I coiuldn't stand feeling tied down with the clips--and the velcro that held them to the hose was forever getting caught in my long fine hair--what a MESS! LOL

Oddly enough, it rarely bothers me now; I sleep with the hose clasped loosely in one hand most of the night... kind of like hanging on to a blankey! I DON'T suck my thumb, though... emoticon

Cathy, I don't get claustrophobic using my CPAP because I only have two head straps that keep the "nose pillows" (cannula?) in my nose. My biggest problem is the darn hose. It came with a clip that I can use to clip the hose to my head straps and behind my head. I'm trying that now.

New baby steps: start riding my exercycle more often (five times a day).

ABERLAINE, I remember when I managed my first night with a CPAP machine... WOW, what a difference! It wasn't easy, I have claustrophobia issues, but I can't imagine being without it now! LOL

It's a season when the weather changes a LOT, so there've been ups and downs for all of us. Guess what? We're still here! LOL

Hang in there gang, we can get through this!

I'm in mini-flare atm and very sleepy and lacking energy - my goal is to move a little and do something small for 5 minutes at every hour through my awake times. I will most benefit generally by combining it with my FLYlady stuff so the flat gets clean too.

Steady progress and not crash and burn thinking and behaviours will get me to where I want to be.

Love yourself.

My new CPAP machine is helping me sleep better. Check: one goal.

Now I'm going to try to work on my exercise. I need to start walking my dog on a more regular basis. She loves the walking and I need it.

My goal for this week: walking my dog for 20 minutes four days this week.

I think I managed most nights to get eight hours of sleep. Starting Monday I'll be using a CPAP machine, so I hope the eight hours will be deep sleep.

My goal for this week is to remember to do my meditations/relaxation exercises every day. I have been dealing with a lot of stress, and need to get my blood pressure and blood glucose levels under control--it's affecting my eyes and I have three months to get stress levels down or I may have to have surgery--yuck!

Salesse, I sent you a link that may help. Corgi mama, I have been exactly where you a, including the husband retiring to help, which almost led us to divorce instead of helping me. After my cervical fusion, I did PT but meditation, stretching and the reiki helped more. Does massage or a TENS unit help? I had my neck done 8 years ago and on April 24 am having a very extensive lumbar rebuild. Woohoo...(dripping with sarcasm...)

I am a retired dietitian, working my way through what appears to be an excellent book called the "Doctor's Detox Diet" It is written by a dietitian, MD. It is for weight loss and general good health. I will try to keep you all informed.

I am also a "cofeeholic" and trying to curb my intake. Green tea makes me sick to my stomach so trying other teas.

Trying some yoga (I am post fusion of my neck and spine) using "Healing Yoga for Neck and Shoulder Pain" My physical therapist was not any help.

Stress is a biggie, especially since my husband decided to retire early to take care of me! The yoga helps, also meditation.

I have not tried reikie, it is offered at our community college but that is 50 miles away. i did take a class in acupressure which did not work! I wanted to try acupuncture but not covered on insurance. I tried to get my dog's vet to do acupuncture on me for the $35 she charges me for the dog, but she wouldn't, something about losing her license. so, I try to do things in small steps, not easy!

hi all - well one of the things i know that aggravates my conditions (Fibro and RA) is STRESS! i have learned to recognize many things - in order to curtail the severity of attacks -
but one regime i keep consistently is the vitamins, minerals and anti inflammatory foods that help to fight the conditions.
the inclination of course is to 'treat oneself to goodies' which only makes things much much worse - so don't do it if i may caution.
i try to keep an alkaline balance - the body does much better than if acidic. one thing i love that makes it acidic is coffee - so i am back to just two cups between 7 and 9 am .
green tea is good for the antioxidants - but i have to say i don't really enjoy it.
so for now - those baby steps - and consistency - personal mini challenges for me. have a great sunday

Hi Martha

What do you do about the reikie, i have heard about reiki a couple year ago but did not really know what it was , so i start reading about it and thought i would try it
i did order some dvd to become a reiki healer they were by Steve Murray

Could tell me what you are doing to help you with the reiki, i am trying to find somebody doing
the reiki around here and i did find out there is somebody about 25 miles from me
I intend to call for an appointment to learn more about it, Since September 2011 i find that
fibro was bad , worst this year
I am looking after my grandson he hear voices and it is not easy for me but i will do it as long i can

if you would be able to tell me more about the reiki i would apreciate it a lot, like what do you do to help you with it

all we can do is our best

Every doctor I've ever seen says that fibromyalgia isn't curable but that it is manageable. The 20 years I've spent fighting, arguing, appealing to and cajoling this problem has led me to believe that we really can manage it - MOST of the time. We manage it with baby steps - with small achievable goals that we set every week. We build on the baby steps until they turn into steps, strides, leaps and bounds. There ARE fibro people bounding out there and I've been one of them (and will be again). Let's use this thread to state our baby steps, our mini goals for each week. See the goals and then come back a week later and tell us how they worked out.
