look at all the non-scale victories - eventually the scale will take notice too! If not IMAGINE what a great thing you are doing for your body and total health. Somewhere in my blogs I wrote a picture is worth 1,000 words if you can find it - TAKE photos as you go along this journey IT IS AMAZING TO SEE!

ANYTHING you drop is great - better yet YOU are making changes to a better lifestyle and it pays off - you will feel better, have more stamina and even look younger!!!

SO YOU GO GIRL AND DO NOT GIVE UP!!!

Hey all,

A quick post here as I have a lot to do before I go to work tonight.

Ruby, good to see you. You always have such a supportive tone to your posts. Thanks so much.

Rebeccama, have a good time with your daughter. You'll have fun. You always do.

Laura, you sound so incredibly sad. I'm sorry. You know you'll get thru all of this. You have a lot of faith and your strength comes from God not your circumstances so, I know you'll be fine. It's just sad to hear that kind of sadness coming thru in your post. Hopefully, having your son home will brighten things up for you.

Courtney, everyone has days where they just want to give up. But, that's counterproductive. Living a healthy life is always better no matter what the scale tells you. I'm 51, diabetic, work my hump off, eat right and the scale has never been so unco-operative as it has been since my Dr. put me on Prandin for my diabetes. But, giving up isn't an option for me and I just want to encourage you to hang with it. Just take baby steps. It sounds like you might be trying to change too much all at once and that's what gets to you. Just change one or two things at a time and no more than that. Seriously, just start with drinking more water and moving more. Do that for a few months until that's a habit for you and then change something else. If you flip your life like a pancake, you're going to get burned. Take it SLOW. You can do this but you can't do it all at once. Hang in there honey, we're routing for you.

Well, the guy that was supposed to deliver our coop wanted us to have a FORKLIFT ready when he got here so we could get it off the truck. Ya, I'll get right on that. Get it out from behind my shed where I keep it for occasions like this!!!! What, a fork lift, are you KIDDING me? Sure, who doesn't own a forklift? So, needless to say, the coop will NOT be coming tomorrow and I'll be taking these feisty little feather balls in/out of the house for at least another week or so. Ya hoo!!!! I have noticed that I'm getting my 10,000 steps in without any trouble at all lately. Chasing baby chickens around can be a healthy per suit ....pardon the pun.

Well, I best get going here. Lots to do. I hope you all have a healthy and safe weekend.

Sue, that race is sneaking up on us. I am thinking of you dearie.

Ah Ruby, I think we are both here at the same time. Those are good reminders. Thanks for posting.

Dawn- Nice of you to check in. Hope your babies like their new space this weekend. Supposed to be a hot one tomorrow.

Courtney- I read your blog. Hang in there.

Laura- So much going on. I like your sig too. I need to remember it's more than the scale. I've had a couple of UP weeks lately and I'm kind of mad at myself. Have to remember to keep it in perspective.

Leaving work a little early to do an errand or two before I pick up my daughter at school. I almost canceled on her today but she is holding me to it. I really need to remember not to panic. Things will work out. I just need to have faith..

emoticon Good morning, everyone!
I just wanted to pop-in to greet all my beautiful friends and wish everyone a simply, FABULOUS holiday weekend, and I thank you all so much for your continued loving support.

I seem to keep on, unintentionally, slipping away. There just doesn't seem to be enough time in a day for me to do all I want to do. As yet I haven't found the time to read blogs or any postings, but at least I HAVEN'T given up and am still plugging along.I do hope to get back to reading all the posts & blogs I've been missing sometime this weekend, at least some of the posts!

I'm off work today and this coming Tuesday as well. Today I'm heading to the dentist, then to Hanscom Air Force Base to bring a friend to get her military ID. Hopefully I'll be able to get LOTS accomplished this weekend.

