I have been walking/hiking routinely for close to 9 months now.

My goal is to add some (5 min. to 15 min.) strength training 2X/week. Worked through a couple of Coach Nicole's workout videos today:
12-minute seated core &
7-minute upper body w/resistance bands.

A new month time to re-evaluate monthly goals. I am getting back on track this month. I have to start back working out and since I have started to eat now I have gained back 5 lbs!!!! YEA!!!!!!!!!!!! I needed to gain it back because I lost it when I could not eat. So this time I will lose it and it will stay off.

How is everyone else doing??
What are your plans for this month??

I drop in occasionally to see how everyone is doing. Sounds like normal, some ups, some downs, some fun, some sad. I do see a couple of people who seem to be losing too fast, and hope they read up on that. From long experience, my motto is fast doesn't last. I'm losing a steady average of 1 lb per week, haven't had any real setbacks, so I guess I'll find out if I can put my money where my mouth is if I gain over Thanksgiving or Christmas days. Already know I will indulge in my favorites, and probably won't get in much exercise to counter it.

Just checking in (got to get those SparkPoints, you know, as well as see what my team mates are up to!)
This week has been pretty productive. I finished my chirunning clinic and will do the Level II clinic on the 30. HM on 11/7 and I've practiced the hillier section of the route. Bought new running shoes to break in, but they still don't feel quite right, so I'm planning to go back to the store for a refit. Manicure-pedicure today and guests scheduled to visit over the weekend, so the house is CLEAN.
Hope you are ALL making progress towards your goals emoticon
and enjoying the journey. Support is always appreciated! emoticon emoticon

Hi all,

One more crazy week, and my life should get back to normal. Of course, part of this non-norm means I didn't track and have gained back at least 4 lbs. :(
Really have to learn how to control myself when I get out of my "comfort box" of an organized and planned life. I know everything is not always going to be pre-planned. Another thing to work on!!

Hope everyone is doing well. I hope to get back on here more frequently.

I've had a rough week - didn't exercise and everything else went downhill with it...poor sleep, needed groceries, clutter reaccumulating... HOWEVER, I am going to take a deep breath, write my to do list, and complete something to regain my momentum.
It's also Day 1 of the Fall 5% challenge, so I have something new to shoot for and be accountable to the team.
Hope you ALL are having a better week than me! emoticon

Back from my vacation. Well, not really a vacation, but that's what we'll call it!! A vacation from my regular job to work somewhere else. Peeked at the scale this AM and was up 3 lbs, but I know it is from not enough water and probably a few extra calories.

I went off track yesterday. I knew I would food wise in the evening, but I sort of turned it into an all day thing starting with a fatty breakfast. All that and I didn't even bother to get my water in. I woke up in the middle of the night sooo thirsty!
Back on track today. I keep staring at the stationary bike and waiting for some magical power to put me on the thing for 20-25 minutes, but it hasn't happened yet.
Weigh in day is tomorrow for me. I'm not expecting a loss (I've been sneaking on the scale all week and there wasn't a loss), but I would like to remain the same at least.

I dropped an amazing 20 pounds in my first month. I would like to be down to 181.5 by the end of September. That is 10 more pounds for this month. That number is my halfway mark. My workouts have been hard, but good. My calories went crazy over this long weekend, (too many get to gethers with beer and lots of good food) I didnt go all out, but I def went over my calories and kinda shunned my workouts. Back on track this week. Gonna work my butt off...literally.

Today was my weigh in day and I stayed the same. Disappointing because I pretty well stayed within my nutritional goals every day. But, like some others are saying, my rings are tight and they were extra loose only a few days ago so I think water has a lot to do with the number on the scales today.

Marly, congrats!

MJ, I don't know how many calories you need to take in a day, but you might want to listen to your tummy. If you're full, push the plate away. The diet plans are geared towards your calorie needs. Are you eating too quickly? That can give you a false sense of fullness.

Did I eat too much? I just had lunch, one of the preplanned menus provided by Sparkpeople, and I feel really full. In fact, I was full before I finished half of it. What's going on here? I didn't know whether to eat it all (which I did) or not.

Just call me chicken - or brave - but today I decided to make my SparkPage public. I was hesitant to do so before because I really wasn't comfortable with the idea of a public page. However,I have found such inspiration and motivation reading people's stories on the message boards, blogs and Spark Pages, that I thought I would join the crowd. There is not much there yet, but I will add things as I can.

Have a great Labour Day weekend, everyone!

My rings have been tight the last couple of mornings. Just get some extra fluid in and it should go away.

