I am glad you guys disagree with my doc!!!! I think it can make you gain weight and want to eat.

You have to take care of yourself in order to be able to take care of others

Before I gained this weight, I was taking Lyrica & Cymbalta both & did not have a problem. I only gained the weight a few years ago when I had to quit working & broke my ankle the following year. Along with self negligence. Both seem to help. I also have been taking Nucynta which is great for the pain.

Your doctor has the wrong end of the stick on this one, I agree with the rest. I was on it for TWO DAYS and gained FIFTEEN POUNDS. You can't tell me there's any way I could have eaten enough in that length of time to gain that amount! I have other medical issues and my other doctors yanked me off that stuff so fast my head was spinning LOL--I cannot afford that kind of weight gain, my health--my life-- is on the line!

Ralph Waldo Emerson said 'Life belongs to the energetic.' But you don't have to be frenetic and hyper--some energy is quiet and steady, like a heartbeat... and that works too! LOL

Life comes in specific increments, which we receive as a gift of one moment at a time. That's why it's called

Your Dr is wrong! I would have had to eat 28,000 extra calories in 4 days and have them metabolize into fat to have his theory be correct. That's just bogus!

My doc says that it does not make you gain weight, it makes you want to eat. To me either reason spells weight gain. I just tried a relative of Lyrica and packed on ten pounds because I wanted to eat....and eat....and...........eat! I also got very blurry vision. My pain was better but I cannot accept these side effects!

Good luck! Let us know if you find something that works well for you.

Thank you all so much for sharing. I strongly react to meds, so I'm afraid this will happen to me also. I'm not taking the Lyrica. I'll go back on the Cymbalta. I have been leary of Lyrica all along, so this helps,
Thanks again,
Barb

They took me off it when I gained nearly 22 lbs in one month. Hope it works out better for you.

I didn't have a great reaction either. I put on a lot of weight in a short period of time. The side effects for me were not worth it.

It took 4 days for the reaction. In 4 days I gained 8 pounds(not water!) and on the 4th day, my face, lips, tongue, sinuses and throat started swelling up. I started taking double doses of benadryl and flushing myself with water to dilute the lyrica.
I forgot to add that along with the the major issues lyrica gave me, it also gave me double vision.

I've been on Paxil, Zoloft, Lexopro, .Cymbalta, and .Savella . I've avoided Lyrica because of the side effects I've read about. For those of you on Lyrica, is it helping you? what about side effects? I will be starting on 75 mg for the first five days then 75mg twice a day. Any tips welcome.