The following was posted by one of my Face Book friends, but fits in so well with my Spark People that I just HAD to share it:

emoticon emoticon emoticon
"New England Pagans & Witches

Fitness Friday: Its the weekend and a holiday weekend. You can still make healthy choices by being mindful of what food and drink choices you decide to make. Most people are better with foods, when trying to make healthy choices, but not always when it comes to drinks. Soda is loaded with empty calories and alcohol can wrack up the calories. 12 oz of Coke is 140 cals, 20 oz Mountain Dew is 290 cals! Coffee mixtures can be loaded with sugar and tons of calories. 16oz Caffe Latte w/ whole milk can be almost 300 calories. Drinking only 5oz of white wine is around 110 calories and most people fill the glass a bit more than 5 oz...lol. 3.5 oz Martini is 140 cals, beer ranges from 150 cals and up, Mike's Hard Lemonade 220 cals, margarita & mudslides can be equal to calories in a meal! Be sure to fit in some water and lots of it. Your body is your temple so be sure to treat it right and it will treat you right. BB, Fyre Majick"

What an awful mood I woke up in. I felt alone and scared. Although I wasnt alone in my bed, I felt like a lost soul. For some reason, I felt like giving up on this journey. Its beginning to drain me mentally and physically. The last two weigh-ins Ive gained. I just dont think Im ready for this at this point in my life. Oh great, here come the tears..has anyone else ever felt that way?

I just felt like things were not progressing at all and Im wasting my time trying to achieve something that for me is unattainable. Always has been. Ive been overweight my entire life except for the best 6 months of my life when I weighed 135lbs. I was also 22, not eating, smoking cigs like a chimney so I wouldnt eat, and had the metabolism of a 22 year old.

Those days are gone. I am on two meds whose number 1 side effect is weight gain. Not because they make u hungry but because they slow your metabolism. Great, another hurdle. I just dont get it. I lost weight before SP and it seemed easy enough but now the pounds are slowly creeping up instead of down where they belong. I feel like that "fat girl' (not that Im slim now by any means) I was--spiritually, emotionally, physically terrible--is just waiting around the corner for me to come back.

Maybe I should blog this. Maybe I will...But, I have come to a conclusion. Im am turning this journey over to God. I think His guidance and hand is what I need right now. I cant keep going on like this. I feel alone. I know He is beside me but I think I need to reach out and walk with Him. I know I can do this with His guidance....

Much love and encouragement to u all......Courtney emoticon

Hi team have been MIA

Dealing with things - part of it was we had neater death in the family which made me look at my own Dad's mortality an it kind of threw me if you know what I mean. Praying he will want to go to church with me SOME Sunday - praying that the new pastor will visit him!!

I have a UTi and other issues as well and I am just kind of WORE out if you know what I mean!!

Got through the last of the firsts and then Uncle Jim died the day we buried my Mom so that was tough. His service will be in Florida with another service at his former church in Hartford CT in June.

As usual hardly see my sisters and one is so nosy and wants to know ALL of Dad's business -well ask Dad I tell her! Not telling her a thing about his finances!!

Our son is getting counseling to deal with my Mom's death - he has such a great relationship with my Dad and had one with my Mom and has not dealt well with my Mom's death - he was a wonderful grandson and saw my Mom MORE than my younger sister did when my Mom was sick and then on hospice - he jokes and says WELL MOM at least I am NOW Select status with Amtrak for all the trips I made last year - over $1000 it cost him to come back every week by train to see his Nana - He will be home this weekend and that will be nice

The home business is slow but I do have clients. Funny thing out of the blue I got an email from someone who worked at the acupuncture place I went too - I had sent him some Red Sox photos in 2008 - anyhow he asked how I was doing and of course I am not working
Seems he has a business he is trying to grow and has asked for my expertise and experience on some things so I have chosen a neutral place to meet tomorrow over coffee to discuss I have no clue what. BUT I do know God has a plan for me AND out of the blue after 4 years this guy finds my email SO I MUST GO DOWN THAT ROAD because NOTHING happens by coincidence.

Just trying to get through things! feeling under the weather for sure, not getting much sleep - weight wise my gyn told me today I was doing fabulous and she wanted to CLONE to me teach people how to eat healthy and do what I have done!!! Love that GAL!!

Going to take my Dad out for lunch tomorrow and deliver THOSE DARN cookies in my freezer - I ate 3 today! BUT that was my Nutritious lunch! OK I had some pea but butter too. Weight was down today too so I really got to get rid of those cookies.

I usually do well with stuff in the freezer but not this week I guess - cutting myself some slack.

