Had my annual appointment at the Cardio Clinic because I have had a Mitral Valve repair. They asked if I could do the Stress Test because sometimes if I am having a bad day or have not been sleeping, I just can't. I did the whole thing and I was hardly even breathing hard! That is the best one yet! And I weigh 150 pounds so have lost three more pounds! My BP was 120/84.
I had my original Doctor this time too. He is the nicest Doctor I have ever met. He called me at home and gave me his number before I had the mitral valve surgery. He told me to call him anytime. Not many specialists do that. The Dr. who did the Doppler said he had called her personally to talk to her about me - well about my heart. Made me feel very safe. He had been out of the country teaching in France and then in the Caribbean. He would be a good teacher. Now if all of our Doctors were like he is, we would all feel a lot safer and probably more of our issues would be resolved.
I think he was surprised at how well I was doing. I said "Now if I could get rid of the fibromyalgia, I'd be all set." He got a funny look on his face and said "Is that going to happen?" He said I probably did a lot of research and reading about it and asked if it would get better. I said it would get worse as I got older - heaven forbid it could get much worse... My Pain Management now is so much better, so that makes a huge difference.
I think a lot of my problem on the tread mill is the way I walk but I had my Shape Up shoes on and they did not fail me! haha It isn;t the same walkng on a tread mill anyway. It felt really good to be able to do it this time. I was sore after because I was walking faster than I do so that upset my hip a bit, but it was worth it. : )
So that was a pretty positive appointment. Tomorrow I see the Gynecologist who I think will be telling me he is retiring and my GP who is almost as good as the Internist I see at the Cardiac Clinic. Both of them are younger Doctors. lol But then, now that I am 60 a lot of people are seeming younger. I still can't figure out how I got to be 60 years old so fast!!!
I am not sleeping tonight though - I had coffee at suppertime which was dumb - but sounded so good at the time. Here is is 3 a.m. and I am back on the couch. Will just stay here and try to get a bit of sleep rather than disturb a snoring husband (and two German Shepherds) in the bedroom.
The Team doesn't seem very active lately - unless I am just missing the posts. This has been a painful season change though so maybe a lot of us are not doing so well - or maybe we are all doing so well we aren't on our computers!
Take Care All. I hope you are having sweet dreams wherever you may be!
