Sorry I haven't replied sooner, but I haven't been feeling well and have stayed away from the computer for a while. My Dr told me to stop the Savella, and even though I was on a small dose, I had withdrawal symptoms and vomited for almost 3 days. I'm SO tired of trying new meds that just give me unpleasant side effects.

Hi Sandy! Sounds like you've had your hands full for quite some time. I am curious about what your doctor said.. I am glad you started the new med slowly. I would call the doctor tomorrow if you are still sweating. It is mighty cold for that! I hope its just a minor side effect. Best of luck and thanks for checking in!

The high today was about 10 degrees, and that's been about the daily average for the majority of this winter. We haven't had a ton of snow this winter, so I haven't had to go out and shovel too many times. That kills me, because I hurt so much after going outside recovering from being out in the cold and hurting from shoveling. I stopped taking my Topamax a couple of weeks ago, due to the memory problems and hair loss. I had taken it for years, and I recently read an article about side effects of Topamax(topirimate) which included memory problems, hair loss and sexual side effects. Wow! Two weeks off and the sex life is better and I'm not experiencing a great deal more pain. Don't know if the memory problems are permanent, and we'll see if the thinning hair gets thicker.
I recently saw my rheumatologist and he explained what Fibromyalgia does to the brain. You have norepinephrine in your brain which reacts like adrenaline in the way it helps your body fight pain, After so many years if having Fibro, he said my brain has no norepinephrine left to fight pain and that's why I've had such a hard time dealing with post surgery pain after a knee replacement, and a neck and back surgery after a serious car accident. He suggested I start Savella, which helps your brain produce norepinephrine. I haven't had too much luck with these types of meds, as they create side effects too difficult to deal with. I suggested starting at a very small dose and working up to only half the suggested top dose to see if I could tolerate it. The recommended dose is 50mg twice a day, so I started on 12.5mg once a day for a week and I'm now taking 12.5mg twice a day for two weeks, then 25mg twice a day as a target dose. However, I'm just a couple of days into the 12.5mg twice a day dose and am experiencing periods of sweating that is completely not normal for me. It's one of the side effects of Savella you're supposed to tell your doctor about if experienced. I'm wondering if I should call my doctor over the weekend or wait until Monday??

Praying your pain is sorted I too get a lot of hip and leg pain and I though it was because I use a crutch when I walk but surgeon put me on vit D capsules and it hasn't been so bad.
Just had a nasty fibro flare which only lasted just over a week this time but I think it was the rain and cold weather triggered it off as I couldn't get out walking but I managed to walk to village this morning and only my head is hurting today Have a good weekend everybody Praying for you all emoticon emoticon

Hi y'all. That hip pain sounds annoying but Dr. Mom (my mom) says you're dehydrated after your walk. She swears by Gatorade but not too much because of the salt. Good luck!

Gen, the same thing happen(ed)(s) to me. My dr. told me to keep a bottle of Gatorade on my nightstand. I also found a supplement called Hyland's Leg Cramps. I found it in the pain reliever aisle on the bottom shelf in a brown, orange and white box. I've seen it at Publix, Walmart, Walgreens. I have found both of these things help, as does sleeping in the guest room on a pull out couch that has a blow up mattress on it. idk why, but it helps. Let me know if you find anything that helps w/ your hip pain. Thanks!

I have been trying so hard to walk each day for at least 20 minutes. But, during the night woke up with severe leg and hip pain. Not sure if I am having a lupus flare or Fibro causing such pain. In bed today and feeling frustrated! Guess everyone that I am reading is in experiencing higher pain levels also. Will keep positive and look for pain to ease so I can get back on track.

Sounds like so many of us are hurting really badly. Hang in there, everybody! My weekend was stressful - good, but stressful. And I fell last night, landing hard on my bottom and jarring my body, so I'm trying to take it easy today. I was able to get dressed and get a load of laundry going. I don't have to cook tonight because of all the leftovers from the superbowl party, so that's good. Really, I may not have to cook for 2-3 nights! lol I hope we all get to feeling better soon!

I have been hurting like you-know-what for the past few days. The weather here in the DC area is yo-yoing between the teens and the 50s. Now, we're back down into the 30s and expecting snow. I hurt a lot.

Have not been able to get any rest (i.e., stay in bed), because I've been too busy.

I'm hoping to take it easy today (Monday).

I'm way behind on everything and the pain is really bad, but I did have a wonderful vacation! My hubby & I celebrated our 25th anniversary by taking a cruise to warm weather for a week. We had a wonderful time. I am hurting a lot since we returned. Also, I have gained weight, so I need to get back on track! I will not give up! I can do this!!!

I am wintering in the deep south of TX in Pharr and we have had temperature extremes as have the rest of the country. We did have a couple of days where we had freeze warning & a threat of flurries (that didn't come to be!!) Today it was 84, one of the 1st warm days. Have another cold front coming through next week. So like others the pain doesn't quite and won't until the barometer stabilizes!! Take care, all of you!!

The weather here has finally started to warm up a bit. It was down to minus 6, possibly lower overnight, and the wind chills were in the negative 30's. over the last week. I live southeast of Buffalo near the PA border and there are ski areas all around us, but we usually get much less snow than the snow belt areas(just lucky, I guess). However, we still get the terrible winds and changes in barometric pressure that kill the sinuses and fibromyalgia. I just try to stay inside and keep warm. I did have to shovel once, and really paid for it for almost a whole week! Now that it's warming up, the weather forecast says it's going to be 50 over the weekend!! Feast or famine, I guess.

The cold weather has been very painful, and the Raynauds has been unbearable.I have to keep moving so there is circulation. I live in Central FL and this past week we have seen temps of 40's and then the next day, 70's, then rain, then cold again. Changes like that wreak havoc on my body. Today is to be much warmer so it's yet another change. I will still work out this morning AFTER the pain meds and shower help me to move. LOl

I hope that everyone else will continue to improve as the morning passes!