Went to BJ's and the turkey cutlets were 1/2 off!!! I bought almost ALL of them and placed them in my freezer since the sell by date is tomorrow! I see lots of great healthy stir fried and turkey cutlet meals!! We joked with Dad we are surprised we do not CLUCK like Dawn's chickens we eat so much poultry.

ROFL Ross is coming home this weekend and what home cooked meal does he want Roast Chicken with all the veggies to go with!!! I figured he would want a roast beef! Well that is NO problem!!!

BTW my former admin assistant interviewed with that construction company and when she gave my name as a reference the owner said to her I really wanted her to come work for me! So I thought that very unprofessional - don't you! I told her did you reply well she is recommending me so that must HOLD SOME WEIGHT !!!

Enjoy the long weekend all!

Hey all,

Just read thru the posts before I take my tired hinder parts to bed for a couple of hours. Can't stay in bed for long though b/c I want to get my girls outside. They will be going out permanently on Sat as my new coop will arrive that day. The big girls will go into the new, big coop and I'll clean out the old one for the little girls. At least I won't be chasing them around to get them in every day. (Maryanne, so glad I could amuse you my dear). Ah, Maryanne, it appears you have been dealing with your OWN birds. HA!!!! Did they leave you any eggs? Any pink eggs? HA, HA. Love it.

Amy, yes, yes, yes, I am doing a happy....and "thank you Jesus" dance. Wonderful news.

Courtney, I am also a raging insomniac and have been all of my life. Two of my kids are too. I can stay up for almost 48hrs straight and still function ok. It's awful. Don't let yourself get too uptight about it. Getting uptight just makes it worse. You'll figure out what works for you. As for the hand, I really don't know what's going on there. I'm a cardiac nurse. I also specialized in infectious disease, (AIDS pts) and renal nursing. I'm not a surgical nurse at all. We do emergency stuff at the bedside like trachs and incision and drainage of abscess but, not nerves. That's for the OR.

Ptown, I think it's a really good thing that you have figured out what your trigger is. A lot of people never get that far and they go their whole lives frustrated b/c they don't know what causes them to over eat. I learned that my trigger is being overly tired. I'm a night worker and an insomniac so, I'm tired a lot. I HAD to figure it out. So, I had to work and train myself to just leave the kitchen and go lay down when I'm tired. I don't have to get all the way to bed but I make myself lay down. It's harder when I'm at work, of course, b/c I can't go lay down but, I can keep myself plenty busy. So, you have to find a way to get away from food and find something to take its place when you are stressed. It takes awhile to get the hang of it but, you will if you keep trying. It took me almost a year to really get it down to just leave the kitchen and go lay down when I'm tired. But, I am doing ever so much better than I used to. After awhile, what ever you have replaced food with will become a habit. I know you don't believe me now but, it's true. You will figure out what works for you and it will become a habit. It's like Maryanne said, it goes in bits and degrees, not all at once. So, take it slow, be patient with yourself and you'll get it.

Well, I'm tired and I'm in the kitchen so, I'm going to leave now. Sorry this was so long and chatty. You all enjoy the weather.

Provincetown- You are not alone. We went to Chili's last night and I skipped right over the "lighter" entrees and ordered an entree that had about 1200 calories in it. I was tired, I was frustrated with my daughter, and I was hungry. I chose badly and I knew what I was doing. Ugh. Going to pay for this bad week on the scales tomorrow I'm afraid.

Maryanne- Have fun at Old Orchard Beach. I know you go every year. We haven't been to Maine in a while. Hoping to put it on the calendar this summer but not sure if it will happen. Very funny about the flamingos!!

Amy- I said it elsewhere but YAHOOO!!!!! So happy for you, Angel, and Tony! Congratulations! Birth mom & sisters can suck it up. This is what is best for Angel. Way to go!

Courtney- I also have sleep problems but don't take anything for it. I blame it on anxiety and PTSD. Best thing I can hope for is to be able to sleep late once in a while. Also good luck with your hand.

Maryanne again- Spark Gettogether-- I have thrown it out there for June 9th meeting at Southwick's zoo. I will be with my family but would love to meet up with others. Besides that, I'm curious to hear what you all come up with. If it was kid-friendly then that would be a bonus since I'm usually with my daughter.

June 2nd-- I know this is too far for most folks, but the Pioneer Valley people might like it- Strolling of the Heifers in Brattleboro, VT! Great time. Expo thing afterward is fun too. Parade starts at 10am. We'll be there somewhere, although it'll be tight on time I think on our end.