Was up 1 lb this morning, but I am thinking fluid retention. My rings are so tight this am. I have been drinking my water, but the weather is really hot here and I know my sodium levels have been up.

Great job on walking MJFRANCK! I really need to dust off the tread mill. I also know what you mean about having company. I actually fret the weekends, because it takes me out of my "schedule". I am trying to focus more on not letting my life center around food. I think you just have to do your best and if you get off track, get right back on when the company leaves. There are always going to be bumps.

If I don't get back here, hope everyone has a great holiday weekend. No big plans here.

I've had a good month. I walked over 48 miles, which exceeded my goal of 10 miles per week. I'm doing a lot better at planning meals and staying within the guidelines. However, I have company coming next week and I'm worried that having all those people around will mess me up. Any suggestions?

Hi everyone - I'm part of this class, but haven't checked in on the team in a while...and now, just back from 12 days of vacation (yay- I SO needed it!!)- I'm "back on the Spark" again. I was in a place with no internet connectivity, so couldn't log in at all...but now I'm excited to be back and back at it. So, happy end of August everyone - and let's meet a great September of SP!

I hope everyone has a good week! I dreamed last night that I went shopping and tried on pants 2 sizes smaller than what I now wear. They were snug, but they fit! It was a good dream.
This morning I just checked my menu and see a dish that we've never made before and now I can't remember where I found the recipe! We are into week 4 of menu planning at our house and it looks like there are still some tweaks needed to the system. Overall though, it's been great.

I must admit that I do get on the scale a couple of times during the week to see how I am doing, but it can be discouraging to do sometimes. There are mornings when the scale is up and others when it is way down. I like the down days, but as you say, it does help kinda gauge how things are going.

Josiebon, the blah feelings you have been getting could be the lack of protein, I know in the past on days when I didn't have protein as part of every meal, my energy was way down and I was so tired.

Thanks for the note, look after yourself, and hopefully Subway was good

Josiebon - I have issues with splenda too. I drink vitamin water zero. I know it is more expensive, but I like to have a least one flavored water a day. Not even sure if it really counts as water, but seems to be working for me so far. I like the Lipton Green Tea packets too.

I also peek at the scales a couple of times a week. Sometimes though if I am down I have to remind myself that doesn't mean I can cheat!!

Okay, Subway tonight so I have to check out their nutrition site and find something in my range.

Have a great weekend.

V1CTORIA9 I think I can guess, but what are the reasons for weighing monthly or bi-weekly?
I know I shouldn't but I've been getting on the scales about every 3 days! My official weigh-in is Monday, but I weighed myself this morning and realized that there is no room for poor food choices over the weekend.

I've been feeling kinda gross in the afternoons and evenings. At first I thought it was hunger and I went overboard on the calories for a few days to sort of comfort me through the gross feeling. That didn't really take the feeling away so now I'm wondering if it's the fact that I have a hard time getting the minimum protein requirements in. My other guess is it's a reaction to the Splenda in my Crystal Light. I've been watering it down by using half a packet with 32 ounces of water, but I often drink two of the 32 ounce bottles.

Hi all,

Good job on the losses. I was down 3 more lbs this week, making 10.5 for my first month!! I was surprised after camping last weekend, but the body does funny things. I have found that on week's I felt I should have lost I don't, and vice-versa.

SMCKINNEY4: Love your attitude. Admit it, deal with it and move on!!! You'll have to remind me of that on bad weeks!! :)

Ok, I have a question about weighing in. I have been reading Chris's book The Spark, and he says that we shouldn't weigh ourselves weekly but do it every other week or once a month. So my question is, do we record weekly or not? What is everybody else doing?

Other than that it has been a great week, I have managed to stick to goals this week. It helps that I have been busy. I have been purging my house, I figure that if I want my life to be sparked, I needed to clear the clutter away from other aspects of my life. It is helping as I feel so much better that the mountain is just a mole hill now. Back to work MOnday, and not looking forward to it. Stress, stress and more stress, I have to learn how to let it go or deal with it better. I work in progress as they say. Hope everybody has a great rest of week

Way to go DRB13_1! It's great to see progress, isn't it? I've lost 8 pounds myself.

LVSINCITYLADY, it's great that you're taking a step in the right direction. I use the treadmill at my parent's house and love it. Just don't fall into the trap of using it as a clothes hanger/dryer! Good luck!

Has it been a month already? Thanks for all the support and inspiration! With 10 lbs gone for good, people are already noticing the difference. emoticon emoticon emoticon

Ok its getting towards the end of the month, and I'm still decluttering. I have done well charting my food, but have been poor on doing the exercise.

Just got a treadmill hope I can do it for 15minutes
a day. and then start adding time
