I personally have an issue with most elimination diets, for the simple reason that the things that are not supposed to be possible allergens actually cause problems by triggering a couple of my other medical conditions into flaring up.

Some things were pretty obvious for me, even WITHOUT an elimination diet. Like the artificial sweeteners. Holidays with well-meaning loved ones making me "diabetic desserts"... yikes. LOL

For those of us with sensitivities, this really is a helpful avenue to explore... just know your limitations in other areas if there are any-- and please err on the side of caution and do this with your doctor's knowledge so that if any problems arise in the process, you're taken care of properly...

Hello everyone and welcome newbies! This is a great question.

YES-YES-YES! I am living proof that this technique to find the pain and inflammation sources is vital to understanding my own body; what and how it has changed; and how I can control swelling in my life when the doctors do not have the time or resources to direct my daily eating and product uses.

I find the causes write them down and share these entries with my doctors. Yes, I work the system. I use both a naturopathic licensed professional and an Endocrinologist MD to unravel my options and collect a more thorough assortment of facts from different perspectives. Whole body care and pin point trouble shooting is only achieved by a broader range of questions with real time do and don’ts. I do not take pain or inflammation or antidepressants from a prescription. My sources for pain relief are natural supplemental and pharmaceutical in purity and my diet is sound. Hence my spark name was/is my quest to discover the on going comprehensive new me.

My motto: I am made of vitamins and minerals not Lyrica.

When fibro has been late to diagnose tired and achy is real, the adrenal fatigue of low energy signs are accompanied by these symptoms. Malnutrition is one of the causes of fibro/chronic Fatigue syndrome and can be a life saver for reversal in getting back sound painless daily life. I like to think of it to be one of the curing tools with proper corrections. I read ‘Adrenal Fatigue, the stress syndrome of the 21st century’ by James Wilson. Reading this one book is a requirement of My MD. This book is quite an eye opener! I have read id half a dozen times and a different slant on a chapter has shown my forward progress to my doctors’ delight.

The other biggie is hormone imbalance: DHEA, cortisol, testosterone, progesterone, etc… These are the soap and water that pull the nastiness from deep tissues and you know, just run the body!

Many people with fibro are food sensitive, especially to sugar, alcohol, Wheat, caffeine, artifical sweeteners and even dairy. Here's a link to a great article on how to try an elimination diet to see if specific foods cause you more pain.