Morning all,

Yippy yah hoooooo to Amy - things are looking up. Now it's time to take care of YOU. It's also time to start thinking of having ourselves a little Spark Get together????

Maybe we can consider end of July / early August? I'll try to get some time in the next few days to put a few dates together and we'll see what we come up with.

Courtney - sorry you are going thru so much right now. Just keep pushng forward and hopefully everything will work out for you.

Another long day ahead of me today. 2 hrs before I start work so I'm going to skip my morning walk and go pull the summer clothes out of the boxes and pack up the sweaters etc. I'll walk at lunchtime and then tonight it's dinner with one of my nephews to catch up on things.

Boo to American Idol last night. I wanted Jessica to win! Grrrrrr

Have a good day all.

Hello all..Cant sleep AGAIN so here I am. Psych. put me on a sleeping pill which is not working. I see her next TH. and Ive been keeping a diary of my sleep..its been going on for about a week..UGH..I dont even get tired during the day. emoticon

Congrats Amy...I dont know the whole story but your news sounds like you're doing great!

Dawn-He MAY want to do an MRI of my right hand. I have some diminished strength and my finger where the numbness is is kind of bent now. When he did the EMG he said the ulna nerve was bad. Depending on the MRI, I may need surgery. The MD who did the EMG (not my MD in charge of things) said I will probably need surgery on that hand. Do u know anything about that? I see him May 30 so I'll find out more from the MD in charge. Yikes, thats my typing hand! What will I do? emoticon

Well, hope everyone is doing well and I'll look forward to talking to u all later...Courtney

Thought I had posted, sorry!
Very good news we are now proud parents, we have custody of Angel!!
It went very well for us, no fight was given. They pretty much told her it was not going in her favor for many reasons. It will be reevaluated in August after Angel's therapy and will br on the recommendation if his therapist. We are all so very happy!!!

Evening all - still trying to finish up work for the day. It's been crazy.

I spoke to Amy - not sure if she posted somewhere here but she got some pretty good news today!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hopefully she'll get online at some point and fill everyone in. I don't want to say anything as it's her big news not mine.

Long day today but got a bunch of things done. Lots already on the calendar for tomorrow and then 1/2 day on Friday with Tuesday off and I'm heading to Old Orchard for the long weekend.

I AM SO EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gotta dash. Talk to you all soon.

Provincetown - trigger's are terrible to deal with. You need to just take things one at a time.
For me - if I constantly turned to something I started out cutting the portion in 1/2. So if I used to eat bagels I cut it to a half, then less cream cheese, then a quarter etc. It worked for me whereas some people do things cold turkey. You have to find what works for you but try different options. Whatever you do, just don't give up. Maybe turn the trigger to some non-food item. If you get aggravated or stressed out, maybe clean out a junk drawer? Or if you get nervous......take up crocheting or something to keep your hands busy? Good Luck!

Sue - atta girl, keep on running.......you're going to sail thru that marathon.

Dawn - HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA. bad girls. bad bad bad girls.

OH PS. I got flocked last night. I had 12 plastic flamingos sitting on my front lawn this morning when I got up.

Good morning, All,
The sun is trying to peek through the murk. It's hard for me to stay focused when the weather is crappy and I want to stay in bed. Harder still is controlling my eating when I deal with my grown kids. My daughter is having day surgery tomorrow and I'm the designated driver. In fact, she lives just far enough away that I'm staying on her couch tonight. I'm such an emotional eater when I deal with family. After doing so well with my eating for the last few weeks I went directly to Dunkin Donuts for breakfast this morning. And it's not like I didn't know what I was doing (and last night I had such a great workout on the elliptical-go figure). Any advice for keeping my program together when dealing with trigger situations? Thanks for listening.

okay long list here this morning-

Sue- Keep it up! Way to go on those runs!

Laura- Hope you are feeling much better. 50/50 for rain today but should be nice by the weekend I guess.

Courtney- LOL at the medication/alcohol reaction. Glad it wasn't something more serious though. A guy I used to babysit died that way. Not sure how much medication or how much alcohol was involved but was a complete shock to me when it happened. I am such a lightweight with alcohol now. I gave it up when I was pregnant and nursing with my daughter and I've been scared to go back to drinking since. I'm a bad drunk too. I have a sip of my husband's occasionally but I've held off on a full glass for about 7 years now.

Dawn- Here is a baby chick story for you: My daughter's class (kindergarten) has had 10 eggs. 5 of them hatched yesterday, a day early. They are expecting the other 5 to hatch today. One hatched while sleeping? I'm not sure I really believe this one. I think it might have died and the teachers lied about it. Not sure. Anyway, lots of excitement. They have a little shelter with wood chips next to the incubator I guess for the chicks. Not sure what is going to happen with them after they are all hatched. School has about a month left to go.

Amy- Thinking of you! Please keep us posted. If there is any voice of reason in the court system then it will go your way. Unfortunately I have seen it too many times that things don't always go as they should. Lots of prayers your way.

Okay...on with my day!

Hey all,

I'm at work and one of my pts is very confused. Rings his call bell about every 20 minutes. I'm ready to bang my head on the wall!!! He thinks he's not confused but, he clearly is and it's frustrating for the both of us. Anyhow, if I have to cut it short, blame it on my confused pt.

Amy, of course I will be praying for all of you. I hope it goes exactly the way you all want it to.

Courtney, I really don't know what the problem is. I could take a few guesses but, I have to ask, what is he doing an MRI of? Hand, brain, spine? Did he give you any kind of hint as to what he is looking for? What does he mean when he says your ulnar nerve is over the top bad? Does he mean you don't have sensation or it doesn't respond the way it should? Are you having any other neurological problems along with this pinky numbness? Did you sustain an injury? See, there's alot that has to be filled in before I can really answer your question. In any case, I hope you get your answer and some relief soon.

Had a nice little 45 min workout yesterday before work. There will be no workout today as I have to be back at 7pm. Chasing chickens will be my workout. Ever try to squat and run at the same time? Great workout, trust me:). Little schiesters spilled over their water feeder when I got them back in their cage today. I had everything so nice and clean and they wrecked it in 2 seconds flat!!! I'll be really.....really, really glad when I get my coop. These little girls are ready to go out!!

I hope you all have a good day. Laura, enjoy the day honey. You deserve it.

Court tomorrow. PRAYERS PLEASE!!! We are very nervous. All the professionals back us so I hope the judge looks at that information. Will probably be a somewhat restless night for Tony and I. Angel really needs to be with us permanently!!!

Maryanne, glad you survived the colooscopy! Now for positive thoughts for good results!!

Dawn, your chicken stories make me smile.

Sue, run run run, lol

Rebecca, glad you get plenty vacation time. Wish I got more.

Courtney.. Good luck with your future tests.

Laura, hope your sinus feel better

Glad you are home Maryanne

Darn this rain - when it rains I bake and warm up the house! I have had such a delicious nutritious lunch NOT - cookie dough and a cookie! FROZE THEM ALL TOO -gone baby gone and I will deliver them later this week.

I am "meals on heels" today - cooking for my neighbor's husband who has issues from a stroke while she is out of town although she is back later tonight - will send enough over for her too. Love doing that!

Happy to say I finally NAILED down the Venue for the wedding and have the Inn booked out ALL ROOMS!!!!

Not sure I=if I mentioned I woke up at 7:30 AM with a sinus headache so bad I could not lift my head off the pillow - took some Afrin and that helped hopefully iy will pass. I have a deacon's meeting tonight at church and that makes it the 4th Tuesday night in a row for a meeting. One of there reasons I do not join the women's group - can you guess what night they meet!!!??

Have started working on a picture book of our trip to the Grand Canyon in 2005. OH MY when I look at the photos of Colie and I OH MY GOSH! OH MY GOSH - it was a wonder I wanted to show how big we were - but that is where we WERE not where we are AT !! As soon as my first book I created comes in this week I will decide if I want to make another one. I am loving it though - gives me something to do and so much fun!

My Uncle's funeral is in Florida this week and in late June they will have a service at his former church in Hartford on a Saturday and I will drive my Dad down for that - that will be ONE long honking weekend! On the Sunday we h=i=have an installation service of our new pastor too!

GEEZ my days fill up so fast.

DAWN - I am not sure to be honest on how to do NOTHING! But tomorrow is breakfast out with my Dad and I might take him to BJ's with me then do t=nothing - I took a full flexural and I am sort of wipes out just going up the 32 stairs BUT I must admit I slept 8 solid hours!

Stay dry all

Laura

Hello all...Hope all is well with everyone. Im recovering from a major setback on Sat. Had a cocktail and had a BAD reaction with a med that my MD had just increased. Not good. Spend Sunday hiding with embarrassment for my behavior. Hub forgave me for acting like "a crazy woman" and made me promise I''ll only have water or soda next time we go out. Fine by me..
Saw my neurologist on Fri..I have a numbness in my right pinkie that extends down the side of my wrist. Ive had it for awhile just figured it would go away on its own. Well..after seeing him, not so lucky. He did an EMG--not comfy at all. He looked at whatever the screen showed and announced that my ulna nerve was "over the top bad". He later said he got that term "over the top" from American Idol..yeah Im trusting him with my care. emoticon

So, I go back on June 1 for an MRI and depending on what that shows, probable surgery. I dont know any details other than that. Dawn, do u know much about this?

So, we're getting ready to wrap up the school year..science fair, field day, field trips, etc.
My stepson is in the special Olympics tomorrow so that aughta be nice.

I guess thats it for now..Hope to talk to u all later. Im going to have a nice cup of coffee and watch mindless TV until its time to go to the busstop. Feel like Ive been running all day. Errands, etc. I did pilates because I dont think Im gonna get my 2miles in--raining and raining over here... emoticon

Have a great day!

Afternoon all. Yes I survived the prep work. Worst part was drinking so much cold stuff within a 3 hr time span. I was freezing all night last night from it. Procuedure went fine and they did remove a couple of small polups (spelling?) and will send to be analyzed. I should hear in about a week. I felt perfectly fine afterwards and my cousin and I went out for breakfast. I got home about an hour ago and am getting ready to log on and work for the afternoon. Of course NOW I'm completely and utterly exhausted. I could definitely lay down and sleep...........I was going to take the entire day off but I hate to waste the vacation time if I don't need to. So that's that.

Will ready stories and catch up later.
Maryanne

Hey all,

It's raining here too Rebeccama. My only "plans" for the weekend is to get a coop built for the big chickens so I can put the little chickens in the little coop. We had the big girls outside by the time they were this big and I'm getting a little....ok, more than a little upset that we don't have a coop yet. My husband is a perfectionist and b/c he wants things perfect he gets bogged down in details. This has made for more than one "lively conversation" around here lately. Yesterday he told me that he found the perfect coop from a company in VT. Joy!!!! Oh, the only thing is that it can't be here for another 3-4 weeks!!! I barely kept myself from going into orbit. I told him that the "babies" NEED TO GO OUT THIS WEEKEND. So, I hope that he will find it in himself to start on the coop. Once he gets going he'll be fine but, it's getting him started. I just don't want to have to be a broomhilda about it.

Laura, does that answer your question? Yes, they are getting big. I named Scarlett appropriately. We saw her try to chest butt the bigger chickens thru the fence the other day. I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it with my own eyes. She actually ran them off. Believe me, she's not so brave when there's no fence b/t them! She acts like a chicken....sorry, couldn't resist. They are little boogers to catch though so, if anyone wants a good workout, come on over and catch a few baby chickens.

Yesterday I put up a net to protect the big girls from hawks while they're out in the garden. It took awhile and it wasn't an easy project to manage by myself but, I did it. Now I can feel a little safer when the girls are out there and I can't watch them. I just hope my net doesn't inadvertently catch anything. Horrors.

I can hear my little chickens tearing up their newspaper in the other room. My big girls never did that. These are a little more fiesty than my big girls so, expect to hear numerous chicken adventures in the future!!

Spark wise, I skated yesterday. Today is supposed to be a strength day but, I think I really want to get on my treadmill today. I have to figure out when I'm doing what this week b/c it's all 12 hr shifts and today and tomorrow are back to back.

Maryanne, I hope you are doing ok today and you have survived the prep and procedure.

Laura, enjoy the unusual sedateness that is going on at your house. It's never quiet there. You could use a rest I think.

Well, I have alot to get done before work tonight. I hope you all have a wonderful day.
